U.S. politics isolation tank

I'm not sure that's constitutional. It might fall over state power but I know how you people love the federal government and think they can do no wrong.
You are so, soooo right, WD!

The invasion of Iraq.... Gitmo.... Wall Street bailouts... I'd go on, but really, I'm too exhausted from all this cheerleading.

Me, I get a stiffie every time I think about how my phone calls to Canada might be entertaining some CIA spook sitting in an office at ATT.

And damn, how could a liberal guy like me not get all lathered up with happy happy at the thought of torturing more dark swarthy guys with hard to pronounce names? Man, that's hot stuff, yanno.

You people don't repeat the party line? Honestly, I don't hear much original thinking here. Not from liberal blog link of the day, Roscoe. With the possible exception of Netzach in those moments she gets off the cuff and takes off her liberal lens.

No, I meant gulag as an expression. As in we, the federal government, command you to buy health insurance or we'll come up with some way to spank your ass if you resist. I'm not sure that's constitutional. It might fall over state power but I know how you people love the federal government and think they can do no wrong.

Come on man, don't I at least get some credit for all my Barlett, Frum and Am Con links?

Not to my knowledge, but I'm not sure I've read all of it.

What's your view on Assange? Villain, or hero?
He was irresponsible with some of the material, but, HERO. Why have a black box government?

ETA: I could have done a search of the thread to figure out an answer...but, I guess it works as its own segue?

Gitmo is closed dude and there are only 500,000 toes in Iraq. Hey, here is great idea. The surge worked so well in Iraq, let's try it in Afghanistan.

Great oversight by the way in the congress. Making sure all the baseball players weren't cheating and the oil profits were legit. Fanny and Freddie, yeah dems had that covered.

Deflecting the point, as usual.

No one gave a shit until the files were dated post 2008. I wonder why? What changed in 2008 to make Holder even pay attention? Hmmmm

Obama is the new Bush. Even better. It took Bush six years to lose the House.

WD, I have the impression that you evaluate everything through the prism of red vs. blue.

I don't.

For me, the question is not: "is it good for the dems?" but rather: "is it good for the country?" Good or bad, according to the standards of ethics, strength, and sustainability.

Therefore, I find the Wikileaks question very muddy - meaning, to me the right answer's not clear at all. It depends. Depends on what's being leaked, and when. The "when" relevant not because of who may be in office, but because of the potential consequences of disclosure at a particular time.

As for Wikileaks...

Um, on behalf of my country, I humbly apologize for the negative stereotype of Americans that was presented in that one episode of "Little Mosque on the Prairie". Unfortunately, the catastrophic damage is done but we will make sure to include a positive stereotype on another hardly-viewed Canadian sitcom. Promise.

Sorry.

Have a nice day.

Pfc. Bradley E. Manning should be shot. Or hung. He can pick. The Wiki site is no worse than the NYTs. My point was when it was Bush shit weeks ago, no one cared. But OMG, this is what Hillary did and said. Now lets get these guys!

By this logic, I would expect that no one on Fox News or the Rush program has had anything to say about the most recent Wikileaks dump. I don't watch or listen to those sources so I don't know but perhaps you do.

MasterCard stopped handling WL transactions: is MasterCard in Obama's pocket? William Krystol wants Assange "whacked" or "neutralized or snatched" so I guess now The Weekly Standard and the Krystol wing of Neocon Central must be on the President's side, too.

Cool.

The 2009 deficit is the current all-time high, at $1.42 trillion.

Seems to me if we taxed the rich this year at the higher rate, that 70 billion wouldn't have much of an effect. It would knock it down to 1.413 trillion right?

MWY says the rich cut is 700 billion over ten years. One year would be 70 billion. Just showing my math. :)

Like if your neighbor had a 1420 dollar house payment and had no money and you gave him 7 dollars. I doubt he'd be jumping for joy. He'd probably just take his wife for a Happy Meal at McDonalds with it.

All of this is having an impact on Congress, which this week voted overwhelmingly to de-fund any effort to shut down the Gitmo prison. It also barred the Justice Department from transferring detainees to the U.S. homeland.

George W. Bush be looking more smarter every day.
