Yes! 73.) Surrender to Me by Shayla Black was our May 2012 BOTM!

http://forum.literotica.com/showthre...9#post41009349

And in my fetlife book group 36.) The Toy by Clair Thompson. was our September 2011 BOTM. I didn't read it because I couldn't afford a new book then and I can't stand ebooks. Maybe the next time I get a book gift certificate I could get it!

I saw some reviews for "Owned And Owner" by Anneke Jacob". Has that book been submitted for reading yet? It sounds like it's not what a vanilla world would appreciate; but a detailed consensual non-consent TPE story.

It hasn't though **As She's Told** by Anneke Jabob was our BOTM for January 2010.

I'll consider that our first nom!

At Grave's End by Jeaniene Frost 4/5

Did you like the book overall or not?

Yes. I enjoyed this book. I like a urban fantasy, it's one of my fav genre sub classes. That being said, though this one was pretty good it's still near the middle of the pack.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

I don't recall much if any, BDSM in the book. Not sure why it was on our list ever?

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

The sex scenes did little to nothing for me. I do think the writer is somewhat inventive about vampire to sorta human sex which is cool. It's something I would do if I were writing it but I hope I would also make it hotter.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

Yes. I really like some of the characters and the general storyline pretty well.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

Yes. I like how it's progressed though I'm not craving the next book like a drug or anything. The BEST books do that to me. LOL

What did you like best about this selection?

The urban supernatural vibe, the characters of Cat and Bones, the team, her mother's progression.

What did you like the least?

In this book, IDK, maybe something about the general pacing of the storytelling itself?

How would you have changed the story?

I wouldn't have. There has been a good progression in the characters and storylines. I like that.

At Grave's End by Jeaniene Frost

Did you like the book overall or not?

No. I tried reading the whole thing; but, I'm just not into vampires hunting to kill.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

I didn't see it. BDSM to me is a little (or a lot of) pain, a lot of training, passion, commitment, trust, sex. This book didn't give me any of my idea of BDSM.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

Honestly, that's the part I continued reading the book for ... the part where Cat's mom slept with a a creature was unexpected for me. But, it didn't warm me up or get my imagination going like I was hoping the book would.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

It jumped around alot. I haven't read any other books in the series; so, it was hard for me to get into the characters and remember who and what they were. That Bones is so protective of Cat was a good point from my view. Hero worship here! I'm just not into bloody violence that ends in death.

My preference is BDSM with a bit of lust and love and masterful sex as the reward.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

No. I'll pass on the next one, but enjoy reading everyone's reviews on it.

BDSM Book Club -- Purchases

Rose: I just wanted you to know that I purchased this month's and next month's books through Amazon.com as "used" and they come from "goodwillbooks.com". Both were $1.20 a piece ... plus shipping for a high total of $5.00 -- sometimes I receive a book for under $3.99 (including shipping).

I've received books from this seller before and they've always come in excellent shape and within days of ordering.

Just wanted to share the info with you.

Cool... I'm almost finished with it!! :) If we don't have many trick or treaters I may get it done tonight!!

Swarmed with trick or treaters... honestly! People drive their kids into this neighborhood to trick or treat. I promise I'll talk bookishly on the morrow.

Did you like the book overall or not?

Yes, I enjoyed the book. It’s not the type of book that I would normally read, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

I feel that it portrayed BDSM in the darkest form. The kidnapping and torture is not what I ever saw BDSM as; yet, the sexual kinks of some of the clients did fit into what I feel BDSM could portray.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

No. Majority of them were too violent for me.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

I enjoyed the rest of the book more than I enjoyed the extreme sex scenes. I wanted to find out what was going to happen to “Becca/Beth/Clarisse” and Miriam. I wanted her friends at the restaurant to not come to any harm for trying to help her. I was glad that the book ended the way it did. The bad were punished; the good survived and found each other.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

I would read another Barbara Bell story. She kept me wondering what would happen next.

What did you like best about this selection?

My normal selection of book is Dom/sub with lots of kinky sex, with romance thrown in. This took me in a totally different direction. The extreme side that I knew existed, but never went looking to read about. I’m glad I read this one.

What did you like the least?

I hated some of the characters. I believe they got what they deserved in the end.

How would you have changed the story?

I would have found a way for Violet to escape and find “Beth” later in life to show that she made it and was surviving after all the torture and abuse. I’m a “happy ending” person.

Looking forward to seeing what you thought.

Good post! I'm glad you read along with us!

Here are my thoughts on it.

Stacking Rivertown by Barbara Bell

Did you like the book overall or not?

I'm going to have to say no, overall I didn't like it.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

No not at all. There was a lot of torture, prostitution and some kink but 90% of it was non-consent. "Toys" are also broken and killed.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

This may sound bad but yes, at times I got an ache. I'm dark like that. Other times I was just disgusted.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

At first I was just very unhappy with it. After reading the first chapter I didn't really want to pick it up again and read more. I wrote a note: "Okay, let's please get away from the ugly characters and storytelling and at least see some horribly kinky sex.

My plea was answered. Somewhere along the way I came to a point that I wanted to see what happened to the lead character. She really turned me off at first. She was putting herself down, making mistakes she knew were terrible, and having great disdain for the person she'd chosen to marry at first. That turned me off and angered me.

Eventually her story was so twisted that I cared just enough to keep me reading to find out what happened to her.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

I wouldn't be really eager to.

What did you like best about this selection?

Some of the word play was good. It was very twisted. The city it was located in is always a turn on for me, though in this case it wasn't featured enough or realistically.

What did you like the least?

I didn't like the way it seemed everyone disliked or didn't understand one another at first.

How would you have changed the story?

I wouldn't have. Anyone who can write a book and get published has done better that I have. Congrats to the author.

Stacking Rivertown by Barbara Bell

Did you like the book overall or not?

I thought it was well-written, but it was not an enjoyable read, if that makes sense.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

No, to all 3.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

I liked some of them... but others were just too darn triggery.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

The story was good. As far as the plot goes, it makes perfect sense. It would be too horrible to remember so the lead character simply forgot. Again, for me that's a little triggery. There are things I remember from being a kid that I would rather not, and some things that I remember now that I wish had stayed in that twilight zone of mist.

I loved the exploration of her finding her self. In some ways, I almost thought the new partner, (the singer) that the lead character winds up with was meaner than the pimp. I mean the denial of the relationship sparked such a disaster within the lead character.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

I wouldn't be really eager to. (I'm with Fury on this one...)

What did you like best about this selection?

It surprised me. There were plot twists and turns that I did not see coming.

What did you like the least?

I didn't like the very trigger-y bits.

How would you have changed the story?

I don't think you could change the story and have it work as well. However, being what it was... I did not like it. I don't know if that makes any sense at all or not.

Thanks for reading with us and posting. I'm so sorry you found this selection to be trigger-y. *HUGS*
