USS Dark Fire (IC)

Hora

“You are a hard man to convince. I like that" Hora complimented the Klingon Commander.

"Dark Fire, please display medical scans of parasite’s attachment to dead crew members” Hora ordered. The images showed evidence of past parasite control. Then she grabbed his arm and directed his attention to the next cell.

“In this cell, is a parasite, without a host” Hora said. The silver metal pushing against the containment field.

“My, that is a big strong arm” Hora said to Captain Jo’vak as she released his arm.

“Dark Fire please show the playback of the silver parasites, infecting my security escorts.” Hora requested. The video of the parasite played in slow-motion for the Klingon.

“Lastly, there is something the parasites have difficulty knowing. They don’t or can’t access older memories. So if you have a fellow Klingon or Fleet officer you have known for years, like on the 48% infected U.S.S. Endeavour. Ask them about an old memory, that is difficult to look up, and see if they can still answer it” Hora challenged the Klingon Commander.

“Turn off all sound and make cells wall opaque” Hora ordered then she said “Or since these parasites have no honor, make a call to Commodore Daniel MacPherson. He will order you to do something dishonorable. I can almost guarantee it” Hora suggested. She knew it was a huge gamble. But so far, the parasites did not seem to understand the federation’s laws and rules very well.

Stardate 29870520.2300

“All Klingon warriors are strong,” The Captain Jo’Vak replied with a snort. Though every time he looked at Hora he looked down her uniform at her tits.

“I have no parasites on my ship, according to the data you sent us to scan with. And Federation Honor is different than Klingon Honor.”

Tapping the symbol on his chest he ordered the Captain of the I.K.S. D’Nara to attend him, as soon as the Klingon Captain appeared Jo’Vak shoved him into a cell and hit the control locking him inside. “Is he a.. parasite.. or honorable Klingon?” Jo’Vak demanded.

A quick scan and Leve 5 Shielding in place and Lt. Aegeri informed them that the Captain was infected.

“This is preposterous!” The Prisoner demanded. “Let me out!”

“Where did we meet?”

“WHAT?! Why would I care where we met Jo’Vak!”

“Because you married my sister that day!” Jo’Vak replied.

Looking at Hora, Jo'Vak smiled. Now show me the parasite inside him. Bring it out!”

Hora

She knew she got lucky with Captain Jo’vak not calling Commodore MacPherson. But the next request might be a bit tricky as well.

“We are not sure how to do that without killing the host.” Hora admitted. "Let me try asking."

“Parasite, if you leave Captain K'rodor Vogh of I.K.S. D’Nara body without killing him. I shall offer you something you like.” Hora said to the parasite infected Captain. “If you don’t, we’ll remove you the hard way” Hora said with no emotions. But deep down, she really did not want to do that.

Stardate 29870520.2315

“What are you taking about you crazy Orion Whore?!!” Captain K’Rodor son of Vogh bellowed.

“Why is it they always get vulgar when they’re caught?” Hora asked,

“Prove he’s what you claim!” Jo’Vak ordered. He needed proof if he was going to survive the High Council. “Prove he’s Infected with these parasites.”

“Parasite, singular. They’re a one parasite. Like Borg.” Hora told him. “Unfortunately, we can’t force him from the body without killing the body.”

Pounding against the barrier the prisoner fired it’s Disrupter against the shield.

“Containment shield 90%. 80%. 70%. 60%. Increasing power to shield.” Dark Fire reported. Apparently Klingon Disrupters had gotten upgraded to do that amount of damage to the Dark Fire’s Force Fields.

“Shrink Shield by 80 percent, reduce oxygen Levels by 90%,” Maybe if the damned think passed out, or died they could revive the host after it left the body.

Lt Sol

“Captain, the cells are also equipped with environmental controls, heat, cool, shock, and a vaporization ray” Lt Sol said trying to be helpful

“Thanks, but the parasites don’t feel pain and have no trouble with the cold of space. Heat might work, but I doubt it, as it is pretty hot near suns and on many planets. Shock might be good to try as many metals conduct electric.” Hora thought out loud. “I think we’ll hold off on vaporization, that would be the end of Captain K'rodor Vogh”

“Aye, aye, Captain” Lt Sol replied and then hit Captain Vogh with a good dose of electrical energy, not enough to kill, but enough to his body twitch around.

