Good morning Blooze ;)
Damn, it was devilishly HOT downtown today .... but we survived :D

:rose:
Develish hot, the kind of heat the makes your whole body slick with sweat? And even with the heat, the slipping and sliding, you can't help yourselves... to let your sweat mingle, to use each other as a water slide, slipping and sliding in the heat and sweat...

We'll take a shower in a little bit, but for now, come 'er babe...

:)

That kind of develish hot downtown?

Heh... you must keep in mind that I was escorting two minors, my kid who's 13 and a half and my niece who soon turns 15... both of them bonny lasses ;)
Anyway, we were looking at some stuff at the Monastiraki Flea Market, the young man in charge was being very polite and helpful... of course we were all speaking in English for my american niece's sake.
So another elderly vendor approaches and asks our young man "Hey kiddo, how do you say GREAT PIECE OF ASS in English?". Our young man starts changing all colours in the palette and stammers "I'll tell you later"
I pretend that I have heard nothing and I keep talking in English to my niece. Then I turn to the elderly guy and pleasantly address him in perfect Greek. ROFL... his jaw dropped and he said something like "OMG, you heard.... " I said "Oh yes, I did hear.... loud and clear!" :)
I swear I have never seen anybody looking so embarrassed in my life :D
Nor do I know which one of the three asses he was referring to as a 'great piece of ass'

LOL - now there is one thing that you can take to the bank... that was the last time he is going to use his native tongue to talk sneaky about the stupid touristas...

There will be nights when the sequence of events will return to him, and he will shudder...

yet I can't help but wonder, as must he - how did he get out of there without his balls in his pocket, wrapped tenderly in a napkin, and rushing to the nearest Emergency Center...

Oh well, he must have been in his 70ies.... I admit having felt sorta pissed but on the other hand I could not but feel respect for his tenacity at his advanced age

That's because there are real people behind the IDs. There's many who call the Internet an illusionary world. I do not agree. It's as real a world as the one around us. Ok, there's some who pretend and some that are fakes... but isn't this how things go in our everyday life as well?
I prefer to treat Lit people as Real people, with feelings and emotions and families and joys and fears. In the long run, I think it pays better than dismissing everybody as an anonymous face hiding behind an ID. At least, I have ended up with some awesome friendships, which strengthens my belief that I am being right in my approach.
Totally agree Love

I take my time on Lit just like any other time. The people I have met are genuine and fun to be around. I have gotten to know many of them very well and I regard many as not just my friends, but my family. I would dearly miss them if they were not around and those that have drifted away are dearly missed and thought about quite often. I have actually conspired with another friend to eventually go to New York and FIND one friend we have lost contact with if the need is great enough.
The friends I have made here are very supportive and comforting in my times of doubt. They have always been there to offer a kind word, cyberhug, and in times that it is needed a good cyberkick in the butt.
In recent times when life had me down and I needed to talk to someone I didn't go to a friend or relative. I came here and e-mailed my Lilt friend and got the support and comfort that I needed.
I know some people may think its weird and that Lit is just a place to pretend and play, but to me it is a part of life and the people in it are very real and very important.

*Hops off the apple crate now*

OMG I am soooooooooooooo out of practice

Met up with my cousin at a bar/restaurant down on the lake tonight to have dinner an plot an plan.....she ordered an ice tea with peach vodka..I took one sip and I could feel the flush start on my face...what a freakin wuss I am!!!! I ended up just having plain ice tea...she teased me all night about it.I can handle a little Baileys in my coffee from time to time but that about it...Now my cousin wellllllllllllllll she can down the drinks with the best of them...

Promised her when we were in KC that we would make Mav the DD and we would all go out and party....don't trust myself to drive after one...when I go out with MJ once a year to the local bar for my birthday I know that I have had enough when the 25 year old bartenders start to look good ;) ......

We had fun...played "remember when" and laughed ourselves silly...

Here is a poem that a friend sent me some time ago... author unknown...

FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES

We sit and we type,
and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder,
what this possibly means.

With our mouse we roam,
through the rooms in a maze
Looking for something or someone,
as we sit in a daze.

We chat with each other,
we type all our woes
Small groups we do form,
and gang up on our foes.

