There is a disturbance in The Force. It seems there is a hitch in the "Instant" Background Check today. Mr. FFL and Wat sat about for 60 minutes doing the equivalent of listening to the Final Jeopardy tune and never got any answer from the Gummint Entity. Meh. It's in process, kinda like that window that won't load on the computer.


Maybe they got a new hamster-powered server like Manu(re) has . . . .

Made brunch when I got home, and while eating, I got a call from Mr. FFL saying that all was well, that the background check had passed, and that all was right in Allah's world. Went and picked up the shotgun and then headed to the gun store to get a few boxes of shells for it. This place is huge, and browsing was in order. So browsed became the MO.


On the used rifles rack were several deals. There was a Weatherby in .300 Weatherby magnum for under a grand. I think it had a scope, too. Wat has been perusing Mark 4 Number 1s online, and then one on the shelf waved its little hand. It had been sporterized, but gently. New composite stock - didn't like it and didn't hate it. It's black, like the rifle. Okay. Newer berrel, still in British. Okay. Came with 1 mag. Okay. Price was 60% of what the online originals are before a cleaning patch is Hoppe'sed. Fuckin' A!!! So Background Check #2. So now I have to order some .303 . . . .


Good thing that I have no desire for an Arisaka . . . but they did have a nice 1909 Argentine Mauser for decently priced.
