What song is in your head?

Sometimes I am very susceptible to words I am reading to trigger a song.

For instance, I see the thread "How do I know if he is still cheating?" in "How To..." but all I see in the "last post" column is "How do I know if he" which I finish in my head with

Whitney Houston - How do I know, if he really loves me?"

Or I go into the BDSM cafe, and see the thread "What song is in your head" and all I hear is "in your head" from

Cranberries - "Zombie"

Stand Tall
By Burton Cummings

Never been this blue
Never knew the meaning of a heartache
But then again, I never lost at love before
Somewhere down the road
Maybe all those years will find some meaning
I just can't think about them now
Or live them out anymore

Never lasted so long, no
Through so much or through so many
I just can't believe I could throw it all away

Sometimes late at night
When there's nothing here except my old piano
I'd almost give my hands to make you see my way

Stand tall, don't you fall
For God's sake don't go and do something foolish
All you're feeling right now is silly human pride
Oooooh, Stand tall, don't you fall
Don't you do something you might regret later
You're feelin' it like everyone, it's silly human pride

Never lasted so long, no
Through so much or through so many
I just can't believe I could throw it all away

Sometimes late at night
When there's nothing here except my old piano
I'd almost give my hands to make you see my way

Stand tall, don't you fall
For God's sake don't go and do something foolish
All you're feeling right now is silly human pride
You've got me down on my knees for ya mama
Stand tall, don't you fall
Don't you do something you might regret later
You're feelin' it like everyone
It's silly human pride

"Going through the motions"
By Joss Whedon
Performed by Sarah Michelle Gellar
(From the soundtrack "Once more, with feeling!")

Every single night
The same arrangement
I go out and fight the fight

Still I always feel
This strange estrangement;
Nothing here is real
Nothing here is right

I've been making shows of trading blows
Just hoping no one knows
That Ive been going through the motions
Walking through the part
Nothing seems to penetrate my, heart

I was always brave
And kind of righteous
Now I find I'm wavering

Crawl out of your grave
You find this fight just
Doesn't mean a thing
(Vampire: ) She ain't got that swing
(Buffy: ) ...Thanks for noticing

(Demon and vamps: )
She does pretty well with fiends from hell
But lately we can tell
That she's just
Going through the motions (going through the motions)
Faking it somehow
(Demon solo: ) She's not even half the girl she ...oow!

(Buffy: ) Will I stay this way forever
Sleepwalk through my life's endeavor
(Handsome young victim man: ) How can I repay-
(Buffy: ) -Whatever
I don't want to be...

Going through the motions
Losing all me drive
I cant even see, if this is really me
And I just want to be,
Alive!

The Unguided - Phoenix Down.
Used to play it in Tera Battlegrounds.
Now it comes to my head whenever I want to kill someone.

Just thought I'd mention this really made me notice the lyrics. I thought I knew them before, but then...

It's good, and not because of the original, but suddenly I'm thinking "...were those really the words?"

The lyrics are good to hear again over different stages of life. there seem to be nuances I pick up when I go back and listen to stuff I listened to with far more naive ears. I also love covers for this reason... its amazing how you can take the same base ingredients and create something kind of new that is ALSO great in its own way. Neat~o human creation stuff. :)

Are you gonna take me home tonight
Ah down beside that red firelight
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rockin’ world go round

Some commercials tend to remind me of songs that used to be played but don't get airplay anymore.

To that end, I tend to remember these commercials even though I haven't a clue what the commercial is even about!

I usually find them again by doing a search for "Back in the New York Groove" + commercial and "Devo" (Watch us work it) + Commercial to find the appropriate songs.

(Contrary to logic, the AT&T commercial that used "back in the NY groove" doesn't have their commercial on youtube, so understand that before you open that link.)

"Touch, Peel and Stand"
Days of the New

Since I know how low to go
I wont let it show
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go

And now I stand
and I 'peel for more.
Won't you touch me, touch me
I won't let it go

Yes I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are; the one to abuse

Yes I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are; the one to abuse

One to abuse

You're always talking back to me
You won't let it be
won't you touch me touch me
It never bothered you before

Now I stand
and I 'peel for more
wont you touch me touch me
I wont let it go

Yes I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are; the one to abuse

Yes I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are; the one to abuse

One to abuse

Oh!
Yeah Yeah
yeah....

(instrumental)

Yes, I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
You are, the one to abuse

Yes, I've finally found a reason
I don't need an excuse
I've got this time on my hands
...Now

I've got this time on my hands
I've got this time on my hands
I've got this...

You are; the one to abuse

I've got this time on my hands (I've got this)
I've got this time on my hands (I've got this)
I've got this...

You are; the one to abuse
One to abuse
One to abuse

Oh
Yeeahh Yeah

yeah....