Hora

“Captain Jo’vak, with all the parasites being one. I warn you, that the other ships will take hostile action soon. I worry about a warp core breach… or something equally destructive. Might want make sure the Tah’Kaht or B’Moth are ready in case there is a problem.” Hora advised.

Stardate 29870520.2330

K’rodor jerked and screamed, his teeth grinding together for minutes before he stopped and glared at Sol. “You Die first,” he snapped. Before he looked at Jo’Vak “The Rite of Ascension hurt more,” He told the other Captain before spiting in Hora’s direction.

“Your pet dinosaur has no fangs,” he told her with a ruthless smile. “Let me out and I’ll prove it,” He added as a challenge.

But if he was released to fight, he could infect all three of them in a moment’s notice. The Security Guard was evidence of how fast an infect could take place.

“Captain, Infection rates on the other ships is climbing, rapidly. Commander Reeves is moving us so they can’t get a lock on our position.”

U.S.S. Akira 26%, U.S.S. Endeavour 68%, I.K.S. D’Nara 58%.”

Tapping his own comm device Jo’Vak gave orders to his ships to maintain self destruct distance from all other ships.

K'rodor was obviously lying about the pain, but he was Klingon. To show weakness was to be dishonorable.

Jo'Vak looked at Hora, "Show me a Parasite, or is this the only one you have?"

“Captain Jo’vak, if you look in this cell, there is a parasite, without a host” Hora said. The silver metal blob was pushing against the containment field. “That is what they look like out of a body. You can scan the substance in this cell and compare it to what is inside Captain K'rodor Vogh. The substance will be identical”

While Captain Jo’vak was checking and thinking about what she had showed him. Hora ordered LT Sol to “Make the walls opaque and shutdown sound” He did it.

She pressed her comm link.

“Commander Reeves, I don’t think we can allow those infected ship to keep spreading to other planets. We’ll need to take out their engines at the least. I’d also like to try and help the non-infected crew members on those federation ships. I think the Tah’Kaht and B’Moth will be joining us. Any recommendations?” Hora asked.

“Lt Sol… I think electric current might be something this parasite does not like. Get ready hit Captain K'rodor Vogh with a bigger dose” Hora ordered.

She waited for both Commander Reeves and Captain Jo’vak before she allowed the parasite to over hear their conversation.

Stardate 29870520.2320
“We have several options Captain.” Reeves reported.

“Option One... Drop enemy shields and beam a select few of the infected from each ship, to our ship, and beam the rest of the infected into space. This leaves us with Surviving crew and additional ships.”

“Option two… We Drop enemy shields and beam the uninfected to our ship and destroy the infected ships. This would cos us a great deal of energy and time. Also possibly costing us time and damage to us.’

“Option Three… we take what we have, and fight our way out. My least favorite.”

“No matter what, we need enough of the parasites to examine, and experiment on. See if the scientists can find a way to separate them from hosts without killing them. And the rate the infected are spreading we need to move fast.”

U.S.S. Akira 31%, U.S.S. Endeavour 72%, I.K.S. D’Nara 63%.” Dark Fire reported.

Jo'Vak nodded to Captain Hora, his brother by marriage was infected according to the readings in front of him. "Make the parasite leave him. Let him have an honorable death!"

“Commander, last time we tried to transport the infected people, the parasite departed before the transport was complete. Are you suggesting we transport them in a different way? Maybe a combination of containment field and transport?” Hora asked

Then she turned to Lt Sol.

“Dark Fire contain the parasite if it departs” Hora told the AI.

“Reopen the walls and sound” Hora ordered Lt Sol. Hora was familiar with the effects of electric current on Orion bodies. She hoped Klingon bodies were about the same. She thought they might be a bit tougher, but not much. 30 Milliampere of current is what Lt Sol had used the first time. It had caused muscle freezing, pain and twitching.

“Go with 150 Milliamperes” Hora ordered Lt Sol. This level of current caused extreme pain, respiratory arrest, severe muscle reactions and death was possible but unlikely. In the case of death, medical personnel could restart a person’s heart, so true death was unlikely. However, Hora was not going to send anyone in that cell until the parasite was contained.

Lt Sol

“Fangless? At least I’m not an organism that too weak to live on its own” He stated with a smile and threw the switch. lightening arched all over the cell as Captain Vogh was zapped with a powerful dose of current.

“We’ll turn it off if you leave that body, parasite?” Hora yelled over the arching

Stardate 29870520.2325
“A modified containment field and teleport in synch Would allow us to eject the parasites from the ships, including ours. Although it would require the removal of the infected crew as well.” Reeves reported.

Klingon were built better and stronger and had a mindset that allowed them to ignore pain. Plus it was dishonorable to show pain.

Unfortunately the silver parasite was tapped into the nervous system of it’s host. Nor did it have the psychological training to resist the electrical shocks.

Falling to the floor The Klingon Captain twitched and spasmed, the silver parasite oozing from his eyes, ear, nose, and mouth, pooling on the floor next to the head as it continued to spasm like iron filaments on a magnetic drum set.

When the power was finally cut off the symbiote formed into a silver man, before it took on color and form of armour. “Release, and you will be allowed to live.”

“Hey, now we are talking. However, can you hold that thought. I will be back in a few seconds” Hora replied to the silver parasite.

“Turn off all sound and make all cells wall opaque” Hora ordered Lt Sol. Once the walls were solid. “Dark fire, contain the parasite in that cell. Make sure Captain Vogh is free of parasites and if so, get him transport him to sickbay” Hora ordered

“Commander Reeves… Execute option 1… use all batteries, all weapons, all fighters. Everything we have. And I do mean everything. We need to take those shields down. Start with the lowest infected ship. Wait until we transport Captain Jo’vak and his security personnel back to his ship. Then attack. I’ll be on the bridge in 30 seconds.”

“Captain Jo’vak… in the words of your greatest warrior, Kahless. A leader is judged not by the length of his reign but by the decisions he makes. You have made a great decision today. We fight as allies. It is a good day to die!” Hora ended with the klingon battle saying. “Transport”

Captain Jo’vak transported back to his own ship.

“Commander Reeves…. ATTACK” Hora said as she headed for the bridge.

Stardate 29870520.2330
On the Bridge Commander Reeves gave orders like he’d rehearsed them in his head, or gone through a thousand practice drills truth be told it was both.

“RED ALERT! BATTLE STATIONS! All Hands on deck. Secure all Hatches! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!”

“Fill all launch tubes. Engineering spin up the Transwarp drive: Shunt the power to the shields, life support, weapons Batteries. Defense Grid Full power. Prepare enemy suppression barrage. Man all weapons. Medical prepare for incoming. Torpedoes prepare first salvo of torpedoes is to be covariant paratrinic, followed by the Captain’s special.”

“All crew, including pilots, our goal is to take out shields. Not to injure or damage enemy ships or crew.”

“Transporter room release controls to the Dark Fire for Automatic Rescue.” The dark fire could automatically target the parasite infected personnel faster than any humanoid could. “Darkfire, target the command structure for rescue, shunt the rest of the parasites into space.”

When the Captain Gave the word he’d already targeted friendly and hostile ships and force locked the fighter pilot navecoms to that data. No need for friendly fire today.

Captain Jo’vak transported back to his own ship.

Commander Reeves…. ATTACK” Hora said as she headed for the bridge.

“ALL HANDS! ALL BATTERIES COMMENCE FIRING! LAUNCH ALL TUBES!”

In the blink of an eye the Dark Fire exploded into action. Fighters launching even as cannons and torpedoes ripped across space. They had all prepared and practiced for this. Torpedoes fired at the Dark Fire were wiped out by defense cannons or Fighter pilots as it’s own torpedoes blew through shielding and exploded inside shields to overload conduits, power grids and solipsistic gel packs.

L'Sa kept her fingers pressed against nerve endings in her husband's back to relieve his pain as much as she could, one more person in medical wasn't needed at the moment, they needed her here more than there.

Hora

By the time Hora was on the bridge all she saw was explosions, burst of phaser fire, and photon torpedoes all over the place. The battle was intense and complex. She did not dare to assume command of the bridge. She allowed Commander Reeves to remain in charge of the battle as he had a better tactical awareness.

She aided him by assuming the vacant science station.

“Commander, USS Akira is darting forward, weaving through the disruptor fire from B’Moth.” Hora yelled out. But Commander Reeves had already seen it and hammer the Escort Class ship with torpedoes. It’s shields flicking from the beating.

Then USS Dark Fire shuttered as disruptor fire hit the aft shields. D’Nara was on Dark Fire’s starboard quarter trying to draw their fire. “Commander, Akira’s shields are down to 10 percent” Hora informed Commander Reeves. She and the Commander knew, it was more important to take down the Akira now.

Lt. Commander Shino “Tiger” Mc’Leo

Shino Mc’Leo was flying his fighter, like a Caitain on catnip who recently had sex with an Orion. It was a beautiful thing to watch.

“Tiger, careful there is heavy fire from the D’Nara” His wingman called out.

“Chill, Shadow, I'm charging in solo on this wave” Tiger said as he vectored his fighter for a close strafing run. However, his approach was so erratic the D’Nara’s disruptors could not hit his small ship. Then he opened up on the shields in a long-concentrated burst.

“Micro shield breach in sector 6.6.7” the cockpit computer told him. He quickly released a hellfire energy cluster bomb which passed through the micro breach and hit the D’Nara port disruptors. The weapon stopped firing from the damage.

Tiger pulled up and away from a cloud of laser blasts in his direction.

“Tiger! You are only to attack the shield… Captain’s orders!” Shadow yelled at Tiger

“Dude, my bad on that, I was just in the moment” Tiger said back.

Stardate 29870520.2332
“Command Actual to Callsign Tiger. Do that again and I’ll have those wings." Reeves demanded over the comm chatter of the pilots. “And stay with your wingman. That’s an Order, Tiger.” He’d talk with the Captain about dropping him to LT status later. That extra pip was making him overly cocky.

Maybe a round of boxing with the Captain would lower his ego a little.

“Major K’alena Prepare boarding teams. Target One is the IKSD'Nara. Klingon only Marines Bridge, Battle Bridge, Engineering. Once aboard, lock it down. Take Control assist in the fight.”

“Target two is The USS Akira.. Same Orders.”

“Teams are ready, Dark Fire Actual. Teams are ready.” She replied. She didn’t talk much but she was always ready for a good fight.

“Helm control take us nose to nose on the D'Nara. I want those shields. NOW!”

Meter by meter the distance closed as Dark Fire pounded the ship, the only reason it had lasted this long was the continuous bombardment from the other three ships.

The Klingon allies were focused on the D’Nara pounding it with a multitude of phaser arrays.

As the D'Nara's shields flickered Reeves gave the order. “Major GO! Dark Fire Operation Harvest!”

2333
Three minutes into the fight and the D'Nara was theirs, but due to a certain over enthusiastic party in the fighter squadrons it would be several minutes before it would be of help.

“Focus fire on the Excalibur!” Reeves ordered, looking over at the Captain, she was manning a science station instead of the battle, hopefully no one put it in a report, he’d have to monitor them for a few weeks to make sure no one did.

2334
“The Endeavor just lost power!?” One of the science crewmen yelled out. “Looks like internal sabotage!”

“Major, take the Endeavor. Go! Go! Go!.” Before he’d even finished the marines were already there, they’d all been itching for a fight, and this was the first one out of practice in months.

Selected Crewman beamed out and re-materialized in the cold depths of space, the parasites unable to move fast enough to avoid containment fields and transporter beams.

