Funny thing is, I have experienced the opposite. I have sent a few ladies some good conversation starters that were not sexual and I never got responses back... May be I'll send you a PM just get a conversation going...

I gotta agree with you here. And I always feel kinda weird just sending PMs like that, and putting in all the effort to have a normal conversation without hearing back, so now I just don't do it.

If its any help, the ones I find the easiest to send a message back to are those that are commenting on something I've said in a post or some info in my profile.

The ones that aren't are those that just say hi, I'm x, I'm this age and I like doing x. There's nothing wrong in that, it just makes it more difficult.

But for the occasional message from a Dear Friend, I rarely get PMs

I do not frequent Lit nearly as often as I once did and I'm not terribly interesting so it is difficult, at times, for me to maintain enough conversation to make new friends. Also, it seems when I find friendly folks they often don't stick around long. However, I Always appreciate PMs and answer each one as soon as I am able.

That can be a problem as well. There are days when even I got inundated so those unattached girls must get flooded with them, and not all of mine are a pleasant read. . I just ignore those I don't like but I think some girls just stop reading them, so they lose the good and the bad.

I think you're correct. But I like to keep my rejections to terrible ones in person instead of terrible ones online where I actually put in lots of effort.

Seriously though, it still amazes me the disconnect between peoples wants and their stated purpose for being here. Guess its just the nature of the beast. How you ladies don't go mad with the crap people send I don't know?

that's why unless someone has something fun to say and information in their profile, I tend to ignore a huge part of what I get. In the many years I've been on here, I've met maybe 6 that are really interested in conversation vs jack off material.
And unless there is at least the basics in their profile, I don't typically respond. But conversation trumps all. Humor is a big bonus. I always enjoy a good laugh.

It is handy - it hadn't occurred to me it was a local phrase. It isn't even very insulting - can be quite affectionate in context.

I've been lucky enough to receive opening PMs from ladies on this site, and they've all been in this category. I'm not surprised. Quite often, I've considered sending PMs to ladies who seem from their profiles to have something in common with me, but I've never actually done it yet. I'm held back by the knowledge that they probably receive lots of unsolicited PMs from men, including some which may make them uncomfortable, and I don't wish to cause that apprehension.

I'm always very happy to receive PMs (well, nice ones anyway!), but I'm not going to moan about rarely receiving any. I think it's probably down to me to ensure that my profile is suitably informative and that I'm engaging positively in conversations on threads.

I have to agree with SSD, conversation trumps all. I enjoy stimulating conversation above all. I would never consider sending a sex laden pm to someone without having that type of relationship with them first.
