The new football thread

I can't see them passing on Mendoza. They should....in a weak QB draft class you can get more by trading the pick. And sorry...I am not sold on Brady making decisions. Raiders can't protect a rookie QB. Now...if they keep Geno and let him start...or if they pick up another QB and throw them to the wolves...then Mendoza is the smart pick.
Drafting Mendoza with the first overall pick is a no brainer for the Raiders. They haven’t had a playoff caliber QB since Gannon. I believe Derek Carr could have been a winning QB if he hadn’t been subjected to 6 head coaches and even more OCs during his tenure there. Mendoza has proven himself going 16-0 beating OSU, Alabama, Oregon (twice) and Miami in the National Championship last night. He’s got the arm strength, accuracy, quick read and release ability, running ability, smarts, and work ethic. There’s literally nothing about the kid scouts don’t love.

The only risk is he might be lured into the Sin City nightlife of sex, drugs and gambling, 🤣

I’m kidding. He’s a great kid who comes from a great family.

It isn't about talent....the dude is solid. It is about the Franchise being such a cluster fuck that they can't protect him. They can't even develop him. It would be like being drafted by the Jets...no better way of never getting past your Rookie contract. Build the team...then seek your QB by trading up. If a QB isn't available because they are injured...what does that solve? Look at the Bengals. Great QB. Beat to fuck in the first few years. Now he is injured all the time. Same thing will happen to the Giants QB.

If they don’t screw up the coaching hire, if they build the OL through the draft and FA they’ll be in good shape.

Reports are starting to surface about what really happened in Buffalo. Five weeks ago, McDermott asked to have a meeting with ownership. Beane attended...not knowing what McDermott wanted. McDermott told ownership he did not have a SB quality roster. Beane lost it. And Monday's firing was in retaliation of blindsiding Beane in front of ownership. .

Now i am on record saying I think McDermott needed to be replaced. The culture he created was soft. Allen also could not overcome his flaws. But who the Coach is wouldn't change that. Allen thinks he is above everyone. But make no mistake...the Bills do not have a roster to be anything but what they are. And that is on Beane. Firing McDermott for Beane's mistakes is problematic. The fact ownership enabled this is a nail in the coffin. Bills are done. No Coach wants to go there. The Bills will be sub-500 next year and won't make the playoffs.

Everyone wants to focus on the last interception...saying it was a catch. It wasn't. But what is important...Allen threw that pass seeking a quick win instead of passing to an open checkoff for a first down. This is what Allen always does in big games...and why they lose. Allen is the problem. And that is on the HC for not changing that.

As a Patriot’s fan, this sounds good to me. 🙃
I am not a Pats fan...but i am not an enemy either. But I do love great self-inflicted train wrecks. And the Bills imploding will be great Monday morning comedy for the next couple of years.

I expect the Patriots to make the Super Bowl...but I will be cheering for Stidham because just as I love train wrecks...I love underdogs. Go save Polly Purebred....

Such a Bills hater!

The Bills interviewed Philip Rivers for the HC position. Just what they need, a High School football coach. Someone is losing their Beanes up there.

The truth isn't being a hater...but nice try. Here is the thing...do you watch any sports commentary? Any at all? Link me one...just one...should be simple because all i am asking for is one...one commentary that thought that interview with the owner wasn't a clusterfuck. One. What was proven...was McDermott was fired for the wrong reasons. And again...I believe he should have been fired. But so should have the GM Beane. Until the Culture created by the owner changes...just like with the Cowboys...no coach will have any real impact.

Patriots Christian Elliss shares that he and his brother Jonah — who plays OLB for the Broncos — have been in touch and this is special for the family knowing one will be going to the Super Bowl.

Who are the parents rooting for? 🙃

I never said anything disagreeing with you, bud. I was joking around 🙄
If you go back, I said Beane should be gone and I agree that the press conference was a mess.

I really am not a Bills hater. I do love train wrecks. Jets. Giants. Ravens. Bills. Raiders. Browns. Cowboys. I laugh at all of them equally. One fucks up...and it is like High School...the rest fall in line and say, "Hold my beer". And each fanbase is blind to the inevitable end of their choices. Where else sre are people paid hundreds of millions for a shitty job?

Rivers never had a great arm but he was gritty, made quick reads under pressure, and could release the ball quickly when he had to. I really admire him as a person. Feisty and determined on the field. Family man, father of 12, and a good sense of humor off the field.

But when I saw that Beane brought him in for an interview, I thought it was a joke. Still it might have been a non-serious thing they conspired together on to mess with the sports media.

But maybe it was serious. Maybe Beane got the idea from the late Jim Irsay who thought it was a great idea to name a former player and high school coach Jeff Saturday as head coach of the Colts. That worked out really well! 🤣

Bills have a guy playing the role of Superman trying to pull his entire team across the finish line every Sunday.

Maybe a couple good TE's and a good secondary but 28th against the run won't work.

Denver 2nd against the run,NE 6th,Seattle 3rd,LA Rams 12th just saying.
