Troll Discussion

Troll Discussion?

Droll discussion. There is only one way to beat anonymous malice on the Internet. Outlaw the anonymous. Give every net user a digital ID, to be visible at all times, linked to your name, soc sec #, home address and a recent photo.

We're all anonymous here, and thsat comes with a price - the annoying buzz of people with incompatible social interfaces. They're like hackers, whatever defense routines we set up, there is always another way to annoy. We've been through this discussion a gazillion times, and there is no other solution than to get massively radical and fuck up good things to get at the bad things.

So have a cuppa tea, bisquits on the house, kick back yer feet and chill. It's a beautiful day. :rose:

ps. and hell yeah, anna's AV is mega cute

Just posted thison the linked thread

From what I have just read, everyone seems to be enraged by “one bombs”, but hardly anyone is upset by “five bombs”. Aren’t they just as distorting, even if far more desirable? Scores/ratings are distorted on both ends of the spectrum, and who knows, maybe even in the middle too.

Maybe a compromise decision (if the coding is feasible) would be to allow voting by “anonymous”, but not to use their votes in the calculation of a submission’s rating. This would allow the trolls (ones or fives) to vent their feelings, but would have no effect on the writing’s score. – I think that Literotica already does something like this by occasionally sweeping the votes and automatically removing votes it considers bogus. Unfortunately the software is not very sophisticated and removes many honest votes as well as the trash.

This is just MHO. :rose:

ps: If these thoughts are duplicates then please ignore them. :rose:

They are great suggestions. The problem I have is how does Lit define troll? It would have to be objective, otherwise who decides what constitutes a troll post? You'd have to say something like x number of 1 votes in y time means the voter is a troll. What if somebody is one under the troll cut-off score?

I do know that Laurel conducts periodic sweeps to combat this as Anna pointed out. It may be though that she doesn't do it unless someone says something about it. I really don't know how it works.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to sound negative and I know I do. It's unfortunate because votes are tied to prizes in contests, so the numbers do mean something concrete. This is why I care about comments over votes and just reading and learning overall.

I'm a tad in the dark about " 5 bombs" are you saying that someone votes on their own stuff as alts?
because as far as I know you can't cast a vote from the same ip address twice on the same poem or story.

If you mean recruiting people to " vote on your stuff"...well jesus that's par for the course here.

I just hope that if you do feel like going on strike, at least constinue to write so that you can post a bunch of new poems and stories the minute it ends. :D

I haven't stopped writing. I have several poems and two stories ready to submit. I'm not sure WHERE they'll be submitted, though. Depends on the outcome of this "nonsense."

As I understand it, that's 5 votes from all your "friends" -- and, in the opinion of "Anonymous" is the only reason I have any Hs at all.

Hey Babydoll....

Still love me after that last post?

I have to write a poem about Orpheus now. I don't think it wants to be a sonnet though.

IP "spoofing" is done all the time by SPAMers. - Aside from that, if someone can "1" vote all your poems in a short time period, they can also "5" (or any other value). Is that fair?

Mayby Orpheus is more interested in a Terzanelle....

If someone is that interested, and that determined in getting 5's or giving ones, I just gotta feel bad for them.

Is it fair?
No I suppose it isn't...but the world is a flawed place

It's like many of us have said all along, it's the words that count, not the numbers...

I thought about bitch-slapping you--can you tell the concept of bitch slapping fascinates me?--but it's more fun to torture you with form poetry.

Maybe I will write a terzanelle. I like writing them.

Love you, too. Nice to see you around again. smithpeter used to say "we leave but we always come back."

That's a hint to everyone to enter the contest if you haven't already.

Ok Imp. You're trying to do something good for Lit. No more hijacking for me. :rose:

Impressive, if you think the trolls are bad here at Literotica, you should surf over to the *switches to resounding evil voice* Portal of Evil */voice* website.. they're a bunch of morons that dedicate their time to finding things they dislike on the internet. They have an entire section for Literature.

just curious, will you continue your crusade for justice against the troll nation once your H's are restored? :D

and, for anon who asked: nope, I didnt delete my stuff because of a troll, it was more serious than someone bombing my poetry, its the whole attitude of the toplist. Just being there does NOT mean you are good. There are poets on here who should be there and yet they dont even HAVE H;s by their BEST work and then there are those poems, I use the term lightly, the ones that are all about, love, passion, tears, gifts of love,( gag) all telling poems, recitations of words that should be banned from serious poetic work etc... it disgusted me to the point that is the reason I pulled my work, so troll, gloat, I laugh in your pitiful little face!!! :p
