The Halloween 2024 Official Contest Support Thread!

I’ve just read and commented, but to expand a bit more… I think it’s great but without Paula’s obvious consent to the shenanigans, the main characters present as really awful people, so that aspect was a struggle because I kept looking for the come-uppance. Perhaps if in a sequel Paula manages to send them all (or just her husband) down a literal chasm in some way, that will resolve itself…

I love writing awful people.

But yes, that's why I've never posted this before. It's about two years old. This year, I just decided "why not?" I've always liked the story, so I'm glad some others do too. Thanks.

I am looking for costume suggestions. I am a brunette , 5 7 and 185, small boobs, big butt. What would be cute and fun?

I’m just starting out here, but I know my MCs are too nice - I had to force myself to make my MC do a slightly bad thing in my Halloween entry (here). Love your work Voboy.

September is here and that means it's Spring here. For you lot up north, it's Autumn (or Fall).

That can mean only one thing - it's time to start cranking out that Halloween story that you've been dying to tell! Let's kick off Autumn 2024 in the northern climes with a new support thread -

Halloween (Oct 31)

View attachment 2388371

Themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.

You can begin submitting on (or before): October 2

The last day to submit is
October 23

Winners Will Be Announced:
October 30

The author must copy and paste the phrase "HALLOWEEN 2024" to the "Notes to Admin" field of the submission (without the quotation marks).

And please add the tag "HALLOWEEN 2024" (without the quotation marks)

Read Laurel's notice of the start of the contest sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout (when it magically appears), before submitting and follow the instructions in that thread. I will keep an eye out for that information and update this page as soon as I see it (or as soon as someone points it out to me).

This thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2024 Halloween Contest. For you new writers, this thread is a great place to meet your fellow authors and share ideas, tips, and tricks of the trade.

As the recently departed Ogg always told us, there is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests. Apart from the possibility of winning, your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, but this thread is a good place to vent after getting that kind of attention. Some of that attention could be appreciative and helpful and this thread is a great place to come and share those accolades.

It's that time! Bring out your masks, candies, and creepy accessories, and prepare to put a spell on your readership.

Oh, and as an added bonus - Season 5 of The Amorous Goods Anthology is running at the same time, which will give you even more exposure!
Hi all - sorry for this question now - I just thought about dropping in and see what is being shared about this contest. Didn't do it before because the theme doesn't appeal to me -can't see how I can write a story with the themes required. Then I thought 'might be good to know how other authors go about it, it could strike an idea.
My question is about the Amorous Goods Anthology. What is it about? Is it something in which we can participate? If yes, what are the rules?
Thank you for answering

Question: Is it sufficiently "Halloweenish" to have a story based on costumes/cosplay, but without any elements of horror? That's the only thing I've got right now. It's an IT story featuring cosplay.
That's about the only link I can think of for a story in this contest.

...and I can stop sweating a bit :) Ended up with two Halloween based stories but poles apart. First goes up tomorrow, still thrashing 2nd one out.

Since my other one got excluded as a chapter, I reworked one that was already mostly done for another purpose. I added in some seasonal decorations, casual mentions of costumes and a couple of trick or treat puns. It goes live tomorrow n Ex/Voy.

It will NOT win. It's just for fun.

Well, I've got my fifty votes to be eligible for the contest, but the readers are decidedly split on the story. It's EH and there's no happy ending, so I guess it's to be expected.

Mine posted not too long ago, and it did the one liner thing on the last page as well. I'm always excited to see what people think of my stories, so if you feel like a read, check it out. I'm happy to take constructive criticism if you have it. It was written a while back, and it's not my best work, but I left it open to a sequel and have some slight inclinations of where i want it to go. Of course, any time I think about it directly I get another possibility, so it's more narrowing it down than coming up with something. I should start keeping a journal for these.

Good luck with your story. It's a good idea to a add a link to your stories to your signature.

I have a question, actually seeking your thoughts ... on a murder mystery and haunting all set around the erotic life and love of the protagonist?

Is it too deep and dark? Will it get bounced for a murder scene?

Thanks

As long it can't be considered snuff - ie sexualised murder, go for it. There's some very dark stories here.

I thought my Halloween Contest entry was a little too much (multiple suicides, death of a little old lady, a woman accidentally sawing through -- well, a lot of blood), but this story has actually been doing quite well with a lot of positive comments. I'd say go for it!!
