Yank's Free Range Turkey Trot Warming House and Bondage Barn

Like, a roommate who has their own room or ???

I have a 3 foot high silver "disco" tree. It has the same ornaments on it each year because when the season is over, it goes back in to a bag, ornaments and all. No lights. Just sparkly.
Sparkly seems perfectly suited to you. Guessing you and WW are the two most efficient Christmasers I know.

For years I had a 3 ft inflatable tree. Obviously no lights. I loved it, it was so.easy.

J made me give it up after the multiple patches were becoming obvious.

I now put up a pre-lit tree that has multiple choices for the non-LED lighting. I always opt for multicolor as I feel plain white is boring. I change it around from twinkling to slow fade to solid lighting randomly each day except I avoid the migraine/seizure inducing rapid flashing. Lots of vintage decorations are hung on the branches and it's topped with a huge gold, glittery bow.

Inflatable? I wish I could see a picture of that

Unfortunately I don't think I ever got a pic but think cartoon Christmas tree and you get the idea.

How did the punctures happen? Seems like thete could be some good stories there.

Says the guy who brought his father to tears when he brought down a Christmas tree at age 4 by trying to climb it.

Is it bad that I'm too lazy to put up a Christmas tree?

Nope. If you don't feel like it, don't do it.

I find my Xmas spirit changes from year to year and was sorely in the dumps for a number of years after my Mom died. I remember one year wishing Xmas would just go away, but I was hosting Xmas dinner, so on Xmas Eve, at 5 p.m., I finished putting up the silliest 2' Xmas tree on a table...because I needed one for the kids coming the next day and had to leave the house at 5 p.m. for dinner at my Dad's.

It's just a bad time of the year now for a couple of reasons. I am not much of a holiday or seasonal decorator either.

I'm the same, not super decoratey. And I'll always say, do what you feel. Nothing should feel forced when it comes to the holidays.

From my past experience, when I was feeling particularly down and didn't decorate, looking back at that time, I wish I had. Just a little something.

This year, I bought this pretty distressed metallic tree, only a foot high. It has lights inside. I just have to flip a switch and it's on. I put up a sparkly snowman, too. No tree this year. Just too... meh. But I like the tree. Makes it feel nice.

By the way, hope things get better.

Sorry to hear that. Hope things improve.

If there's even a small thing that will feed your soul...maybe a drive to take in the lights or stopping to smell the crisp air...do that and forget the rest. Just do what adds to you, not what subtracts.

the oddest part of the Christmas season are the people who aren't even Christians and still decorate.

just treat yourself nicely

Thank y'all very much. Several things just came together last night for a perfect storm of bad memories and feeling losses of people and pets lost.

I'm sorry this happened. I hate perfect storms. Not especially fond of the imperfect ones, either, come to think about it.

I hope today has been better.

Are any of you guys getting together with friends / family for the holidays?

Yes and no.

I'm spending Xmas with my one son's family. We live in the same city and are in each other's social bubble. But usually I travel to get my brother and bring him back to join us and then on Boxing Day when I take him home, I continue on to visit my other son's family. Due to Covid and some areas being in lock down, that's not happening this year. Happy I get to see some of my family, but sad I can't see all of them. Need to keep everyone healthy though.

Yes, but only after a two-week full quarantine by all followed by negative tests all around. Also, only bringing 2 people to our home.

No family visits this year. We have a couple of friends in our social bubble that we will see. Closest family is 1,500 miles and just too far to travel right now.

The last couple of days have been better. Thank you so much.

I'll pretty much just see the ones I already see. I'm so ready to see friends and family that I don't get to see often but I'm going to be patient.

The oddest part of the Christmas season, to me, is that pagan fertility decorations and mass consumerism somehow represent Christianity. *shrug*
