Whats everyone doing today?

in about 4 hours i'm going to be eating around 3 buckets o' chinese food.

I have a whole giant list of things I am doing today...or that I need to do today.

I'm in the midst of my leftover buckets of Chinese food from last night. :D

While gnoshing on Chinese food, I'm redoing my signature here and on the forums that I admin for a gaming site. And whipping out a few siggies for some people on the gaming site.

Then, I'm cleaning off my desk so I can actually see the top of it and so that I can actually load it up again because it's time to start creating syllabi and lesson plans and course websites.

Whee!!!

I haven't made up my mind yet. Considering it's almost 3 p.m., I guess I better hurry up and decide.

You, know, EJ, I think it's very cool the way you schedule the time and duration of your naps. :)

Travelling to what is quickly becoming one of my favorite cities: San Francisco.

oh I wish...I wish...it's one of my favourites as well. Enjoy Yank.

Trying to deal with making the very difficult decision of getting rid of/putting down my 12 yr old cocker spaniel.... care for him is getting more and more difficult and time consuming. :(

Thanks. What is it that you like about SF, btw?

Unfortunately I'm about 30 miles from the city on this trip :( but it beats being in the midwest.

:( i'm sorry to hear about this leah. i had to put my dachshund down in january... he was only 4 but had a bad back that finally got the better of him. it's not an easy decision to make but i'm sure you'll do what's right for your pet. for me, it became a matter of whether i was keeping him around for HIM or keeping him around for ME.

i wish you the best in making this decision. if/when you do put him down it's usually beneficial to be there with him through the process. at least it helped me to heal more quickly.

I can only echo EJ's post; it expresses exactly what I would have said. :rose:

Leah,

We put down our Old English Sheepdog several years ago when he was 14 years old. It was one of the toughest things we ever did as a family. At the end, he just had so many problems, he couldn't get up (bad back) and would bark before he would wet himself. It became an issue of quality of life for him. As much as WE wanted him around, it just was not fair to let HIM continue to suffer even if he was not in any obvious pain.

In the end we were very blessed. We found a vet that came to the house to put him to sleep. I took off from work and spent the entire day digging a hole (minimum 4 feet deep) big enough for a large dog. Then the vet came out to the house. He was great! He spoke to the kids and assured them he would be going to a better place. Then my wife and kids said good bye and went inside so they did not have to watch I held the dog on the back porch while the vet gave him the injection. After he passed away, the vet actually helped me load him in the hole and cover him with dirt.

As tough as it was, I could not imagine a better way for him to go...

Good luck to you. :rose:

I'm sorry to hear this Leah. My good thoughts go out to you in such a tough time. I'm the proud new parent of not one but two dogs of my very own (for the first time). Eventually, the time will come with these two and I don't look forward to it, not at all. :( They quickly become part of your family.

Balmy? I know better!

I hope you have another safe and enjoyable trip to the golden state yank. Any sight seeing planned this time?

Scaly, EJ, Denae, DCraz, and PTM -

Thanks so much for all the kind words and support. This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. My youngest son is the one that found him 12 years ago and brought him home "Can we keep him, Mom??" He's been with me ever since - a divorce, a breakup, 2 moves, kids growing older and moving out, all you can pack in to some pretty turbulent years. He's still in good physical shape, but I can tell that he will be declining soon, and as much as it breaks my heart to put him down, it would just kill me inside to see him suffer. So, I'll call the vet today to see how to go about this....

BG, your PM meant more to me than you can know.... Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart. :rose:
