Would you like an offshoot board to the 'How To' forum?

This is one of the most intractable and divisive problems in our time.

That said, I can't think of a good reason to give up on the notion of creating a place that is dedicated to civil and serious discourse. Simply by limiting ourselves to "safe" topics we would be admitting defeat before we even try.

I'm just as sick of partisan hollering matches as anyone. Why must we limit ourselves out of fear?

There's a very good name: civil and serious discourse!

See, I see that as GB material.

If you have an offshoot for relationship/sex discussion, it has to stay that or else there's no point, when there's already discussion forums.

Just because you're not comfortable or think the people are nuts, doesn't require a new board, do you get what I'm saying? IF that was the case, then everyone that didn't like the things that were said on a certain board, or the way things were discussed, would be asking for THEIR own board as well.

see... I agree on this point. The board has to have a purpose other then not clogging the HT, and not having to go on the GB or the PG like spoiled stubborn children. It had to be something completly different that not only the HT can benefit from...

I originally suggested the name Straight Talk because it implied that it was a place for people to talk. While I don't believe in discrimination, I do believe its discriminatory to allow for a Gay/Lesbian section without providing a place for the rest of us.

Frankly if someone places a post in the how to that is more suited to this new subboard (whatever we call it), I'm sure LadyG will move it to the appropriate place. While I'm not saying this section is just for straight people, I'll remind everyone here that there is a clearly marked gay section on this board.

However to keep this from becoming an issue. I'll retract the name Straight talk and say lets just call it the How To Cafe. We are spending time and energy fighting over names and are never going to find one that pleases everyone. And when we do, someone, probably representing the animal screwing portion of the pygmy eskimo population will step up and claim its discriminatory and misleading.

Call it how to cafe and be done with it.

I find it interesting that you formulate the dichotomy of people vs. gays and lesbians.

To correct your misinformation, the GLBT board does not discriminate. Any one may post there, regardless of their sexual orientation or identity, as they may on any forum at Lit, including this one.

Uh considering that straights dominate most of Literotica isn't that last sentence a bit disingenuous? Straights are invited to post on GLBT board not barred from posting there.

Academic discussion now because the name of the board has been chosen. But, I was struck by the last remark and I can only hope this was intended in jest.
