I donate my time regularly with food banks, homeless centers, and so on, and have personally given more money than I know how to keep track of out of my very limited income. Literally my entire stimulus check and then some went to house a woman recovering from a surgery that made it risky for her to be sleeping outside, until she could get her house in place. And I got no tax breaks for it. I did and do it because I love people. I just happen to know that the Source of loving people unconditionally without personal reward is God.

Because they don't want the strings the federal government attached to the money. They don't want a corrupt, bloated federal government meddling in their schools. And because they understand that it's not the job of the government. The care of the community and the hurting in that community belongs to the individual and the churches and non-profs best equipped to do the work. And parents that CAN provide food for their kids, even if it's pb&j sandwiches (I survived on less growing up), it's their job to feed their own children, not the state's. And when government gets out of the social welfare business, they don't need nearly as much in taxes and there are more resources to invest in that care by the people whose job it actually is. And the government employees who have spent way too long mooching off the taxpayer money can go get real jobs.

Problem is, you don't think you should need to do anything for others yourself. You want the government to do charity for you. That's called wealth redistribution, and that is a fundamental Marxist idea.

I'm promoting nothing of the kind. I am rejecting social welfare programs because they take money away from taxpayers, both those poor who need the money (I grew up in that household) and the middle class and wealthy who are better able to directly impact the needs of others, either directly or through charitable organizations designed to do it on a larger scale. If the government isn't taxing as much, because they aren't spending as much, everyone, including the poor who need the money most, are able to keep more money. And businesses can invest more in their employees, including pay raises, that give the poor more money and move them upwards in the... Wow. It's like we have seen this happen before. When the government backed off. I'm not advocating for ignoring the poor. I am advocating for not stealing wealth from those who earn it, so they can voluntarily help the poor. As Christians have been proven VERY likely to do.

If I saw people praying to it, then yes. And I take major umbrage with those who act as though Trump is a Christian man or as though he will save America. There is One Savior, and Trump ain't Him. I don't put the flag on the level of the Cross. I hold God higher than country, but recognize that doing that makes me a better citizen of my country. Why you insist on thinking I'm some kind of Trump acolyte is beyond me. I just happen to agree with some of his policies, like some of the people who surround him while he's governing, and consider him a far better option than Biden. That's about the sum of it. Christianity is an outgrowth of Judaism. The Old Testament said Messiah will come. The New Testament says the prophesies were fulfilled in Jesus. There is One God, One Way. Think about it. If there were many ways, why would God need to come as a Man and suffer and die? He would have said, Just try that way, or that way. And it would be a cruel God to leave confusion over how to get to Him if He holds men accountable. But He left His Book, and preserved it for us to access even today. Pretty cool actually.
