The Poets' Collaboration Thread

Hey you guys! Its been a while since I've been on the poetry board, since rowdy ted in fact ;) I hope that you are all doing well. Are we still having fun? I noticed a few poems put out by the group alias "The Poets" thanks for including moi. I'll keep checking back, perhaps we can start another fun one, that was a blast last year guys and gals! :):):):)

Dizzy

Hey, Dizzy.

Perfect timing you have there. We're just about to submit a poem (I was up late yesterday editing it: will post here in a few hours) and we'll definitively need to do another fun one. :D

Welcome back!

PS: Nice boat. :p

Here's the edited version (with Angeline's help) of the 6 stanzas. I tried to keep them true the their original form and spirit, but some adjustments had to be made for them to read as a whole. If any of you has any suggestions or disagree with anything, let me know. If everyone agrees, I'll submit it tomorrow.

    Mote

       He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
       Close to the sun in lonely lands,
       Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.

       The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
       He watches from his mountain walls,
       And like a thunderbolt he falls.

         "The Eagle"
         Alfred Lord Tennyson, 1809-1892

Glosa

He stands alone, dark and upright;
in his chest, promise unbound,
from his lips no smile, no sound;
only the mute clandestine rite
of holding firm against the ground.
He reads the sand of future strands;
he clasps the crag with crooked hands.

He eyes details in grains shifting,
though sea rakes smooth the sanded sheet,
dissolving words as waves retreat.
What will be is seaward drifting,
but he knows the tides will complete
the answers washed away from sands,
close to the Sun in lonely lands.

Above sea, he surveys his realm
of targets, currents, rocks, and waves:
the distant master knows his slaves.
Bespoke o'er eons to guide this helm,
his gold eyes see those quickened knaves.
Goal locked and ready, he make his plans,
ring'd with the azure world, he stands.

He sees the crags, like giants, stand
against the waves' relentless moan.
Undoubtful, he becomes as stone
and deems the world at his command.
The rocks become his earthly throne,
the cliffs, terrestrial castle walls:
as wrinkled sea beneath him crawls.

Beyond the horizon, he seeks,
from his granitic parapet,
voices of those who'll not forget
borne aloft in the winding shrieks.
Too high to succumb to regret,
too proud to break his silent pall,
he watches from his mountain walls.

He breathes in deep the blackened skies.
A final taste: wind's sighing mock.
All too aware, Death's measured clock.
Eyes opened wide, he picks his prize.
Above the clash of sea upon rock
the time has come, it's Blood who calls
and like a thunderbolt he falls.

Ok, I know that at least two of you were out there lurking since I posted this. ;)

Can I get some feedback on this on the next few hours, or shall I just go ahead and post?

The Poets... wow, I'm so proud of my baby! Actually, I think you've adopted it, L. You make a good momma. :D
Okay, I posted some pics on that other thread. Maybe it's time for the poets to do another illustrated poem. Check out the pics I'm offering. I'm sure I have more if the ones posted don't inspire anyone.

I do what I can, Eve, but I'm not used to being a momma, adoptive or not. :D

Does anyone want to start a new group poem soon? Preferably something summery... :cool:

I'd love to start a group effort.

I saw an idea in the story discussion forum that might be fun.

The signs of the zodiac.

It requires 12 poets to cover the whole list.

Aries ~ The Ram Mar.22 to April 20)

Taurus ~ The Bull (April 22to May 21)

Gemini ~ The Twins (May 22to June 21)

Cancer ~ The Crab ( June 22 to July 23)

Leo ~ The Lion (July 24 to August 23)

Virgo ~ The Virgin (Aug 24 to Sept 23)

Libra ~ The Scales (Sept 24 to Oct 23)

Scorpio ~ The Scorpion ( Oct 24 to Nov 22)

Sagittarius ~ The Archer (Nov 23 to Dec 22)

Capricorn ~ The Goat (Dec 23 to Jan 20)

Aquarius ~ The Water Carrier (Jan 21 to Feb 19)

Pisces ~ The Fishes ( Feb 20 to March 21)

What do you think? Too ambitious?

I think you should let us both--after all we are the twins. And Lin what day? I'm May 31.

(and if not Tess--I'll bow out. I have lots of stuff I'm working on, anyway. :)

June 2 for me. But it's been solved in the other thread. Anyway, I wasn't even thinking of dates, but of something else...

I snag Pisces instead, for my girls, who will be. :heart:
