Valentines Day Contest Support Thread 2025

In the middle of editing my 9k word entry, I had a better idea that I felt was more on theme and started writing that. About 4k words into it, now. I had complained previously that I wasn’t sure what category my first piece truly fit into, shoehorning it into Mature, but this is pure Romance. A “friends with benefits” relationship that becomes more around the holiday, despite our heroine’s initial reluctance to define the relationship as anything more than casual.

Nice! My story came together in a weird way. Something way out of my ordinary. Hoping to finish the draft tomorrow then edit. Should be a shortish one.

Nope. We all have our universes and I've placed in a contest or two using the characters from the universe that I built. Yes it gives you the advantage of knowing and loving those characters - use it!

I'm debating skipping the April Fool's Contest unless I come up with something I really want to write for it. Now that my entries for this contest are finished, I want to focus solely on my Tiafell story, shit has gotten real in that one!

That being said, I have a stand alone story for the National Nude Day Contest in mind using characters from the "Tiafell Universe".

Damn, that's impressive! I wish I was that experienced. Usually I start a story and it takes a life of its own. I can't imagine having one done in my head. I hope I can finish my entry in time. I wanted to write something for Halloween and the holidays, but couldn't make the deadlines.

Thanks, I feel that letting a story take a life of its own as you write is just as impressive. I suppose it boils down to writers having their own style that works for them.

I'm not going to obsessively graph the number of entries as I did with the 'winter' comp, but for interest, this is the total number of entries going back to 2007 (before then, things were a little funkier with multiple chapters etc). Last year was a bumper year. Good luck to all for some lovely engagement, fun reading and good feels!

I'm finishing up my VDay story, but as I'm sliding toward the finish I'm realizing it's not a VDay story at all. It's a Crime And Punishment story. So I think that's how I'll be presenting it.

Wow, I swore I wasn't going to do a valentines day story, my WIP pile is teetering and threatening to collapse... and there's money on the line there too! But this one just grabbed me. This is something I wanted to write for a long time, something near and "dear" to my heart - February in North Dakota.

Just flashed past 21k words and all the sex that I have in there so far is a hand job from a lesbian. It's getting there though...