A lot of good people had died due to the parasites, and hopefully they’d find a way to save future crewman, but they just didn’t have the space to contain them all, not safely.

2335
Watching as the holo display shifted the D'Nara and the Endeavor both from red to green he had a small cheer in his heart. They were winning.

Hora was amazed at how well Commander Reeves fought Dark Fire. He was brilliant and the ship had taken some damage on the aft port side shield but that was it. Everything else was so minor it was not really worth mentioning. And this considering the space around them was alive with energy—pulses of light streaking between ships, torpedoes, and shields flaring under the onslaught.

She had tried to help as much as possible from the science station. Provide valuable inform when she could. She was now watching the Akira and the Excalibur the last two parasite controlled ships. She knew the Akira shields were at less than 10%. Then she saw a small power shift in Excalibur's photon torpedo tubes. She knew what was about to happen and there was no time to tell Commander Reeves.

“Attention on the bridge, this is Captain Hora I have the deck.” She informed everyone.

“Full sublight, come right to course 130 mark 9” She ordered the helmsman

“Aye, Aye Captain, that will put us right between Akira and Excalibur, broadside to both ships!” Helmsman advised.

“Understand, Lee helm get ready to put a tractor beam on Akira, as soon as shields are down.” Hora ordered.

“Captain, we are taking a beating on our starboard shields” The Lee Helm told Hora.

“Akira shields are down.” Dark Fire informed the bridge team. “

“Teleport marines over, and tractor beam that ship!” Hora ordered.

“Marines away and tractor beam established.” Lee Helm reported.

“Excalibur launching a volley of photon torpedoes at Akira” Dark Fire reported.

“HARD TO STARBOARD use the Akira as a pivot point.” Hora ordered. Suddenly everyone on the bridge understood what Hora had been doing. The parasites on Excalibur had figure out their pattern and as soon as shields were down. They lost another of their ships to the federation. This time, they were going to let the marines aboard and then blow up the ship with no shields. Killing everyone on Akira.

Hora had used the Akira as an anchor to spin USS Dark Fire around faster than normally possible. It had also allowed her to stand between any photon torpedo fired at the ship. The maneuver allowed Dark Fire’s defensive batteries to take out a few photon torpedoes before they impacted Dark Fire’s shields.

“BRACE FOR IMPACT” Hora yelled as the photon torpedoes slammed into their shields

“Starboard and forward shields down to 22%” Dark Fire reported as the bridge team was bounced around.

“RETURN FIRE!” Hora yelled as she hung on to the science station

The weapons officer fired all the forward main batteries. The retaliation volley was devastating. The forward shields of Excalibur buckled under the attack. A stray heavy phaser struck her port engine, causing Excalibur’s warp drive to go down.

“ALL BACK FULL” Hora yelled “And recall all fighters!”

She turned to the communication Officer “Order all ships to back away from Excalibur”

“Captain, we lost the tractor beam lock on Akira” Lee Helm reported. The pivot maneuver had tossed USS Akira away from the battle. USS Dark Fire was a lot more massive than an escort ship.

“Dark Fire… parasite infection level on Excalibur?”

Hora turned to Commander Reeves “At 2100 she was 64% infected. Thoughts? Not sure we can take a Ambassador Class Heavy Cruiser with the marines we have remaining”

Stardate 29870520.2340

“If we pull the Marines from the first two ships IKS D’Nara and USS Excalibur, plus half of the marines still on board, we can do it. The D’Nara and Endeavor should be able to man their own ships now that they know what’s gong on. Thanks to your conversations with them. And Captain’s Jo’Vak’s men beaming over to D’Nara.”

“With their shields down we can beam off all the infected crewmen into space and deal with the remaining uninfected safely. ” reeves replied to her. “Dark Fire crew complement of The Excalibur?"

“At 2330 Excalibur was 72% infected, with a crew complement of 1800 this means 1219 crewman are infected with 581 uninfected crew and civilians." Dark Fire replied. "A minimum crew of 125 can man all stations in battle."

