The "We Love the Lit Ladies" Lounge

haha. i've managed to find a number of net oases over the years--maybe i've been lucky to find so many pockets of heart and intellect...but alas, they all dry up in time.

then again, the supposed higher quality and stability of 'real life' seems to be receding as well. so much of everyday life seems at best polite, and hypnotic, and absurd. so many ppl i talk to these days are stumbling under loads of stress and despair.

but, you know, i'm gonna stop that train of thought. i just crawled out of a mope a little bit ago and i'm not going to dive right back in. :p

Good idea, and not to start you down that track, but I would say that I am so tired of the hypocrisy of our Neo-Victorian morality in the states compared to the overtly sexual media that we watch and listen to. It is no wonder people are unhappy.

-yawn- I might go to bed soon. Not going to win any battles killing myself from lack of sleep.
Especially considering I figured out the way to make my internet stop going off

(Apparently I had to uncheck the box that said "Stop access at scheduled time")
So now I need to learn some restraint, so I don't stay up all night. Haha.

THANK YOU.

I officially love you now.

And I can see why the girls do too.

I've been trying to hammer that point into people's heads for the longest time.

I'm fairly certain in about 20 years, we'll have 8 year olds doing sexual things in commercials.

I mean heck, they're already making the little toddlers talk like adults.

Won't be long before little Timmy is a porn star.

See I reject the Neo-Victorian morality as idiotic. I am very close to the way that Mark Twain viewed it; however, what I have an issue with is the hypocrisy of saying, "We are going to show you images that will make you want to behave in one way, and then we will slap you when you act on them."

How did Mark Twain view it?
Enlighten me please, oh smart one.

And yeah, precisely.

Here. Here's beer. Here's a nearly naked woman next to the beer. See a connection? Yeah, get drunk, sleep with a nearly naked woman. WHAT? YOU ACTUALLY DID THAT? Dude, that's effed up. Don't you have standards?

Kinda like that?

You know, if nothing else, I might stay just to have Constantine teach me things.

=P He can un-shelter me. For the things I should know, but don't.

The flaw in your argument... That sort of behavior isn't exactly looked down upon in our society, heh.

@Erig: Oh, I will. I'm a trooper. Just one of lifes quick left hooks landed squarely on my jaw, and I'm still woozy recovering from it. :)

Mark Twain believed that sex was the greatest gift that the divine gave to humanity and that it was a sin not to enjoy and revel in it. Whereas his Victorian counterparts were so freaked out by sex that they had to have table cloths that covered the legs of the tables so they didn't accidentally think of sex.

Ah. Mark Twain was an okay guy, then =P

oh, i agree. i think u.s. culture is of two minds on a lot of issues...it's tragic to watch, fatiguing to live. we waffle between violent extremes in our efforts to purge our ambivalence, and pretend to solve issues via scapegoating, endless distraction, or painstaking balancing acts.

to be honest, i'm too good at the first two strategies... :-/

but hey...rawr/kitty finger-hearts!

Mine is distraction....Hence why I am here. But I try to keep things in perspective.

I'm a king of distraction, in my own little world. Distraction and "escape" heh. I spend many hours "escaped" and trying to keep my life in perspective. The things that seem terrible at the time, usually are not so earth-shattering. Just find a coping mechanism, fight through, and carry on.

Either of you guys need advice or an ear to listen to your problems, you can come to me. :)

Yeah, I couldn't think of a good example.

Can you give me one?

Edit: I hope my asking Rawr if she would mind giving me her Skype wasn't too much. They just sounded like they were having so much fun, I wanted to join in. <_<

i used to be a big fan of this sort of self-made, bastardized version of zen, but then a few years back i got so bent out of shape i've never quite resumed my equilibrium.

nowadays i'm a fan of epic bsg/lost viewings or square enix play-throughs. and, when it's warm, lots and lots of looooong walks. :)

I used to write a tremendous amount. Since the hurricanes, I haven't written that much, but I have to get back to it so I can get things going in the right direction again.

I'm heading to bed.

Just to make sure- for the future, your advice is be myself, relax, and, I'll add this one myself, don't worry about what others think of me? :)

Gnight, Kit. Just relax, heh. Self-deprication has it's place, but drowning yourself in it is very unattractive.

ah, writing...right at the heart of my meltdown.

curious, if i may, what sort of writing?

Well, I am a published essayist, and my graduate work is a book of poetry. I also have a decent number of short stories and a couple of novels in the works. Oh yeah, and at least one movie script. I think that is about it.

Hahaha. Thanks Lulu. I'll keep that in mind.

...Crap, an FFX quote slipped out.
Yeah though I'll chill and be myself. No need to change who I am. Just how I react. =)
