The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

If the house is that bad, how did it pass inspection?
Because a few things.
1) it's old but working
2) the inspection doesn't do an internal evaluation of the machines. Just does it work and it's old.
3) appraisal is the same thing.
4) what i would of had to do is have special people come out for everything in that house. Would have cost me like 2k to have everything Insepcted by a professional. Sure hindsight it makes sense but you don't know that and that's a risk we all take.

I have a new one coming Friday. So while it fucking blows ass that the old owner was a cheap pile of shit. It feels fairly awesome I can just go get one brand new even if financed.

Maybe bought it as is ?
Nah. It was running when we went. What the old owner did was just run it till the fuse popped. A fuse is 1.99 or 3 for 10 at lowes.
But what that was doing was damaging the heat exchanger which no inspection will ever see. Not their job. With that getting damaged you run the risk of it leaking. So...its worth it just to get rid of it.

He also got these wierd space heaters to offset the aging furnace Instead of just fixing it correctly because it was cheaper.

So it's not the structure that has problems?

I'm buying Christmas now and not waiting. I want present buying done and mailed off in time.
I'm done too, I give the kids cash (which they appreciate as young adults) and the wife and I don't exchange gifts. As I tell her, "Everyday you have with me, is a gift" Oddly enough, she agrees. Most of the time anyway...
