What's a life lesson that you wish someone had taught you earlier?
Shit happens. Man proposes, fate/god/entropy/'something else' disposes. Make plans & work those plans, but stay alert for warnings & problems - if you can deal with them sooner you've got a better chance getting back to your plan. If the plan fails, that's not the end of it - you can make new plans.

Trust

Do you think once trust is lost it can be won back? What would it take? Have you ever lost someone’s trust and gained it back? Have you ever decided to trust someone again after they lost your trust? Do you trust easily? What kind of things make you lose trust in someone?

(And because this is Lit - I don’t just mean “cheating”. Loss of trust can mean a LOT of things.)
I’m definitely a believer in trust can be earned back. But it is no small thing. It takes 100x more work. Gaining trust takes ages and losing trust takes only an instant.
I used to be naively trusting. As I have gotten older I trust less and less. I’m unsure if I like that quality in myself now.

What's a life lesson that you wish someone had taught you earlier?
That not everything in life has a formula — and that's okay.
I used to believe that if I worked hard enough and made the right choices, everything would fall neatly into place. But real life isn’t always so clear-cut. I wish someone had told me earlier that ambiguity, unpredictability, and even failure aren’t signs that you're off track - just parts of the journey. Learning to embrace the messy, uncertain moments has been as important as achieving any goal.... and, for me, likely even more difficult.

1. Every adult is faking "adultness" and none of them know what they are doing or how they are actually doing it. The ones who succeed are the ones who have faked it so well that they believe their own performance.
2. A lesson I wish I hadn't been taught was to put everyone's need, desires, and feelings above mine. I think being taught balance and healthy give and take would have been a better lesson. (But <insert perpetuating misogyny in the American church blah blah blah>)

Let's Talk Toys!

What was the first adult toy you bought (for yourself or a partner)? Has your collection changed since then? Do you like incorporating toys with partners or do you prefer them during solo time only? Is there a toy you hated or would definitely not recommend? Is there something you'd like to put on a Wishlist? Are there any toys you have questions about how they work?

The first adult toy I bought wasn't an adult toy. It was a thick, smooth leather belt I originally bought to keep my slacks up. Only later, learning about kink and BDSM face-first, did it become a toy - initially as binding for her arms, later as sensation play, ad hoc leash, and eventually a striker/spanker. I still have it, and still use it as a toy. A jingly buckle can be fun to let sound with a blindfolded playmate, for that matter... :)

I don't generally use a toy to masturbate, altho I have tried some over the years. Canalized on imagination and one or two hands as the 'ideal' way to masturbate, adding toys just seems complicated to me.

With a happy sub who's willing, toys are a lot of fun. Different sensations from stingy singletails to thuddy paddles, ticklish soft-thuddy unravelled cotton rope flogger, or tingly-warm crop vary sensation significantly and hence the play experience. Rope (soft cotton for easy laundering, just gotta be careful about knots getting worked too hard) is so multipurpose and safely reusable. Wartenberg wheel, a sharp and a dull knife, blindfold, various clips/clamps/clothespins, etc etc.

I also have a collection of mindfuck toys - stuff for soft sensation and rough mental fucking, like a mid-sized pair of vice grips. Never used them for more than caressing, won't lock 'em on people, but bringing it up as an option with a bound partner before using it in a caressing, cold metal way can get strong reactions. The aforementioned sharp knife is another one, swapping with the dull knife - sharp for disposable clothing, dull for caressing skin - works great with a blindfold. Need to be careful to avoid squirmy reactions, 'course, I'm NOT a fan of blood in play. A large wire whisk for sensation play, light and unusual kinetic play - get great reactions letting it sit in a bowl of ice water, for ex.

Safety gear - first aid cream, bandages, heavy sheers for when you have to let someone out of bondage NOW, primarily - are kept handy, but out of sight, and not for play. They're there to minimize fuckups on my part is all.

Let's Talk Toys!

What was the first adult toy you bought (for yourself or a partner)?
A silicone (I think?) dildo that ended up being much bigger than it looked online. That didn’t end up getting used much.
Has your collection changed since then?
Yes, now I like electronic toys - much more fun!
Do you like incorporating toys with partners or do you prefer them during solo time only?
I never had a vibrator when I had a partner, but would love to get one with a partner.
Is there a toy you hated or would definitely not recommend?
See above - check measurements people! I also bought an expensive (for me) vibrator with a clit suction appendage which just doesn’t do it for me.
Is there something you'd like to put on a Wishlist?
No, I think I’m good with what I have.
Are there any toys you have questions about how they work?
I’m a little curious how well the toys for guys work - they don’t seem to be too popular.

