What are your favorite TV shows?

Keith Colburn (captain of the Wizard on Deadliest Catch) is my dad's next-door neighbor. I haven't seen him for years, but I knew him and his wife when I was younger, and it was weird to turn on the TV and say, "Hey, I know that guy!"

Sig bears an amazing resemblence to my husband's boss, right down to his laugh!

Now that's pretty cool. I am an absolute addict for that show. I had a couple guys who used to work for me who did that back in the 90's. I was actually slated to go up for a King Crab season in 93 when I got injured in a karate tournament and couldn't go. Kinda glad I got hurt now!

Other than Deadliest Catch, I guess my favorite shows are Top Chef, MASH and anything on the Food Network. I tend to watch cooking shows like they were porn!

^^Cate, I can watch marathons of those real crime shows on Court TV (I just cannot call it Tru-tv, stupid, stupid name!). The only ones I cannot watch are those that deal with Charles Manson (not so much his followers/"family" members) but him. I feel like the devil is right there to come through the tv at me.

I can also watch several hours in a row of Intervention, another show you brought to my radar.
Hello my twin:rose:

The Manson thing will be on MSNBC this week just so you know.

Did you see Intervention tonight? I was so angry at the family members. There was such conditional love there was nothing she could do but live a lie in her head. I wanted to smack someone.

I forgot to say how much I enjoy 'Deadliest Catch'. I don't understand why crab isn't a ga-billion dollars a pound. That is a hell of a job. I know the cash is good but...

Hi Kahuna, nice to see you, it's been a while.:rose:

ETA: Also forgot to say Top Chef is a fave and a very guilty pleasure is The Real Housewives shows.

I need to improve my memory.

Any other fans of The Alaska Experiment on Discovery Channel after Deadliest Catch?

It's definitely one of my new favorites!

Haven't seen that one, although I did catch a commercial for a show on the History Channel called Tougher in Alaska. It sounds really interesting.

And while I'm here, I'm just going to gripe about CSI:LV. Damn, damn, DAMN - they can't kill off Warrick!

Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance premiered today. I am a happy girl.

^^Me too. My soul is awakened when I watch these kids dance.

Bump!

I've fallen in love with Time Warp on Discovery Channel. I am such a geek! :D

I just started watching Six Feet Under about a month ago and have now completed all five seasons. It was an HBO show about a family and their funeral home, and it was some of the most compelling stuff I've ever seen on television, ever.

The characters were so interesting and it was written by Alan Ball (the guy that did American Beauty) and it was written very well. I have never felt anything so real and gritty from a TV show before.

I'd certainly check it out if you haven't already.

I'm currently working my way through Star Trek: The next generation (the one with captain Picard etc.). Finished Voyager, and after this I'm gonna buy either Deep space 9 or the entire Xena collection, not sure yet.

I love to laugh, so "whose line is it anyway?" tops my list. Also "Just for laughs gags", "the family guy" and "america's funniest home videos".

I also love "deadliest catch", "mythbusters", "dirty jobs", "rescue mediums", "time team" and "NCIS".

I've missed watching 24. I can't wait for the new season that starts in November.

Hey, stranger...nice to see you again! :rose:

We're currently watching Season 2 of Big Love. Really, really great show!

I'm also pretty impressed by Mad Men, the AMC series on the advertising world and life in the 1960's. I usually don't get into period shows, but I'm finding this one to be really thoughtful and well done. When Season 2 is over, I'll have to find and catch up on the first season.

Eilan and Bailadora, what's Time Warp about?

Erika - Time Warp is a series where the host and his crew use high speed photography to capture everyday events (and some not so everyday). They then slow down the footage and explain the science behind it. Ever wonder how a dog uses it's tongue to drink water? The footage actually showed that it works as a sort of reverse ladle - instead of scooping forward, it's tongue scoops backward!

The latest episodes I caught showed what really happens when a bubble pops, how fire breathers achieve their art and the one that really caught my attention - what happens when water is thrown on a grease fire. Note to self: make sure the turkey is bone dry before frying that sucker!

Anyway - it's really, really cool. Click here for more info.

I just started Big Love earlier today.

I'm only two episodes into the first season, but I can already tell I am going to like it a lot. I've recently found that HBO and Showtime TV shows are really the only way to go. Everything else is just too... stale.

It does look good! I have two episodes set to record early Thursday morning, and will check it out then since Discovery wasn't kind enough to make the full episodes online Linux-compatible.

The L Word is another one of my favorites, for sure, although I'm a couple of seasons behind on that one now.

With both Big Love and The L Word I think some of the appeal for me is a connection with parts of my life that are very rarely portrayed well in the media. With Big Love, it's nice to see a contrast to the fundamental polygamist cults that are most often reported on, the complexity and ups and downs of poly relationships. The L Word is more fantastic, but I still relate as a bi woman and appreciate both the depth of the characters and the fluff of a bunch of hot women. :D

Dexter is definitely my favorite show this fall; I used to watch Heroes but the time travel storyline got on my nerve, not to mention (spoiler ahead) Suresh becoming a cross between the Incredible Hulk and Spiderman.

I have to say Mad Men is my favorite show right now, so sad the season is over. I also used to be a fan of Heroes but after the stupidity of this week's episode I may be giving up.

I'm also a fan of Dexter but I've only seen the first two seasons... the first season was much better IMO. I also liked Deadwood and Rome.

There are so many other things I'm not thinking of... hmmm
