proof positive that some things are better left unsaid. i really must learn to keep my yap shut.

of course, upon closer examination, i think this could be sage advice for others as well... particularly around exposed genetalia.

at this point, i think we should do all we can to foster and encourage talents outside the realm of castration. :D

Wow, I missed a lot in the last 2 days.

I think the rapport that an individual has with the others here may determine how they feel they fit in. I've been here for 7 months. There are some people that I know I would not respond to their post the same way as if the post were made by another person because I haven't developed a certain rapport with them. Some people it's easier to do with than others. We're all different.

Remember the "Holding My Tongue" thread? (or shall I spell it tonge just for fun?) Sometimes I might not reply to a post because I don't know the context in which the person making the post will interpret what I have to say. So it's easier to move on rather than defend yourself on someone's interpretation of what you wrote. If I feel strongly enough about something, then I will post. With most of the regulars here you can say what's on your mind, and if they disagree with you it generates a discussion rather than a battle.

People that come in shooting from the hip usually get shot back. People that come in with a ridiculous question usually will get ridiculous answers.

And often regulars will ask questions of n00bs that start threads to get a little more background info.

BTW, I lurk and occasional post in the PG, AH, and GB. In each area there's a "playing field" that has been established, but I have found that as long as I don't go in being an asshole, pointing fingers at people (although that sometimes works well on the GB, depending on the thread) or being too boisterous, the people at those forums will respond to your posts if they have something to say. Of course, I didn't bother going to any of those places until I had a sizeable post count because I felt I'd get reamed. I didn't feel that way posting here; my first post was in one of quoll's threads where there were many regular posters, but I read all 18 pages of the thread before I made my first post.

Could it be that people that participate as a regular in another forum at Lit find it difficult to come to the HT because the envirionment is different?

I just think its easier on the playground threads...here I find anyway that people are more clicky..I have made posts where no one answers..but I am thick skinned and post anyway  but I can see how others might feel slighted..I really just post where I want I tend to like silly threads and goof around but I enjoy reading the advice threads here as well...

Well, I've only been here as a member for about a month or so...but yes, I admit I've lurked here many times before. I actually don't go to other forums. I go straight here. The people here are just great. They made me feel so welcome and many of you here have just been so supportive. I really like participating in some of the threads. And some posts just crack me up. Really relieves the stress. So thanks. :rose:

Hi onlyerics - I agree with you - I come right here to the HT Cafe and HT - it does help with the stress.

I am, what you can call a regular lurker. Many a times I found myself clicking the reply button but only to 'x' the whole thing. HT can be a scary place sometimes. As English is not my main language I'm always hesitant ... what if my grammar is all wrong? what if people can't understand what I'm trying to say? By the time I muster enough courage to post something or to reply to a question I find that someone has already written what I've wanted to say. So I told myself no point in replying.

FYI, it took me many days to write this post

Truthfully I would not have guessed that English isn't your first language. *and I'm one of those people that is picky about language*

krazeeket: IMX, non-native english speakers generally possess a vastly superior understanding of grammar and the mechanics of writing in english than native english speakers, so please, don't let that stop you!

on another forum i frequent, a good friend of mine is swedish and so for him, english is a second language. or perhaps third--i seem to recall his being trilingual. don't worry about it, post away!

look, what's the worst that can happen? somebody asks you to re-phrase something you wrote? that's hardly the end of the world. if you've spent much time on discussion forums, you know that happens between native speakers of a language all the time. :>

The only time anyone's language bothers me is when they type in run on sentences with no punctuation or speak in chat speak if they dont use capital letters or apostrophes then it makes it really hard to read as you can see it seems like those people just wnat to spit out the words without really caring whether it makes sense to anyone i think they just write as they would speak and dont care if its hard for anyone to figure out what they're saying and they are usually the ones who argue when you give advice they dont wnat to hear...

I am as careful as anyone about the written word (well, perhaps not quite so much so as GG but she's a trained professional so I'm not embarrassed that she's out of my league). When it's clear to me that English is not a poster's native language then I am more than willing to put in extra effort to decipher and understand a post. However, when I see a post such as Norajane both described and emulated above, I have to wonder just how much the poster thought about the post before making it.