"I say we take the ship, Sending the marines as suggested," Reeve added. "Captain?"

Commander Reeves was right, but what a horrible waste of life. She knew however there was no other way to do this quickly.

“Make it so, Commander” Hora ordered. She hated the parasite creature. As with many life forms, this one was so fearful, it just saw enemies all around it. It wanted to take over all threats and eliminate them. It wanted to conquer the federation.

"Dark Fire... how is the parasite growing in size? How is it able to infect so many crew members? And why not all of them?" She asked the AI.

Stardate 29870520.2345

As Reeves turned and gave orders to Major K’alena And started another “Operation Harvest” on the USS Akira and USS Excalibur the Dark Fire responded to The Captain's other questions.

“Theoretically the Silver Parasite is stripping mineral’s from it’s living hosts and the mineral composites of the ship. That may be why the Death of Captain Marcus took so long, it was Harvesting materials until it was able to be more independent.” Dark Fire replied. The autopsy of 2nd Lt. McGee indicates his body was completely depleted of any minerals’ including Calcium from his skeletal structure.

“I have not yet determined if it cannot inhabit a specific species, it’ simply taking time for the parasite to infest everyone. It may have been waiting to overtake myself and my crew but failing that began the process of taking over the other crews.”

“Capture of all hostile ships complete. Forty new parasite infested prisoners in security under maximum containment. One Crewmember lost during the “Hora Configuration". She fell from a gangway and broke her neck. No other casualties. Multiple injuries, none are class two or above.”

U.S.S. Dark Fire, Dreadnaught Class (XDC-4623786) 1 Lost. 15,650 Saved. U.S.S. Akira (NCC-62497) 40 lost, 88 Rescued. U.S.S. Excalibur (NCC-26517) 1219 Lost, 581 Rescued. U.S.S. "We are receiving multiple hails from the other vessels, all are requesting information."

“Dark Fire, stand down from red alert.” Hora ordered

“Dr L'Sa can you PLEASE get your patient off my bridge and back to sickbay!” Hora joked about Commander Reeves injuries. She smiled and grew serious “Thank you, that was the finest display of valor under fire I have seen. You saved all of us, all the federation ships and many of their crews. If you are up to it, I’ll be holding a planning meeting in my ready room in 6 hours. I have it from here” Hora informed her XO.

Then she turned to the communication officer Lt(jg) Reginal "Ren" York. “Let start answering all the questions.”

After she answered all their questions. She went back with Ambassador M'Chel into the holodeck and updated the P’Jem simulation on what they had learned

6 hours later

They were all in the Ready Room. The captains of all the ships were there, along with Ambassador M'Chel, Commander Reeves, Dr L’Sa and Captain Hora. Captain Grogit broke the silence, when he stood up and spoke.

“Captain, I might not be the brightest star in the constellation, but we can’t take on the federation! There are hundreds of ships. Our little fleet would be wiped out of existence!”

Coran Grogit was the new Captain of USS Akira a controversial choice. He was a Bolains. Bolians are a species of humanoids with a ridge of cartilage running from the top of their heads, down across their faces until the bottom of their necks. This ridge also runs across their tongues. Their skin colors range from a greenish blue to a blueish gray, with all sorts of tints of blue in between.

Bolians are a good-natured species. Many Bolians are very outspoken, but they may not always be very tactful. Thanks to their good nature they often worked in service professions, such as barbers and waiters. Hora had picked him to be the Captain of USS Akira. She was starting to regret that decision.

“Grogit… we are here to discuss options. Attacking the whole federation has not been suggested” Hora replied. “Now if you wait, I will get you up to speed on what we have done.”

“I guess I can wait” He answered and sat back down.

“All ships have been repaired except Excalibur’s warp drive. We are still fixing the engines, but I have been told repairs will be done in an hour or so.

We have tractor beamed all the space bodies with parasites into a decaying orbit around this gas giant. The parasite is all one creature. So I think this might give us some leverage with the parasite, should we wish to talk to it.” Hora explained.