We wait for somebody,
to type out our name
We want recognition,
but it is always the same.

We give kisses and hugs,
and sometimes flirt
In IMs we chat deeply,
and reveal why we hurt.

We do form friendships -
but - why we don't know
But some of these friendships,
will flourish and grow.

Why is it on screen,
we can be so bold
Telling our secrets,
that have never been told.

Why is it we share,
the thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
as though we were blind.

The answer is simple,
it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems,
and need someone to tell.

We can't tell real people,
but tell someone we must
So we turn to the 'puter,
and to those we can trust.

Even though it is crazy,
the truth still remains
They are Friends Without Faces,
with odd little names.

:rose:

This poem and the piece you wrote at the very beginning of this thread do seem to go hand in hand George.

Smiling to myself as I head off to bed....This wonderful amazing Crazy ASS family

Among all of you I can be ME....LOL...can't always be ME with family....they perceive me one way.....a little blinded to the fact that there is more than one layer to me..LOL..probably a good thing other wise I would get a lot of funny looks

Yet it is here that I found hands to hold...shoulders to lean on...a place to share my hopes and my fears..where I have shared happiness and troubled times...the highest of highs the lowest of lows...

There is Family...and then there is this ohhhhhhhhhhhh so Special Special Family

I am forever grateful for each and everyone of you....

LOL - I feel like a group hug is in order... then break out the Jose Quervo and get knee walkin', snot slingin', kamode huggin' drunk...

Then we'd all take 4 days healing the hangover and laugh at our crazy asses and surely somebody would do something really stupid that we could talk about forever, maybe Beam and Ran would take their shirts off and dance on the coffee table...

~~Note to Self: buy a coffee table, just in case...~~

Coffee's on gang...

busy, busy day... I got to get the SS paper work that has to be done today or the Sarge is gonna stick my ass in a wringer sure...

Then I got to start goin' after the biggest cobwebs and clutter piles - got company comin' this weekend. The only solution to the master bedroom is to shut the fukin door...

...and do something about the music. I sort have run amock. I played a lot yesterday. But I didn't play anything, while at the same time playing everything. I found out that I am quite comfortable with my "style" and am trying to form a hard fast rule - future work is going to be pointed at enhancing my style, and not changing it. El once remarked that he was somewhat amazed (a bit too strong an adjective perhaps) at how fast I could chord out a song and add in the melody... the thing that slows me up is that then I start trying to be fancy, and really don't know how to be fancy. I never have been fancy about anything really. Pretty much a simple fellow - need to keep it like that. Glitz doesn't fit me well.

So anyhow... what you all got planned for the day. All you worker bees? I wish you all was retired like me...

:nana:

okay, no hitting... no hitting...

 $

Oh God Lord Man if I start drinking stuff like that I'm afraid a whole lot more than my shirt would come off
And as for hugging the kamode...been there done that ain't EVER doing that EVER again

Morning Chief...Morning Family

Watched a hummingbird this morning in my Rose of Sharon bush...I smiled ...Grandma would be pleased

Nope NOT retired but today is finally a day off for me....R has part of it tied up wants me to take him shopping for a 6th month anniversary present for his little lady

Morning All

Finally getting back to normal after the weekend. I helped a friend out Saturday night and worked security for a Festival ( read drunken party). I got home when the sun was coming up and the Sunday paper beat me there by about a 1/2 hour.

I'll leave you with some of the headlining band. A jam band out of Vermont that rocked the house 'Doctor Jones' and here is some of the The buzz

Cheers and pass the Jose...

Fiesty huh?
Fiesty might be a bit calm... She was more, "Fuck me now, Asshole!"

There was one night when Annie was reved up on Tequila (one would think I would have learned my lesson...) and a little ole gal walked by and kind of gave me the eye...

Annie says, "What the fuck's your problem bitch?" and started to get up and go after her. I had to get ahold of her and pull her back into her chair. The little gal's eyes go big and she hustled the hell out of there. When she came back from the bathroom, she made sure she was looking at the stage when she walked by. Annie muttered, "You better look away, bitch..." I just sat there... with a shit eatin' grin on my face - that night was pretty damned wild.