It’s a little strange, isn’t it. There are a handful of guys on here who praise their fleshlights, but not many.
I’ve never had a lot of interest. Maybe it’s that my hand is always able to achieve its objective. Somehow, it doesn’t seem like a silicone object can feel as good as a warm, sensitive hand.

Let's Talk Toys!

What was the first adult toy you bought (for yourself or a partner)?
The first one I ever had was bought for me. My friends got me a vibrator/wand for my 21st. Couple of years later I bought a Rampant Rabbit from the local Ann Summers shop.
Has your collection changed since then?
For a long time my collection went down to zero. But now it's very healthy. I find multipack deals on lovehoney or similar and now I've got loads of all different kinds.
Do you like incorporating toys with partners or do you prefer them during solo time only?
My ex didn't like toys. Said he should be more than enough for me and like a twat I believed him. Never had the opportunity to use one with a partner other than through Skype or something similar and not app controlled as of yet cos I haven't been brave enough.
Is there a toy you hated or would definitely not recommend?
I can't get away with multi purpose toys. Like I love a vibrator and I love a wand but - for example the Nora by Lovense - I find both together doesn't hit either spot. But then two toys together has me fumbling around like an old fashioned lock picker.
Is there something you'd like to put on a Wishlist? Are there any toys you have questions about how they work?
I am fascinated by the tentacle toys but I don't know how they're meant to feel or what they're meant to stimulate. Is it just the novelty of the weird shape or are they actually a game changer?

Let's Talk Toys!

What was the first adult toy you bought (for yourself or a partner)?
It was a butterfly thing that my wife could wear beneath her knickers with a wire and 2xAA battery clunky controller.
Has your collection changed since then?
My wife now has a treasure chest filled with toys and underwear catalogues and porn magazines.
Do you like incorporating toys with partners or do you prefer them during solo time only?
Definitely - it means she can be triple penetrated just by me.
And the remote control toys are amazing when I'm having cyber fun.
Is there a toy you hated or would definitely not recommend?
The little clit sucker doesn't seem to get the desired effect.
Is there something you'd like to put on a Wishlist?
A toy for me.
Are there any toys you have questions about how they work?
I just want someone to invent something for the men.

Sex toys for males exist. It’s just the ones I’ve tried are worse than fingers. Is that education? Social pressure? Actual tech failure? Physiology?

At a guess it’s most if not all those factors, dunno if there’s a specific single leader tho

Once upon a time I had a summer job selling novelty gifts to tourists. There was an adult section and I was supposed to pretend they were just joke toys for stags and hens (because we weren't properly licensed or something) but they all worked perfectly well! And yes one of them was the butterfly

Oh I love mine!
A toy for me.
Well some remote toys sync up with each other so why not get the male companion so you can get your cyber rocks off together!

Twas a silly thing.

The lovely lady who gave me access left me at Christmas - I miss her 😊
But it's more a case of what you does a man enjoy - none of them really appeal to me more than my own hand.

My first official, non-improvised toy was purchased in my 30s because of Lit (thanks anonymous internet!) and was a simple purple wand vibrator. My collection has grown substantially over the years. I have found a few things that I like a lot. I try not carve a groove in my masturbatory habits so I switch it up but I have some secret combos for when I need something earthshattering. 🤫 My partner is very cool with toys and when he uses them, he sees them as an extention of him - which is exactly what it is.

Hated? Anything that breaks in three uses. I had some extremely fidgety nipple clamps thay ended up as a big disappointment. There's probably a lot for the wishlist but mainly for curiosity's sake.

Questions? Hmmm I can probably answer my own if you let me watch it in use. ;) I kid. I kid

Okay, I'll share one story.

The only toy ever bought was a fancy flashlight. It was on sale for about $60 and had lots of bells and whistles. 5 different vibration and suction settings, etc.

So the first bad thing I noticed was this particular model only let you use water based lube. I like to edge myself and can last a long time. So the water based lube dried out and became sticky...and my dick got stuck in the damned thing. My skin adhere to the latex in a gluey mess of the dried lube and my precum.

I had to very carefully use more lube and work it down with my finger and slowly tug to get it out. And it was so tight, I hadn't cum so I was swollen. It was no longer a sexy experience.

The second thing was that it was pretty complicated to keep clean. I cum a lot after edging and when you have to push a plastic stick into a hole to apply pressure to get the puddle out after, it's not easy to make sure it's clean. So I was never sure about the hygiene of it.

Third thing that sucked was there was only one way to charge it, USB to my laptop. Because it didn't come with a charging adapter. When I finally lost that cord, I gratefully tossed the bitch.

Be careful and do your research boys.