“Dr L’Sa can report out the result of electric current and the parasite” Hora said “Go ahead doctor”

Stardate 29870521.0600

“We have determined that it takes 235 mA to force a Silver Parasite to exit a host. However, with most species 100-200mA is sufficient to kill the host. Now with the right treatment we can normally resurrect the subject. Unfortunately, with the Parasite infection, once they enter the host, they begin consuming the nervous system and stripping the body of essential minerals.”

“We did manage to extract 1 parasite from 1 host, a few minutes after infestation. That host is currently in a coma. The parasite was frozen using liquid nitrogen. It took five minutes for the parasite to revive itself.”

“From what we’ve determined once the parasite has achieved sufficient mass it separates off a part of itself and infects a new host. Each new parasite is fully grown and mature. There is no learning stage.”

Hora

“Well, I’ll be a fawning, ill-breeding, pignut” Captain Grogit exclaimed “You just need to freeze the life sucker”

“The freezing only works if done quickly.” Hora said to make sure Captain Grogit understood what Dr L’Sa had said. “The parasite seems to feast on the host to expand, but some hosts it keeps alive for a long time. It sounds like in most case, once you are infected you can’t be saved. But our science teams will keep working on the problem.”

Hora took a deep breath, which cause her uniform to stretch tightly across her chest. It was not her intent to show off her chest, she took the deep breath because the next part of the meeting would be more difficult.

“Ok, given what we know. Let’s talk about options.” Hora started “I believe we need to communicate to all of the federation and related allies the threat posed by the parasite. Secondly, we try, one more time, to talk to the parasite about a peaceful resolution to this attack. I don’t think that will work; however, I think we need to try. Ambassador M'Chel should lead this effort”

There was a lot of grumbling from the Klingons on this point. Hora quickly stated “Let me finish my suggestions and then I’ll open the floor to everyone”

“Next, we retake Deep Star 9. That seems to be a major parasite infection location. And the parasite seems to control senior officers there. I think we’ll be able to figure out the extent of the infection via records stored at the station. Taking the station will require multiple ships, but not all ships. I think a ship should return to Klingon space and another ship can warn other allies and other federations space stations.”

“Now, the floor is open for other options and comments” Hora ended her suggestions.

“Leadership must be earned! Not given to a manipulating Orion whore” Thuh Mactek, the female captain of B’Moth stated as a challenge to Hora. Her eyes glaring at Hora

“I do not claim to be the leader of any of these ships except for USS Dark Fire. However, I do believe it would be wise for us to coordinated our actions” Hora replied

“We can not go into battle without a leader!” Thuh Mactek insisted

“The hunter does not lie down with the prey.” Veval Krat, The New Captain of the D’Nara followed Thuh's Statement “No talking… Kill the Parasite in your holding cell”

“Well now, you, Klingon, sure don’t know a thing ‘bout good neighborly ways.” Captain Grogit countered “Ain't no respect in bein' rude to the hand that's helpin' you out. There is no honor in that”

That comment seemed to put the two Klingon captains on the defensive for the moment. Hora was suddenly glad she had pick him to be a Captain.

“Captain Hora has proven herself with her actions and in combat.” Captain Jo’vak stated. It was a statement, not an endorsement of her plan. As the senior Klingon in the room, he wanted the other Klingons to understand, he would be leader of the fleet, before any of them.

“We’ve also analyzed the food the astrogation officer ate before he turned up dead. Rare meat, liver, anything in the replicator high in minerals. Nothing with protein for the host so it wasn’t planning on keeping that host. However, other infected personnel continued their standard diet, supplementing Proteins and Minerals for sugars.” Security Chief Tyrande Aegeri informed everyone.

“Deep Star nine has a staff of 500,000 and maintains an arsenal of defensive batteries. We can’t simply ‘retake’ the base. I wish we could. We need a weapon effective against the parasite, that won’t affect uninfected individual’s.” Dr. L’Sa informed everyone. “Unfortunately, nobody seems to understand this takes time. Cures happen overnight after decades of hard work. Hopefully we can do this faster, maybe months. But it’s not tomorrow. Or today.”

