;) Sister, sister, sister there are people who miss the point. Life should
be a day at the beach. When they forget that it's hell in a handbasket. I guess
the left and right coasts aren't that different if you're looking in the same
direction: SEAWARD! You can't worry about trolls or dickheads when you have
your back to them. Because you're looking SEAWARD! Take care my dear
have a glass of merlot (?) for me. ;)

WHEW! My life has meaning again. You scared me there for a minute beach brother. ;)

Merlot is my favorite!

I had a big thing for Chilean Merlots for a while... while I was a student.

After my admission that I didn't think I had ever been trolled I've noticed something... I had a vague mental record of the scores for all my old poems on the site. Over the last few days I've noticed some extra votes for each of my poems, and a decrease in the total score befitting of a campaign of 1-bombing (2 years of statistics and datahandling has given me the ability to notice and understand mean changes pretty easily). So, I guess I'm not immune. It doesn't really affect me at all though, only really bothers me in so far as if someone genuinely thought my poem was terrible I would have appreciated some comments as to why they thought this...

I'm just gonna turn all voting off, so if someone has a problem with one of my poems, or with myself in general, they will have to express their feelings in words, rather than with a simple click of the mouse, and therefore, hopefully, something worthwhile and constructive can be achieved. As I have said, the numbers are pretty meaningless to myself anyway, so its no skin from my nose. Makes me think though... what have I done to attract this attention... does someone wanna pull my Ponytail at recess (we call it Lunchtime in Britain, recess sounds like something you have after an operation)?

Ponytail?

 ..." does someone wanna pull my Ponytail at recess"

I wouldn't pull your ponytail if you were the next to the last guy on earth.
Now if you were were the last gal that would be different. Sorry about
your new problem. I like the way you are taking care of it.

I'm a tad in the dark about " 5 bombs" are you saying that someone votes on their own stuff as alts?
because as far as I know you can't cast a vote from the same ip address twice on the same poem or story.

If you mean recruiting people to " vote on your stuff"...well jesus that's par for the course here.

Interesting comment. I seldom throw a "1 bomb" just as I seldom throw a "5." Unfortunately, too many people seem to vote 5's on verbiage that is far from superb (in my humble opinion). That is a much bigger problem -- trash (or as I so ofter call it, crapola) passing for a posting that warrants accolades.

If more people were honest in this direction, I suspect fewer of us would be hiding behind anonymous, to protect our postings from retribution.

So the real problem, in your view, is that too many people disagree with you? If more people shared your tastes Lit would be a better place? For whom? And how humble is your opinion, really?

You are certainly entitled to your perspective but it is no more valid than anyone else's, and I have found your comments no more helpful than blind praise. The one comment you gave me in which you cited thinking behind your vote does not survive examination of the larger field of poetry ("it sounds like prose"), and when I politely tried to engage you in discussion you vanished.

I am curious, too, about the retribution you fear. If the voting does not curently reflect the true merits of a poem, why should you care if some small-minded readers gave you low votes because they don't like you? It wouldn't mean your poems are bad, only that the score doesn't reflect the quality.

You may or may not be a good writer-- I don't know which poems are yours-- but as a critic there are logical inconsistencies in your approach.

...as you do, and as flyguy said you don't explain further?
Your quote:
"Believe it or not, an accomplished author, posted on Literotica with all "H"s with several novels and a number of short stories under my belt.

None of which are crapola."
Is the "H" that important to you? This suggests a possibiltiy, perhaps you were 5 bombed. Why so sensitive, so protective of this sacred "H'? I also notice no mention of poems.
How about stating why you consider something crapola?
Here

I noticed a mistake, tell me about it
It's been strafed several times, I doubt, because of the mistake.

I always leave a 5, except in the following cases:
1.) I'm pissed off
2.) It is not up to the standard of what I perceive is an excellent writer; it has serious flaws.
Then I leave a 4, I can count the number of times I left a 3 one one hand (oh, shit, I only have four fingers, make that two hands) the reasons being:
1.) I'm pissed off
2.) The author has shown signs of serious pomposity

You've been challenged, rip away, here, now, suggest an improvement.

But, at least you have good taste, and you do leave a reason, even if a little short.