Put simply, my positionis this: if you don't care enough about your thoughts to organize them before putting them in front of me, then I am simply not going to put in the extra work to decipher, organize, and interpret your post before I can reply to it. I move on to the next reasonably clear post as soon as I see thought-vomit like the above parody.

My friend, you have fantastic language skills. :rose:

I hadn't looked back at this thread since my only post very early in the thread. I got talking with BG about it on the phone and came back to read it last night. I have some random thoughts:

* Cliques happen. We become familar with each other. In some ways cliques show that we are welcoming and have formed bonds. Something I like.

* There are circles of friends all over Lit (and in our lives). There is a ripple effect many times. I might be good friends with BG, for example, and she might be good friends with... X and from that I become a bit more familar with X too. Remember learning about sets and sub-sets in elementary school? We each have a place in the biggest set of all -- being here and being human.

* I know there can be trepidation and the feeling of intimidation to join in. I felt it when I started at the HT. I was lucky that there were familar faces so I joined in on their coat tails. Also I am not too shy -- awaiting the collective gasp to subside -- but that doesn't mean I don't feel some jitters or out of my league at times. But again, I refer to being human... I know I keep saying it but it's the most common denominator we have and for me the most comforting.

* If you see a post that hits you, quote and post and/or send a PM if you want. I know there are many that are shy about it and there are times I just keep the feeling of connection to myself, but by expressing it to the Litster you're opening a possible conversation, I've received a few and it feels good to be heard, to be understood. I usually learn a lot too. So, send the PM, why not? Worst that happens is you complimented someone?

* Also, I think it is important to welcome people. Acknowledge their presence here, it's easy and if a few people do it then others join in and soon enough people feel more at ease.

* Litland isn't always easy to figure out. There are different methods, styles and people on all of the boards as well within boards. Feel free to ask questions, there are more then a few helpful and friendly people. Also, PM the moderator for the board if you have a question (the GB doesn't have one), they are very knowledgable.

Also, when I read the thread I noticed BG's post about ''How to tell..." apparently I'm a :rose: giver. I like that! So here's a rose to everyone... :rose:

Even though some really deserve a :p or even a  and at this point Eilan and EJ get  for the av... mostly it's  cool and :) happy for everyone.

krazeekat, I, like wicked woman, wouldn't have guessed that English isn't your first language. :rose:

ahhh ty sassy ..i am glad to make you smile

I used to be a regular here

I enjoy helping people.
I enjoyed reading what the people here had to say.
It was more serious, loving, and thoughtful than the posts in other boards.
Everyone was welcomed here, unlike some other cliqish boards.
I learned a lot here, about things and people and sex, and the "G" spot. :)

Then, we got a new moderator and the rules were changed.
Most of the old people left and a new clique of people arrived.
A lot of them are cool people, even they don't know or care that I think that of them.
I am NOT saying anything negative about the mod. just stating the facts, ma'am. I have nothing against her or anyone else here.

It does seem to have become more cliquish with the new group, who are a tighter-knit group than the old group.
So, get to know them. Make them happy, say what they want to hear and you should get along fine here.
Give good advice, ask good questions, ask how to get an AV, attach pics, which dildo is best, how long is my penis, do you like long or short, shave or cream, dry or wet, oral or anal, etc. We can never see those too much.

Yeah, I miss bobmi357, sheath, gfarvb, the fire engine guy, and many others that we have all forgotten. Of well, time moves on.

"Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end..."

I agree, I smile when i think of the "good old days" (which were all of, what, a year ago, after all?), but I've moved on as have the ones who left.

You should get to know the new group, MagicFingers. I  them all.

Good advice, because it is, after all, all about me. :)

Yes, bobsgirl

You're one of those I like, even though you probably don't know me.

And, Eilan, yes, it's all about YOU! :)
Now, show us your tits, please? :D

I like you too, really, you sexy little thang.
I would like to have gotten to know the new group, but I really haven't had time.
Besides, most of my insightful posts get ignored, so why bother posting?

Wow. I've been at Lit over a year and no one has asked to see my tits. Sure, they've hinted and stuff, but. . .

*sniff* I love you all!

You can see them in my av. Kinda. Sorta. Or would you prefer last week's saggy, though less appealing, av? :D
