What I Wrote and Why: the support thread

Just got my submission in. We'll see if anyone cares once it goes live, but this was too interesting not to try at least once. :)
I approached this one as a relatively low-stakes affair. The stories I wrote about are some of my best performers. I'm not sure I expect the same from what is essentially a behind the scenes essay, but it'll be a nice little niche extra for people who are into that sort of thing.

Don't expect many views. I published a WIWAW in March, and it's on 826 views, with 7 votes (there was one more, but it got swept).

As a closeted erotica writer masquerading as a productive member of society, I find this entire event to be horrifyingly irresponsible, intimately and personally exhibitionistic, and quite possibly irresistible.
I meant to reply to this at the time. One of my submissions "My Literotica Journey: How I came here as a reader and then stayed to be a writer." probably is all of the above, well I don't know about irresistable.
I started writing it having found this forum before I noticed the challenge and would have posted it eventually. Hopefully it will inspire others to write.

I'm excited about this. I'm always wanting to talk about Elunara and her insanity. Hello, I usually post under galaxygoddess, but for this challenge I'm posting under the account I post "For the Whored" on. As soon as I saw this come up on twitter, I wrote 3 pages on this. I do have one question, after I submit this as a story, do I need to come to AH and post a thread about it? I was just curious.

Anyway, any excuse to talk about FTW is a good one for me!

Yeah, I was surprised at how quickly mine was queued up too. The fact these are probably shorter than the average story goes a long way, I imagine. :)
That, and there's very little non-consent involved. Even though we often say "My characters made me write it!"

I also imagine there's very little to check on the AI front. I mean, you can't say, "Prompt: write an essay about the thought processes behind my story."

A question for anyone who has submitted multiple stories for the WIWAW Challenge: are the publication dates staggered? My control issues want mine to be staggered in a certain order. Probably completely unnecessary, but nonetheless...

I have submitted three and all are (In my PENDING tab) as [ NEW ] 07/16/2024. My only suggestion would be to add a note to the Admin after the WIWAW 2024 Please can this be published on 07/18/2024? (for example)
Clearly they can do this and the worst (actually not the worst) that can happen is that they ignore it and it still goes live on the 16th.
The very worst would be to hold on past the 16th, submit and then have it Sent Back!

my WIWAW is almost complete. I warn everyone that it is full of nonsense and unnecessary repetition. But I hope it can be somewhat useful, if only as an example to avoid!

Spur of the moment, I wrote one up and submitted it. 1700 words, a record low for me.

Be interesting to see if the story it talks about gets any new traffic. Being its ten years old, it should be easy to see

I just submitted a general statement about what led me to write erotica and my interests in doing so. That counts for this, right? A little over 900 words, mostly a repeat of things I have said on these boards about what I’ve written and why. Other authors are again encouraged to do the same. Apologies for earlier statements that I would not participate in this, blame my cycles of anxiety and depression. Hopefully these will be minimized and I can get back to writing soon. Later, y’all.

I did the same thing! I will be interested in reading general WIWAW stories like these! You know, more of a "what makes people tick" kind of thing.

Having (luckily) never suffered from anxiety/depression, I have no idea what it's like, but in recent years, I've seen it up close and it can be devastating. And it is NOT something that anyone can just ignore and it will go away. I wish you the best and hope that you have people helping you with this. 🙂

I feel like I'm a bit late to the party with my very own event, but I just submitted my WIWAW on nameless narrators.

Mine is going to trace the development of one of my favorite erotica writing elements in my episodic work: Chekov's Babe.

Two more days, people!

And I'd just like to say here how wonderful it is to see so much enthusiasm for the event. Even people who initially wondered whether they had anything to say that people would want to read about are submitting. I think that's great, and hopefully the readers will appreciate some of the insights.

I was VERY hesitant about this whole concept. I mean, I just write some sexy stories. There's nothing going on behind the curtain. Or the possibility of pulling the curtain aside to reveal a fraud (edit: a fraud author -- meaning that my stories are just simple stories with no deep meaning to analyze). But the more I thought about it, the more interesting it became. I don't participate much in the social aspect of Literotica, but this seems to be a way for me to be a little more engaging... And I'm interested in seeing what others have written. Thank you for a very interesting challenge!!!

In my case, everyone should already know I’m a fraud behind the curtain. I say my stories are fictional every time I put one out. But I understand why you might want readers to think otherwise. I’ll just say this- as long as you enjoy the actual sex in your life on the same level your characters appreciate theirs, you’re fine. That is the case for me.
