What feeds your soul?

Forgiveness and hope.

Hearing, "I love you."

Having someone who takes care of me without complaint when I simply can't do for myself, even though I despise being in that position.

A call from my love, just to hear how I'm doing.

The tolerance of this community, I'm fairly sure we all saw it from day one, but the benefit of the doubt was given until proved otherwise. Give em enough rope...

WFMS. . .

Since I've already been on the other thread being all pissed and stuff, I thought I should come over here to say something nice.

If you saw my most recent post in the WPMO thread, you read about the car accident that my family and I were in this evening. The damage to the car will probably be $2000-$3000 (maybe even more because there's damage to the suspension), but all of us are fine. That's what I'm truly grateful for (even if I am pissed).

Anyhow, one of my husband's former coworkers just happened to be right behind us, so she witnessed the accident. Not only did she stick around to make sure we were okay, but she took the kids, the puppies, and me home, even though she was just getting off work and she had an hour's commute ahead of her.

my trip to parque nacional de lauca in chile... it was sooo beautiful. i might have to show you some pictures once i have them developed...

A great note for all to read it will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

What feeds my soul tonight is the fact that one of my stories was posted today to an online magazine. It's my first publication ever and this old dog is seriously happy.

I write under the pseudonym of Lionel Jay, so don't be surprised by the name of the author if you choose to follow the link to the story.

Thank you all for the kind words. This story was possible only because of my experiences as a Lit member so it's quite special to know that some Litsters whom I like and admire enjoyed the story.

:rose: to you all.

Today, we enrolled a new student in school. He and his family were displaced once from New Orleans to Texas and once again displaced. Some generous person has given them a house to live in here however, the family has NOTHING....I mean pretty much the clothes on their backs.

Our school (especially the staff) are getting together money, bedding, clothing, appliances, and furniture and donating to this family. Today, one of our campus liasons came into my class as they were collecting money to get a Target gift card for the family. I gave the little amount of cash I had in my wallet towards the cause.

I hope that this family can adjust well and begin a new life here. I personally can not even fathom being uprooted not once, but twice within a month and loosing every single thing I own.......*keeping my fingers crossed*

I witness a totally random act of kindness by students in my class. It was an amazing thing to behold. Even high school age kids can be kind! :rose:

I love threads like this. Doing or seeing senseless acts of love and kindness. Soul touching (tantra) with my lover whether in person or from afar. Looking in on my sleeping children, and getting "love" notes to mommy, kisses, and cuddles and knowing that the years fly by so fast. When Mistress calls me just to say she loves and misses me, then tells me to do something very naughty

Serving Mistress and feeling that connection. Turns me to jello.

Since January, this community has fed my soul. In the time since I stopped lurking and started posting (with a vengeance), I've met some class-act folks. Not bad for a "porn board."

Take care, everyone.