“I recommend, we broadcast what we know to everyone on every frequency. Get more people on outside, and make it known that the Deep Star Nine is infected with the parasites. And that everyone should quarantine themselves.” Reeves commented. “It would cost lives of those stuck on the base, but if they evacuated it would be hell tracking them all down.”

“If I may,” Dark Fire commented as it’s holo image walked in through the door. “I propose that someone find the home-world of this species and make a solid threat of annihilation against it.”

“Blasphemous machine spirit.” Jo’Vak snapped. Like most klingon’s he didn’t trust AI’s. They hadn’t been born, so they had no soul’s, or honor. The soulless damned. Just like the Borg. Many, if not most, Klingon's believed that AI’s would be the next Borg War of 2381, a repeat of Wolf 359, hence Klingon’s and Romulan’s didn’t have AI’s on their ships. Even many smaller and older ships of the Federation didn’t have them. The Dark Fire had it due to it’s massive size and requirements for such.

"Me and Mine will seek out the alien parasite planet and remove it from existence." Jo'Vak growled.

“Attacking the alien parasite planet is my least favorite idea. I believe it would be heavily defended, and far more difficult than retaking Deep Star 9. Someone told me Dark Fire had enough fire power to destroy a Borg cube. A space station is not that different. Also taking the station, can also be done without combat, if we are clever. Nevertheless, we could and should start with a blockade. I think we could do it without other ships, using our fighters to stop inbound and out bound ships. However, it would be better if more ships join the blockade. That would buy us time, for the science teams to develop an effective weapon. How does everyone feel about this idea?” Hora asked.

“I believe this is a reasonable and logical maneuver, Captain.” Reeves replied. While at the far end of the table the Klingon's argued for an all out attack against the home-world and against Deep Star Base Nine.

“We should strike hard and fast!” Jo’Vak snapped.

“On the contrary, Calmer hearts may prevail, in this circumstance. Talking and following Captain Hora’s suggestions, my save millions of lives.” Ambassador M’Chel commented. “Science, not suicide, will prevail.”

“Captain Jo’Vak, your ships don’t travel fast enough to make getting to the Parasites home world effective. We know it’s rumored to be in the Andromeda galaxy, which would be generational for your ships. And that’s just rumors. And the Andromeda Galaxy is huge. So, we may find a ‘cure or repellent’ faster than we find their home-planet.” Commander Reeves reminded them. “The Best solution so far is a blockade, as Captain Hora recommended. Perhaps with proper negotiation we can get more ships to assist us but that takes talking peacefully. not going to war with the people we're trying to save."

Thuh Mactek

The room was starting to agree with the bloackade idea. Captain Thuh Mactek did not like or want it.

The female captain of B’Moth, stood up again “For not being a leader, it sounds like you are leading us, Orion bitch! I have researched your record, you are not fighter, you are cunt that used her scent to raise up in command. Well, I will not be so easily fooled as these silly males. I demand the right of “Nov”, for your dereliction of duty and cowardice! I challenge you to combat.”

Captain Jo’vak stood up and growled “Captain Mactek! You can’t challenge Captain Hora. She is not your superior. NOW SIT DOWN!” His eyes glaring at the Captain of B’Moth.

Thuh remained standing “Then I demand the Right of Vengeance! Captain Hora attacked D’Nara’s port disruptors, killing my son. I seek redress for his death by engaging the one responsible in single combat.”

All the Klingons in the room looked at Captain Hora. This was a direct challenge to her leadership. She stood up.

“I accept your challenge, Captain Mactek.” Hora replied “First, I will get the communication out to the federation and allies, then talk to the parasite. Then we can fight. You can pick the location, I'll pick the weapons.” Hora was not 100%, both her feet had not healed yet. It was stupid to accept Thuh’s challenge, but she saw no way out.

“We should be a-fightin' thay ...uhh parasite, not each othuurr!” Captain Grogit exclaimed “Y'all's right of vengeance should be directed at the parasite. That thing done took ovuurr 63% of the crew of the D’Nara”
