Food was yummy and the service so poor it was hilarious. One young guy who obviously had no training whatsoever and one a bit older who was just so incompetent it turned into comedy.

I think regular staff may be on vacation and restaurants have a hard time finding people to hire these days - not always undeserved but still.
 
I ran into the guy I’ve been running into at least a few times a year at the National Museum yesterday. It was so interesting to talk with him about the exhibit that I suggested we grab a drink too, and we did. Now I know his name (officially, as in he told me, but I accidentally learned his name from the newspaper a while back already) and he knows mine.

Only took like 4-5 years of running into each other in various cultural things and bars and once in the middle of a forest and cooking mussels at his friend’s place in the middle of the night to get us to exchange our names. We originally met in a sex chat and after about 20 mins of trying to decipher what somebody’s kanji/hanzi tattoo means, as one usually does in a sex chat, we decided to have a beer together. After that we’ve just been running into each other regularly.

Yesterday the range of topics covered everything from the taxonomy of sustainable finance and sovereign military order of Malta to microbreweries and stamps. I always feel like I should record our conversations because I’m learning so much. 😂

And! I had my first class of the sign language course yesterday. It was so good, much better than I expected! It was a small group and it’s going to be a pretty intensive class (5h per week), so I’m hoping I’ll learn a lot.

I was texting with a friend asking if she wanted to join us in a pub brawl Labor Day weekend. Of course J said if we were doing a pub brawl,he was all in!

I will never be able to do a pub crawl ever again. smh

I had my sign language class again yesterday and signed that I had booze for breakfast when I was supposed to sign coffee. Oops. I remembered the mistake when I had coffee this morning and it made me chuckle out loud.

Smile 2:

I’m getting a pedicure right now. A friend had a booking but had to cancel at last minute. The place said it was ok for me to take her spot instead. Ahh, soon I’ll get to experience the lovely paraffin thing again.

Is full body paraffin dipping a thing?
 
My Canadian friend and I switched nationalities today. I had to go around being all nice, while she could scowl at people and give them the finger. I had to teach her how to scowl. Canadians 🤦🏻

Anyway.
Me: Being Canadian is exhausting. You’re not allowing to punch people huh?

Her: Absolutely not, if you are mad you have to make them a tray of naniamo bars and offer to drive them to the airport.

Just remember, a try of Nanaimo Bars and a lift to the airport here is the approximate equivalent of being roughed up by Homeland Security and ICE and being dumped on a cargo plane for wherever they assume you are from down there. Pretty harsh.
