That's not BDSM.

Oh hell no, you're not. I've been struggling to keep from giggling this whole thread. All I can think of is this picture, it just seems like it goes with the idea of Jaffa Cakes.

maybe jaffa cakes are different in the US to the UK.

Here they are strictly a biscuit and are not home made but bought in boxes and are full of preservatives and sugar...wonderful :)

Oh and I like your av JM :)

I'd never heard of a Jaffa Cake before, nor seen one- which meant that hunting down a recipe for those who enjoy them, but can't find them, was necessary. I'm odd that way. ;)

They look like black and white cookies. I think you can only get those in ny. Half vanilla half chocolate frosting, sorta like a cake but called a cookie

More commonly referred to as "Half Moons" here in New York State, and the more prized ones use chocolate cake/cookie with the white and chocolate icing. They range in diameter from six inches to bigger than your head.

I avoid the community because, by and large, I spend too much time looking into the eyes of a short, fat man in a leather vest and a German SS bike helmet, thinking "Where does he get off telling me I'm doing it wrong?"

...This made me laugh out loud. (shaking head at mental image) That kind of thing would make me want to shout: "Have some body consciousness and fashion sense, please! Just a little decorum won't kill ya, and frankly, you need to lay off the luftwaffles if you're going to dress like that..."

They are called Venetian Tarts here and they ARE definately BDSM related. They have that whole dark/light yin/yang devil/angel power exchange thingy whatsamacallit going on.... :)

In fact I would go a step further and say they are 'THE OFFICIAL BDSM CAKE'... :D

Fantastic

Now I can talk about jaffa cakes as they don't start with 'c'

Sometimes life is good :D

Edit to add: Hmm the second word starts with 'c'

*sobs quietly*

You all go on and talk about BDSM, don't mind me.

Anyone got a tissue please ?

I understand *exactly* what he's talking about. I've often thought the same thing.

One reason why I staunchly avoid the BDSM community is because I find the labelling and compulsive need to categorize to be tiring and lethal to the eroticism of the whole thing. I've had experiences of saying "Yeah, I'm into BDSM" to someone and then being put to some kind of test.

"Do you let your sub cum first?" ... "er... sometimes" ... "Then you're not a Dom. That's not BDSM."

"Do you use a flogger?" ... "Sometimes. Sometimes I just use my hand" ... "That's for people who aren't serious about BDSM. It's not BDSM unless it hurts more. You can't make it hurt enough with your hand."

"Where's your sub tonight?" ... "Oh, she didn't want to come" ... "So what?" ... "What do you mean?" ... "So what if she didn't want to come? That's not up to her, is it now?"

I do things in my sex life which can be classified as "BDSM", but I'm a whole person. I do other things, too. If I impose categories and labels and rules on my behavior then I'm not being a person... I'm being a textbook. I'm a study sample. I'm a code of conduct. I'm a checklist. And, see... I'm not worth much when I can't just go with my intuition and my gut reactions. I have to play my sexuality like music rather than paint-by-numbers.

Perhaps what MorfeuV was trying to say is that the BDSM thing, on the community level at least, lacks the free-flowing romance and artistry that I feel is the best part of the sort of erotic behavior which defines BDSM. I get tired of being told I'm not Dom enough, or that I'm not wearing the right Dom clothes, or that I'm not "fully committed" (sorry, did I join a volunteer organization in my sleep or something?).

I don't want to put words in MorfeuV's mouth, but maybe what he was saying is: Too much categorizing and labeling, not enough poetry and eros. If that is, in fact, what he's saying... then I'm right there with him.

Couldn't agree with you more on most of those points, Jailhouse. I would have to admit that both online and in my local area, the BDSM community does irk me at times. There seems to be too many people eager to put the emphasis on style and look, and not enough on the fundamentals of the lifestyle. While I admit that certain conventions can be helpful to determine and enforce the roles in a relationship, I don't see the prevailing attitudes of one-upmanship (ie: I'm more Dom than you because I used leather restraints and not nylon) and general shallowness (ie: the only real sub is the one that dresses like the slut she is) being of any help to the lifestyle as a whole.

Now that's amusing - another difference between NYC and upstate! In NYC they are typically referred to as black and white cookies, and they are considered a NYC classic. The cheap ones are cookies, but a real black and white "cookie" should be more cake-like. I haven't heard of doing them with chocolate cookies, but more chocolate has got to be a good thing! As for homemade or not...I've only ever had them from bakeries. So that's kind of in between mass produced and homemade. I had no idea these were called Jaffa cakes elsewhere in the world...perhaps that the origin of its use in Stargate?

And speaking of NYC classics...I finally braved the crowds and went to Magnolia Bakery. Oh. My. God. Best cupcakes EVER. I only wish they weren't so close to where my Daddy lives, because I don't think the walk there and back is enough to work off one of those things. But...YUM.

Cakes?

I think MorfeuV was just informing us that D/s is a historical fact...as if we didn't know. Not sure if if he was talking about BDSM labeling at all. Words in his mouth or reading between the lines Jailhouse?

No. You're wrong.

As I said: "I don't want to put words in MorfeuV's mouth, but maybe what he was saying is: Too much categorizing and labeling, not enough poetry and eros. If that is, in fact, what he's saying... then I'm right there with him."

Don't excuse yourself, because you're right.

But are you speaking of something different?

No I am not & ...

What threads are you complaining about?

I'm not complaining. I'm just pointing something out.

Jaffa cakes are biscuits and despite the arguement being an issue for the UK tax system and ending up in a tribunal, they were still declared a biscuit.

I used to wipe my ass 6 times after I took a shit, now I only wipe 3.

Labels on things are always going to be questioned.

No. If something is labeled, [[POISON]] I'm not going to go drinking it.

I know that for some people BDSM or D/s comes under the label of abuse.

That's becuase they lack education.

Interesting that you only think D/s came before BDSM, any examples you would like to share?

Look at other cultures. Study it for yourself.

Great googlies the original poster came back!

MorfeuV, please forgive me if this question seems rude, but your conversationsal style (in the written form) appears to be somewhat terse... might we hope for more than one line bomblets of your thoughts and opinions, regarding BDSM?

Why should I use ten words when I can just use two?

Exactly.

They think dominance is the equivalent of barking orders.

I think these people just want an excuse to wear a dog collar.

I could just cry. Prousts' madeleine has nothing on Netz's black and white.

general question to the masses:

If the sexual subculture of SM and leather sucks so bad, why do you come here?

You're going to find small minds and bad attitudes wherever you go. What I find weird is that people *expect* otherwise anywhere.

You're AV is kind of Cute!
