The BDSM Book Club Discussion Thread

We really need to pick a book for March ASAP. Any ideas?

Here is our current list of noms but new noms could always be added too.

1.) Menage by Emma Holly

Bookstore owner Kate comes home from work one day to find her two flatmates in bed...together. Joe - a sensitive composer - is mortified. Sean - an irrepressible bad boy - asks her to join in. Kate's been fantasising about her hunky new houseshares since they moved in, but she was convinced they were both gay.

Realising that pleasure is a multi-faceted thing, she sets her cares aside and embarks on a menage a trois with the wild duo. Kate wants nothing more than to keep both her admirers happy, but inevitably things become complicated, especially at work.

Kate has told her colleagues that Joe and Sean are gay but the gossip begins when she's caught in a clinch with one of them in her lunch hour! To add to this, one of Kate's more conservative suitors is showing interest again, but she's hooked on the different kind of loving that she enjoys with her boys - even though she knows it cannot last. Or can it?

2.) Symphony of C, Vol I and Symphony of C, Vol II by Cara Mitchell ebook format

From author's web site:

Following the ebbs and flows of longing warring with jubilation, Cara relives the fury of the battle between her intrinsic nature and the teachings of modern society in her quest to fulfill her yearning to yield control to another. Trained by the mysteriously exclusive ranks of high protocol dominants, she endeavours to be moulded into a gracefully captivated being.

Will her journey through intense bliss and wrenching turmoil in order to fulfill her need to obey destroy or lead to unparalleled freedom?

3.) Surrender to Fire by Lora Leigh

SurrenderBook 1 in the Bound Hearts seriesCole has wanted Tess for years. And he's warned her of this several times. He's also warned her HOW he wants her. Tied down in his bed, under his domination, surrendering to his desires. . . Fyre Brand She holds the elemental power of fire within her grasp, able to sear, to destroy. But her heart holds the fear of repeating her ancestors' mistakes. Now, amid a world fighting to rebuild, Carmella must learn that she cannot control the power surging through her fragile body alone. She'll need help. But can she accept the future her leader Torren has seen, and the touch of a stranger who is more than he seems? Publisher's Note: Previously available in the Elemental Desires anthology.

By G. Crider "loves to read" I purchased because of Surrender,(#1 of Heart Bounds Series). Not much of a story but the sex is super hot. It's Cole & Tess's story. Fyre Brand is a paranormal, full of good raunchy sex. If you are looking for more from this book don't. Just a good naughty read and a few fun ideas.

4.) Eager to Please by Kim Corum

Eager to Please, a new BDSM lite novel from Kim Corum. Here I am, take me, use me. Do whatever you like. When Kara, the wife of a wealthy businessman, is kidnapped, the last thing she expects is to feel sympathy for her captor. As her time in confinement extends, she finds herself involved sexually and playing games of submission and dominance. As each day passes, she slowly begins to fall in love and loses the homesickness she initially felt. Oddly enough, the only person she misses is her butler.

By Sydney

I am probably biased towards this book, given the fact that the whole "falling in love with kidnapper" scenario has long been one of my personal favorite sexual fantasies! I was aware that this was the plot line before I purchased the book, so I was extremely excited to start reading it. And it definitely did not disappoint.

And I'm adding the following which I've either recently read, am reading or want to read.

5.) Danger Zone by Sierra Cartwright

Book Description
Publication Date: March 27, 2009 | Series: Hawkeye One
Who's watching you...?

The highly specialized Hawkeye team protects the world's most valuable things, secrets, even people. But now one of their own needs protecting. There's a cool million dollar bounty on Dom Wolf Stone's head. Trouble is, Stone's a loner and doesn't want the help.

That doesn't stop his submissive and former lover, Nate Davidson, or another determined agent, Kayla Fagan, from showing up at his Colorado ranch, uninvited. The spark, the anger, the hurt is still there between Wolf and Nate, and their first kiss reignites the flames that time and distance have not diminished. With Nate's help, Wolf uncovers Kayla's unexplored submissive tendencies. Under the Dom's unyielding instruction, Kayla explores her sexuality in ways that make her dizzy.

For Wolf, there's nothing better than having two very different, very willing, very pleasing subs at his command. But Kayla and Nate both want more. In addition to his love, they want him to give up control long enough to share his life completely. And that's the one thing Wolf is incapable of giving.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and content, male/male sexual practices, ménage (m/f/m).

6.) The Siren by Tiffany Reisz

Book Description
Release date: July 31, 2012 | Series: The Original Sinners
Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different—more serious, more personal—and she's sure it'll be her breakout book…if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora's fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards—in six weeks—or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining…and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous—staying away from him…or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

7.) Nawashi by Graydancer

Nawashi is an erotic urban fantasy, the story of Brian Stanford, a man who discovers that underneath the world of kink and BDSM lies a global conflict of magical forces. As he becomes involved in the struggle, he develops his own powers and allies to protect his family from the forces of the Wrinkled Man who now considers him a threat.

I'm in a rope mode, so this should be interesting. You can purchase a real book from [Lulu]() , Amazon even download an e-book version for free.

Maybe one being March and one being April? I'm very open to any other offers though.

