The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

I dearly wanted to use the term in a pub when I was in London last year, but there just never was the right time. I surely didn't want to be sipping my beer and have passers by calling me a wanker.
did they have a tv? if it was showing anything with conservatives, or a bunch of other awful people. announcing "what a cunt" would have been quite apropos (depending on the pub, I suppose)

I'm done for the night... got everything done as planned (and then some) except the corn bread which'll get done in the morning. Dug up a few potatoes ready for the green bean+potato casserole. *tilts glass of whiskey at people I like. Enjoy tomorrow if you celebrate it. To be fair, I don't know if the family here cares so much about the reason for the day, just that it's a good day to share good food and company with those we love.

The tradition continues with Cornish Game hens in place of turkey, a spiral cut ham for the ham lovers, candied yams & mashed potatoes, jazzed up stove top stuffing (another "tradition") in the hens and on the side, cream corn, (no green bean casserole, but a seven layer cold salad), ocean spray cranberry sauce (another "tradition"), and the three sisters of thanksgiving pies - pumpkin, sweet potato, and pecan - with whipped cream on top. The snack trays of veggie sticks & dip, cheese & crackers, and sliced summer sausage, chips & salsa, etc, are all ready for game time. Whew!!! It’s practically rote after all these years, but it seems to be getting harder every year - for some reason…

Bed now.

👍

I hope you can make it work.
At this point in my life, listening to my gut is the only way.
I don't even want to anymore. I went from a house that's a pile a shit to a house that's seems a little less of a pile of shit. I did all the research and studied and I still didn't listen to myself.

Every damn thing about this house was done cheaply, bad is gonna cost money I didn't want to spend to fix. I'll spend the next ten to 15 years wasting my time with this.

I over paid for it as well. I should have lowered my offer by 25k easy. He would have said no but I wouldn't have cared.

Updating things? Yeah sure part of the process.
Maintenance of stuff? Of course part of the process.
Having to fix all the outlets because the boxes aren't in correctly or the moron painted over the outlets? Nope. ( granted the outlet covers aren't a hard thing to fix, it's just mind blowing someone can be that stupid)

I'm just mad at myself mostly. I knew better.

I love your House Hating… its really funny. I’ve never known anyone who hated their new home.

Keep it up!

We had a couple of last minute cancellations, too... it's nasty out there. But that means we're doing it all again tomorrow but at least I only have to heat stuff up.

I am so full; glad H &I had a slice of the NY style cheesecake earlier in the day. It was pretty damned good and the base wasn't too thick after all. *whiskey*

Our Thanksgiving gathering was postponed due the storm. Dug into the recipe file and pulled out my recipe for Red Snapper. Stuck a wishbone in it instead of a celery stick and called that Thanksgiving dinner. Life is good.
Storm? Was in the single digits F today and the smoked spatchcocked turkey came out awesome. But, no wind.

supposed to drop to 19 tonight, but I put extra hay in the henhouse and the box catbeds for the outside cats, fixed Rosie's front porch with a deep hay layer under her blankets and another pile out back by the henhouse and garage wall in case. She'll probably sleep up on the swing bench on the front porch anyway, only using her warm beds when it gets really cold—into the minus degrees. Anyway, just wanted to make sure they all had that extra warmth if they wanted it.

*wonders what shrimp flavoured popcorn would taste like... i like shrimp!

For those who remember or still enjoy those chocolate orange balls, I have a suggestion. Add an ounce of Cointreau to your hot chocolate. Certainly goes well with the holiday season.

Dang! You are colder than we are, up here in the North Pole!

It’s 10 f and heading to 8F here. I suppose I’ll dig out my wool socks.

There she goes again. Please do NOT tell us what you did with the slice of cheesecake. Your sex rituals are none of our business, buttersmybaconbutt

:D

I hate this cold weather. Either I'm just not used to it yet or my body decided to reject it harder this year since I'm older.

Bring on spring!

Pfft. During Covid you needed to book a time to see Santa. Well that rule has continued at our local, large mall. Besides having to book ahead online, you now have to pay a $15 booking fee.

I liked the old days and ways. Stand in line…
