The 2022 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

I'm in after deciding to rewrite a section, & add another 2000 words.

Romance:
Buckshot Ranch - Nobody had any idea just HOW dangerous Julie was!

My stories are up, but I don't see a list yet. I used the tag Geek Pride, and three others with Geek Pride 2022 are up.

Full list is here.

They put the list under Sci-Fi and Fantasy just to play into the full geek stereotypes. I object naturally as my story is Erotic Horror and merely based on fantasy.

I've spent the last hour or so looking through some of them.

Eeeeek. Still working on mine. Keeping my fingers crossed that Laurel will let me add it in when I'm done.

mine didn't get published last night? If you're talking to Laurel I'd prefer it go with tonight's publishing (26th) rather than
publish it halfway through the day and by tonight it's a yesterday story. That first deluge of readers is important.

One of mine didn't make it either. I had thought that the cut-off was a bit too close to the publish date

I wish it was the first time. This has happened to me several times with contests/events. It was in about 3 pm my (MT) time and should have easily made the cutoff.

Yeah, mine's maths related so Scifi isn't really relevant. Ah well, it was a fun write.

The list will probably be rotated through other categories.

Yep, mine hit about 3:00 PM Eastern.
New Rule for Duleigh: Anything less than a week before cutoff is late.

Mine didn't get published either. Perhaps it would be helpful to put the timezone for the cutoff time in contests going forward. I knew I was cutting it close and that's on me, but if I knew I wasn't going to make it I wouldn't have rushed.

It's not like the deadline dates were published weeks and months in advance.....oh wait, they were.

Find the funny in life people.

By now I should know better than to do this, since inevitably there are some late arrivals to the list, but here are stats on this year’s latest Geek Pride challenge. (I’ll revise/update as necessary in a day or two.)

Twenty-three stories in eleven categories. Three multiple entry authors. Some very fine reading.

For some reason, measurement of the membrum virile plays a major role in more than one of the tales this year, the methodology and precision approaches striking in their thoroughness.

So:

Most entries (unsurprisingly) in Sci-Fi: 8
3 Mature
2 each in Erotic Couplings, Gay Male, and Incest/Taboo
1 each in Celebrities, Erotic Horror, First Time, Humor, Loving Wives, and Transgender/Crossdressing

Quite a range indeed.

I couldn’t pull the trigger on the challenge this year, my plot bunny hatched but withered on the vine (to mangle metaphors unmercifully) but I always enjoy the entries. Thanks to all the contributors, inspired efforts all.

Fair enough, this is my first event, so that's good if that's how it works - is a daily rotation or something?
I think it's a daily rotation, maybe every two days - but I don't pay much attention, to be honest (I only rarely enter contests or get something into an anthology, because: deadlines).

I posted the Loving Wives category story, knowingly poking the usual trolls. So, mine's a slow crawl up from the morning start rated at 1.29 to now 1.58! It will take a week or two to break 3.

There's more than yours that didn't make it - it's an event, not a competition, so no issues adding the story after the due date / time. I'll ping Laurel and ask her to add in any outstanding stories that missed the cutoff.

Thank you so much! And let me say, this has been the most fun writing I've had in a long time.

Woke up to find my story NOT PUBLISHED again. I've pulled it. The majority of the readership is already days past. A story I spent months on deserves better than this treatment. I'll pick up a cover and publish it on Amazon and take the $$$$ instead.

Is it just my choice of a very niche subject or is the reader participation in the Geek Pride Day event even lower than last year? I have worse numbers than on my non-contest stuff and the lack of comments REALLY stings after the work Loqui and I poured into the story.
