What made you smile or laugh today? Part IV

We are finally empty nesters. We took my daughter off to college and got her moved in. As a father, you are worried about her, but have to trust you have raised her right to make sound decisions.

She is just far enough away that she won't be popping home whenever she wants, but close enough that we can get to her in short order if something comes up.

While the house will seem empty, I look forward to this new phase of my life, hoping it will help my wife and I reconnect and get back to some semblance of a physical relationship that we once enjoyed and take time to get to know each other all over again.

Right before heading to Ireland at the beginning of my summer vacation, I found some turmeric roots in the fridge that I had completely forgotten were there. On a whim I planted them in a pot not knowing if anything could come out of it or what the plant might even look like if it did start to grow. Then later I googled and found out that turmeric looks pretty nice, so I got excited.

Now it’s finally starting to sprout! I can’t wait to see it grow, whee! 🤩

The Wall between Mexico&USA got me. I wasn't expecting it. lol
But the whole thing is hilarious. Especially the ref. to S8E3. I just can't! 🤣

Kid splitting firewood at our farm, listening to The Hives at very high volume when I got there tonight after my day job. Good to hear 20 year olds listening to great punk rock.

Getting more and more sure that I made the right decision in changing jobs, as scary as it was at the time.
This is great! ☺️ Change can be so difficult, especially if you’re not actively unhappy in the old place.

I feel the same way now. I was actually asked to return to the old place during my summer vacation and it was surprisingly easy to say thanks but no thanks, even though I still miss the people I worked with greatly. Try as I might, I can’t make much headway socially in the new place. It’s been six months now, most people still freeze me out.

Luckily I can still hang out with the people from the old place.

It’s good to have that open possibility to help you make an active choice to stay.
