What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

Sunday was the first day of fall, and right on time the weather turned cool-ish. We celebrated with ham and beans with cornbread. Yum.
I find it interesting how often ham is mentioned in this thread, because in my world ham only ever gets eaten in Christmas (by people other than me, because I don’t eat it even in Christmas). I don’t even know if ham is sold here any other time of the year than around Christmas. Maybe not, except thinly sliced for sandwiches?

Is the ham mentioned here the big chunk of meat or something else? 😅

Like you, we don't consume ham as a main course of our meals. Somebody does, however; there is a staggering assortment of hams, as well as other pork products available in our grocery stores. I usually cook beans with scraps of ham that are left after a whole ham is boned and trimmed.

Interesting. Pork is sold here, just no hams, as far as I know. I almost never cook pork and rarely eat it, so maybe I just haven’t noticed the hams, but I really think beyond Christmas time the pretty much the only ham you can find is the sandwich kind.

My lunch was store bought chanterelle ravioli and home made mushroom sauce to go with them. Dinner was popcorn. 😂 Film festival in town.

J made a really good pasta bake with leftover veggies and meat that were about to go bad. Cavolo nero, cherry tomatoes, chanterelles, beef mince, three kinds of cheese and elbow macaroni.

So many of my favorite things in a casserole! No complaints. I’m glad there’s enough to cover lunches the rest of the week for both of us.

Mushroom tikka masala with sheep polypore mushrooms.

I’m trying to think of a dessert I could make with the ingredients I have, because lord knows I deserve dessert today.

Turkey meatballs, veggies and noodles in broth.

It ended up being white beans instead of black, after all. I used the aquafaba in the brownie and made them vegan to test how it’ll turn out in case of future vegan baking needs. Of course adding the yoghurt on top made the vegan aspect go poof, but the brownie turned out good.

Tacos filled with leftovers. Perfect!

Salmon, kohlrabi, pear and aioli from yesterday, a few chopped cherry tomatoes and a couple pieces of orange pepper from today’s lunch.

OK... how "not so short" of flight is it?? LOL
That is FABULOUS!
WOW!

Without knowing where you live, I’d say likely about 12-16 hours minimum. I’ll reheat you a portion. 😁
Central US...
Fish tacos are a favorite of mine, but I haven't had any that look as great as the ones you made! Hat-Tip to you...

Saw a new recipe for Orange Chicken I am making today
How did it turn out? Better than the recipe you’ve used before?

Lunch today was soup I made while listening to a meeting. I chucked all the leftover roasted squash, beans and parsnips from the weekend in a pot. Spoonful of peanut butter. Cumin, cinnamon, sumac, coriander powder and chili. Lemon. Blitz-blitz. Pretty good.

I’ll use the leftover soup as a basis for some bread rolls later today.

All I made was breakfast tacos... sausage, egg, onion, cheese and salsa.
I enjoyed them, though your soup sounds MUCH better!

It turned out great. Definitely a keeper. Funny I saw one of my BBQ YouTubers cooking it. Thinking of switching it up and trying apricot next time.

Making fried chicken thighs, rice, candied sweet potatoes, green beans, biscuits, and gravy. Very heavy on the carbs, but I can't go grocery shopping til tomorrow, so I have to use what I have.

What a feast! Is it a special occasion? ☺️

I struggle to find the energy to make as much as an “extra” side salad to go with my meals and you’re pumping out multiple sides. Seriously impressive!

What a wonderful feast! You made several of my favorite dishes!