Thanks,

My pleasure!

Please let me know when I can answer the discussion questions about The Siren as I've finished it. I devoured it like a treat I couldn't get enough of and now I'm reading the second book of the series.

If I were you I'd answer them now while the book is fresh. However, don't post them here yet. Our discussion starts at the end of the month.

It's time to discuss our February 2013 BOTM, Obsession : an Erotic Tale by Gloria Vanderbilt.

Who read it?

Who didn't?

Why or why not?

Was it BDSM?

Was it a good fantasy to jack or jill off too?

Btw, looking over the last book by Kim Corum I really can't see spending $13+ for another book by that author. Eager to Please by Kim Corum can still be the The April 2013 BDSM BOTM but I just don't think I will be reading along. For reference, I've included the thread link from when we read it.

Obsession by Gloria Vanderbilt 3.5/5

Did you like the book overall or not?

The imagery was interesting. Overall it was pretty decent.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

Somewhat my way, it was consensual, there was some D/s.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

The sex scenes in the book were okay. Some turned me on but the D/s turned me on the most.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

I liked parts of it but it was a bit too ethereal as well.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

Perhaps, not sure really.

What did you like best about this selection?

The fantasy elements I guess.

What did you like the least?

I didn't like how it ended. That wasn't a real ending at all.

How would you have changed the story?

The detailing got to be too much. I find the idea of a fetish / sex club cool as a fantasy but the idea that everyone who was a Dom was so rich was another cliche that rankles.

Obsession: An Erotic Tale

Did you like the book overall or not?

I liked the book. Probably because I love to read and it was a different plot than normal for me. I felt like there might have been a twist in there somewhere. Could the two women have been one? A split personality due to mental illness? I don’t know, it just seemed possible to me.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

Yes, I felt it had portions of extreme BDSM. Several descriptions were definitely kinky and arousing.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

I enjoyed several of the descriptions. I was mildly surprised at some of the hardcore pain with Talbot and Bee – but, not offended.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

I enjoyed the rest of the book. It wasn’t a favorite or up for a “re-read”, but enjoyable read.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

No. Too many other great books/authors out there and this was her only BDSM project.

What did you like best about this selection?

The extreme differences between the two characters … frigid vs hardcore BDSM.

What did you like the least?

Definitely the ending. I want a black and white ending to a book … or at least the opportunity to an ending in a sequel.

How would you have changed the story?

I would have given Priscilla some enjoyment of her marriage bed … at least a little bit of hot sex. That’s just me though.

4.) Nawashi by Graydancer

5.0 out of 5 stars Edgy, Innovative & Sexy October 7, 2009
By Michelle Belanger

In a market that's getting glutted with urban fantasy and paranormal romance that's filled to overflowing with hardboiled wizards and neurotic werewolves, Graydancer manages to bring a wholly unique and innovative voice to the table. The very first time I read "Nawashi," I remember being dazzled by the richness of his alternate world, how it was so like our own and yet so compellingly different.

His concept of magic and its connection to the libido is a fresh new take and the underlying message of freedom of expression -- with love and sex being an integral part of every individual's expression -- really makes this pair of books relevant to our modern day. The book pulls no punches -- there are scenes that are gut-twisting in their graphic portrayal of the evil people can perpetrate upon one another.

But the book earns every gratuitous scene, making each act of violence or sex something that drives the plot toward its satisfying end. Some might class this book as little more than erotica, but make no mistake -- this is a story about love and heroism, about good and evil, and about where those qualities lie in each of us -- and what situations in our lives might drive us to the deepest extremes of the human spirit. And I have to say, Gray's master villain of this pair of novels, the Wrinkled Man, is perhaps one of the creepiest bad guys I've had the pleasure of reading about in a long while.

Highly recommended!

5.) Hawkeye One: Danger Zone by Sierra Cartwright

By Bella March

Agents of Hawkeye, Inc. are trained to protect others from danger. They're fierce, capable and equal to any task set before them. This time, that task is protecting fellow agent Wolf Stone from a ruthless criminal, although he'll never admit to or even allow assistance from other agents. But he never counted on the tenacity of former lover Agent Nate Davidson or eager
Agent Kayla Fagan.

When Kayla first witnesses the brutal reunion between Wolf and Nate, she's stunned. She never pictured the two beefy men as homosexual or into BDSM. Then they turn their sites on her and her secret submissive tendencies and life quickly becomes a lot more interesting.

Wolf enjoys his two subs and the threesome quickly become much more than casual play. But once the assignment is over, will he be able to let them into his life on a much more permanent basis?

Danger Zone is the first story in the Hawkeye series by author Sierra Cartwright. While there are two novellas sold as solo works and one novella in the newly released Dom of Dark Haven anthology, all three are able to be read in any order.

Wolf fierce dominance is completely drool worthy, even though he seems hard hearted to Nate and Kayla. Not usually a fan of man love romance, the interaction between Wolf and Nate was completely sizzling. It was easy to see how Kayla was attracted to both Nate and Wolf. Where Wolf was almost aloof at times, Nate was easygoing and loving, providing Kayla a balance of emotions.

Another winner from Ms. Cartwright!
