Some things just take a little noodling, but what it does and how it does it are very different.

I can say that I had a lot of experience with the sweeps during one troublesome period and I saw firsthand how flawed it is. Like in this example. I have no freaking idea why would any individual give me several fraudulent 5* votes in the last few days on a Story Game from two months ago. It makes no sense, really. Occam's razor says that it's the flawed algorithm of the sweep catching random votes while running through the contest stories.

Votes are a curious thing. What I find most interesting is the entire T/CD category(that's where I predominantly live, so that's what I track) has taken a hit in the last three months. on 6/6, the top 50 ranged from 4.94 down to 4.88, Right now the top story all time is at 4.87. number 50 is at 4.85. Lots of scrubbing at the top...

And congrats to the winners as I inconspicuously try to side track this thread...

A little shocked to see my name up there. Thank you all for the congrats and congrats to the other winners.
A little advice I learned from before. They post your name and story on the front page. A lot of trolls from the politics and general board come through there. I don't think my last one was up more than 10 minutes and had already been trolled down 3 points so I locked voting on it. I'll be doing that with this one too.

I think it's been well repeated here but the main benefit to all is that it attracts readers to authors, and genres that they may otherwise avoided or think they didn't care for.
I think it's tremendous that at each competition I enter there are numerous new writers dipping their toe in the waters.
