Don't think that if deemed necessary that the government would hesitate to subpoena those records and find out how much milk you've been buying.
They have already subpoenaed myspace records in an attempt to protect us from pedophiles in New Jersey. There are all of those handgun background check records that were supposed to be destroyed and never were. Warrantless wiretaps if you just use the "terrorist" keyword. The insurance companies are trying to get into your private medical records. It just seems to never end.
