The Halloween 2024 Official Contest Support Thread!

I marked it up because (even though it's not really my thing) you so thoroughly jumped the shark by treating that costume as a serious task! :) I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Haha thank you. Definitely over the top and not for all tastes, I appreciate you reading !

Well, my story "Cum Costume" is about 4.00 points higher rated than I expected ! Definitely not for everyone though
I think it'll do just fine myself. I know there are plenty of pervs like me out there that like that sort of thing. 😂

I'm going to branch out a bit myself with my other entry. Most of the sex scenes I've written involve a femboy, but I want to try my hand at a lesbian story for the other one. I don't want to be a one trick pony lol.

I was initially going to sit the Winter Contest out, although I mentioned I may enter if inspiration came to me. Well... it did this afternoon, and that one doesn't involve a femboy either.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting, I really appreciate it. I think I am still a bit traumatized from getting slammed in "Loving Wives" - Won't make the mistake of posting there again

Good luck with the second entry !!!

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by my only Loving Wives experience. Lots of discussion, yes, and a few people that thought my heroine was an untrustworthy evil so and so and my artist hero far too passive because he was using his brushes instead of his fists, but they were counterbalanced by those who were cheering them on. And it's had nearly 1200 votes, which is as many as my other stories combined. I know that's still beginner statistics compared to some, but... don't give up on LW. If the story works for a category, do it.

Thanks!

That’s one category I plan to steer clear of, unless… inspiration and I’m feeling masochistic LOL

My non-Halloween story is deliberately LW (Could have gone for EC E/V M) because.
a) I wanted to see if I got comments - most of the time mine are as rare as (goes into Black Adder Mode) a rare thing that is considered rare by rare things!
b) To tick another catergory off my list!
c) Being a bit masochistic!
d) I'm an idiot with a sense of mischief!

@ChasBozwell30
It does a search on stories with the tag 'Halloween 2024' so if you only put that in the notes to Admin field rather than also as a tag it won't find it.
This link shows more stories (from the front page) approx 82 but no ratings, as opposed to 27 my way.
I don't know if there is way to get Laurel to add a story tag, or see the ratings from the front page link.
Hopefully a longtime user will be along to help!
Just out of interest, I think it's now 106 contest entries published (is Halloween popular is it?), 31 of which are tagged Halloween 2024

This contest sneaked up on me. I've been on a bit of a writing hiatus due to starting a new job, and other life priorities. I haven't been active on, or following, Lit much lately. I have some back-burner projects in my w.i.p files that fit the theme. I'll see if I can finish one up and polish it in time to submit. I'm focused on some long form projects, but this contest is always fun.

That's awesome. I got the weirdest comments given the category. Things about being a slut, and everyone dying of AIDS. I'd totally get it if I had put it in Romance (which it definitely is not)

Maybe commenters mis-understand the LW topic area ? Regardless, I'll just put my LW stories in Group Sex going forward unless I want to get a lit of hits.

My Summer Lovin story is still my best received but LW does get a LOT of views and comments

I can appreciate that. Your post makes me want to try it sometime just for shits and giggles!

Actually that was why I tried it! I was trying very hard to be seditious, with the husband as the bad guy and the wife taking a bloody revenge while keeping her hands clean. But much to my surprise, most people liked it (score is currently 4.63, which is not too shabby for LW). It's even visible on the 12 month LW top list, which is more than I could have expected. So it seems to be a great place for shits and giggles (and what else are we here for?), and you're going to get comments whether it bombs or not. I'm sure the LW experts here can add a lot more insight though.

Oooooh this is making me want to do it so badly! I will once an idea comes to mind, I want to add some comedy to it too for some real laughs.

Editted to add a question. What kind of reactions do stories involving crossdressers and/or femboys get in LW? (If any have been done)

I don't know - you could search using tags? I would imagine that some of the readership would find it... challenging... the troll reviews almost write themselves!! One of my reviews was "Matthew (the hero, an artist trying to encourage the heroine to see a way out of her bad marriage) was certainly no manly man. More a feminine sort, using guile and misdirection to achieve his goals. I'm guessing the woman is usually leading and on top." A lot of the comments were also hyper-focused on her being untrustworthy in a future relationship because she was smart and eventually stood up for herself, too. The story is here if you're interested (apologies, this is off topic for the thread). I definitely wouldn't be trying to win a competition with a crossdresser story in LW, but you never know, and again the actual experts may differ.

Yes - my Summer Lovin' story went from 4.43 to 4.62 in the blink of an eye after the end of competition sweep. The only score that matters is what it is when the chequered flag drops.

TBH, I used to obsess over scores of all competition participants until I realised it was pointless. You don't know who gets hammered by uno-bombers and what the final effect on the results will be.
True. My story has been getting beat up quite badly over the last few days. Granted it's not a happy ending but what do people expect in EH?

Do not be dissuaded from posting in Loving Wives. Yes, your story, may well be treated unkindly, BUT, good writing shines through and it will bring readers to your other works. LW is one of the top categories and when I have dabbled there, attention on my other works has skyrocketed. Think of it like sacrificing your bishop to allow your queen to move into position. Is your goal to get a red H or to be read by more people?

I just submitted How To Breed Your Demon, after working on the beast for several years. It’s a departure from my usual style, in a category I have never submitted to before, but one of my regular beta readers said it was the best thing of mine they’d read. I hope the contest readers and the Nonhuman ones both enjoy it as much.
Congrats already to all of you who have hit ‘submit’ on a story. There are thousands out there who should click that button but won’t.

Sounds sexy. I'll definitely give a read.

Excellent! I really enjoyed your 'first date' story. Fingers crossed for this one. I hope the 'working on the beast' wasn't too hands on in terms of the story research....

Definitely this ! I got a good reception in Fetish also (but lower volume of course)

In the past few days not only has my competition entry taken a bit of a beating, but I've lost the red "H" from five of my stories. However, recently when I've been posting stories, I notice there's someone (or several someones?) going along the "new" list and one-bombing most of the stories on the new list in my category and sometimes notice that at the same time a lot of my stories get a 1 vote too, so it's hard to know how much of the general back-story bombing is related to the competition, but it sure feels more than usual just recently.

A tip for one-bombers, if you're going to bomb just after stories post, it's kinda obvious because the 1 is often the only vote on the story 🤣 (though, voting is anonymous, so little repercussion I guess)

I've gained about 50 followers though, and to be honest getting more eyes on my work is the reason I entered in the first place. I don't really care about scores so much.

As a regular denizen of NonHuman, welcome. Friendliest raters on the site, I think. Lord knows my stuff averages 0.1-0.2 better there than in Romance or SciFi
