Well, they cut that segment short. The Cliff’s note version was the Lads roundly trashed the Commie cars but…they were amazed at how fast the Chinese tech has progressed. They went front 0-60 in the blink of an eye, tech wise. They all commented that it wouldn’t be too long before they would hit the UK. Obviously this was ten years ago or more, so their time line may have been off a few years.

It’s also worth noting that Trump doesn’t believe EVs will save the planet. He’d like to eliminate the EV tax credit and freeze future subsidies to domestic EV manufacturers that were part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

He won't do anything that hurts Tesla's bottom line.

I’m not a big fan of industrial policy but if it is going to be used to promote a government favored industry, I’d much rather have it targeted toward nuclear power rather than electric cars.

They're related issues -- the power to charge the cars has to be generated somewhere.