Fuck anonymous
Fuck the sensitive that delete the comments

Oops, well fuck my H's, my mentions, I got four votes, I'm happy.

So you're afraid that by being honest someone would take revenge against your poems and stories?

So your scores are more important than your integrity and beliefs?

Why should I take any kind of criticism or advice from someone who feels qualified to call poetry " crapola" but hasn't got enough confidence in him/herself or his/ her work to be able risk the fact that someone may take away an "H"?

and I'm suspect of anyone who uses the word "verbiage'
it's trite and smarmy.

I'm afraid , in my eyes at least, you've just outed your motives and your ego.

Carry on oh little troll

I really am glad you posted this. I get feedback from trolly and usually the fb doesn't tell me much. Emailing trolly usually doesn't do much good either. I too have wondered about his/her abilities when it comes to writing poetry. I'm getting a bit tired of receiving the kind of fb I get from him and not being able to read his work because he's hiding his identity. I personally would not 1 someone just because of his comments on my poems.

this looks alot like a PM I got today
from someone trying to be >> KOI <<
I blew it off that they project that they live below "SEE'" level
then My new poems ratings took a dump.
It saddens me that someones unhappiness has spilled into
others literary creations, its like a hail storm or a heat wave
it will pass but another will come~

Art, please keep me out of your voting/bombing/angst problems. If you got bad votes it was not from me. - If it will make you happy, I will promise to never vote, comment, review, nor even read anything that you write at Literotica. - Go play with your friends and leave me alone. I have never done anything to you except respond honestly to PMs that you sent to me. As we finally agreed, we don't even know each other. I would prefer to keep it that way! Let us agree to disagree or at least not contest each other's right to a personal POV.

It is Easter.

There is one thing I know (or at least believe) about you, me and few others. We always comment under our own usernames--praise or criticism.
And I do understand Art being suspicious. Those anonymous messages can really get to you and make you wonder about everyone.

" I will promise to never vote, comment, review, nor even read anything that you write at Literotica."

I find it curious that you have less than 75 comments for the year, I only recall seeing a couple and I read quite extensive lits new poems. There-fore I was unaware that you read my poetry much less others. I except others differences and the sun and the moon are in two seperate worlds in two seperate skies and every once in awhile they fill the same sky, as long as they don't collide I will not worry.

Eve is right it is hard to point fingers at anon shadows
but it sure smells fishy! no pun intended just a good discription!

It may be way off, but it's a darn interesting thought.

if it actually IS about resurrection, it is very well put.

the phrasing, waiting for someone to come out of somewhere, is outstanding....if that's what it refers to. :)

I think he is standing outside the bathroom, toothbrush in hand, tapping his toe.

Still makes for a good poem. :)

I don't want to see anything come out of Mick Jagger.

I always liked going to the neighbors house and
asking if the girls could 'cum ... out ... and ...play with me!'

I can sympathize with your frustration and your anger.
But they fact is there will always be trolls, there will always be low votes, and nasty comments.
people can register and vote and make an obnoxious comment and then never use the name again.

what you have to do, and it's easier said than done, is ignore the low votes, ignore the bullshit, and pay attention to the good people who offer constructive criticism and object feedback.

trolls are usually people who have 1) an agenda, 2) a mental illness, 3) no friggin life and they get off on the attention. 4) Salieri like characters who think they have talent but no one else seems to recognize it,,so they go after the " Mozart's" of the group, if you will.

The fact that you have attracted some means you are doing something right...or some whack job has a crush on you and is doing the written equivalent of pulling your pigtails at recess.
: )
Hang in there
:rose:

I had to comment on this. It really made me laugh which I needed today.

I notice the first two days after submitting my work that people drop by, and slam me with 25% with no feedback to improve. But within 3 to 5 days, my scores go way up. I haven't seen anyone on here that has such shitty work, deserving to be slammed like that, and have to agee with what Tathagata has said here.

I do read a lot of poetry here, but it's not very often that I vote. I do feel I've been very honest when I have. Most of my time here at Lit is goofing off in the playground threads, but I would like to get more involved in rating and reviewing. But the last thing I want is for someone to attack me for my honesty, and it wouldn't be done anonomously.

Another thing, I will not stop writing due to this turds
