❓ PLP Inquires II ❓

I will third that.. escargot is delicious.
When I lived in Rome, there was a French restaurant very close to my apartment where I use to go there often during the weekend. Escargot, as well as Oysters, were always something I would order.

In the Roman cuisine they do have them but they cook it with a cherry tomatoes. It's okay but I'm not crazy about it. Escargot cooked with butter, parsley and garlic are orgasmic. Slurp! :D

Oh.... Now you have just made me melt and feel needy right from the beginning of the day 🥰

Escargot with butter, parsley and garlic..a bowl of palourde in the same, but boiled in white wine as well... A huge plate of oysters with nothing but slices of lemon..
Wanna go to France with me?

This is one of the reasons why I do love travelling in France!! There is this little island, Ile de Ré.. gosh, it is a little paradise with small cabanas everywhere, all serving generous amounts of these things, just sitting there.. in the sun, under the parasol on a bench, sharing and laughing! It is impossible to feel anything but happy and lucky, lucky to be able to enjoy all that goodness.

It is truly orgasmic food 😍

..... When can I go to France again?🤔😂

No no no. Butter, basil, garlic and finished with a splash of vermouth. It works with clams and baby oysters too...but not mussels in my opinion

Mussels are great with white wine, garlic, lots of parsley and then some butter.
- that is the best kind of fast food there is!!

Oysters... You would... Gasp... Cook them?! I mean.. I have tried grilling them, that is yummy!! Smoked even.. delicious.
Still, I do prefer them raw and fresh from the water.

Basil instead of parsley... I am not against trying it, as I have not tasted it, I cannot know whether or not I like it. 🤔

What is one ingredient that will persuade you to order something on a menu over all the other options?
oh, this is such a difficult question, I love food. There are so many good choices here. I lean towards "more". Sweeter, spicier, saltier, more acidic, just more in all directions. In the end though, it is usually the wait staff not the menu. I ask them to surprise me with what they would order if they were in the mood for whatever I am in the mood for. Something spicy, something seafood etc. Work take out lunch, I just provide whomever is ordering with a random number, so like the 3rd lunch special. Variety is good, and there is never a wrong answer.

I like that approach to work takeout. We used to do something similar when I was in the office. one of the analysts created a chart that had random numbers for local restaurants and then another set of random numbers for the item on the menu. So we pick a random restaurant and then a random something off the menu. It was actually pretty cool because you never knew what you were going to get for lunch and sometimes you hit the jackpot.

If only. 🥰

I haven't been in that area of France. I have been to Paris and Marseille, visited Bourgogne region and le Val de Loire. But my favorite is Normandy, and where I have spent most of my vacations period in France. I love everything about that place, from landscape to rich history, food and people. 😍

Bretagne is on my bucket list but a bit difficult to organise because the best period to visit it (because of the weather) is during spring, May at max. And that's a period which is very difficult for me to take a long vacation, which is needed if you really want to visit the place properly.

Alsace–Lorraine is another region I'm very curious about too.

Butter and basil with clams? Not here.
Only olive oil and parsley. Mussles, idem. Olive oil and parsley and serve with raw lemon, if you want. Oysters raw, with lemon or vinegar sauce they prepare in Normandy which is delicious.

The Italian cuisine fundamental principal is to have good quality ingredients and respect them. Meaning, do not add too much stuff and tamper with them because you will lose their natural flavour. This is true especially when it comes to sea food.

How do you feel about change? Changes around you, other people changing, changing yourself, etc?

Do you resist change? Embrace it? Encourage it in others?

It depends. Some changes I embrace, or actively seek when needed, and some I do not and resist. Change per se is not a synonym of "better" and improvement. On the contrary, it has often been proved a recipe for disaster.

I love change. I fully embrace it. Others? Depends....are they happy? Then no.

Now this doesn't mean I am not afraid of change...but it is inevitable...so might as well accept it. Far easier to go with life's flow than fight it

Generally I'm slow to adapt to change. I need a certain degree of predictability. When change comes too much or too quickly, I get thrown off the rails. I'm fine with incremental change if I understand the reasoning for it. But there has to be a logic to it.

Let's talk Lit forgiveness.

I was discussing this with someone yesterday saying that Lit as a whole doesn't forgive easily. One biggish fuck up and someone will remind you of it for life. Which I think sucks. Then today, I've watched someone behave in way that made me dislike them 2 years ago and 2 years before that someone warned me of this same behavior.

So community, Lit forgiveness, yea or nay? Are you someone who remembers mistakes and remains wary? Or do you forgive and forget bad behavior and hope for growth? Is your Lit approach different than real life? Do you care about the opinions of your community?

I tend to encourage change in and around myself and environment. It isn’t that I don’t see the positive side of stagnation. It is risk free, there are no unknown challenges, but I somehow start to feel stuck, and claustrophobic, like everything is too small, having to cling to the status quo. Sometimes big changes can be scary, and feel uncomfortable, even create anxiety, but that is also exciting, and getting out of a comfort zone brings growth. I also enjoy change in others, watching others open new doors is always wonderful to see.

I'm honestly not even sure Lit as a whole isn't forgiving. I am forgiving though. I don’t hold grudges, I try to see other perspectives, and I question my response often, check myself to see if it is my perspective that is off base. Also, it doesn’t hurt that I genuinely forget. I ended up having to keep a just no lit list. It is the user names of 4 men I want to remember to not talk to. I had to create it because I found that I would forget I don’t like them, then I’d end up talking with them, and wanting to stab them with a rusty spork, yet again. I do not even remember what earned 2 of them their place, but I will trust that I had my reasons, I do not add to it lightly, there was a laundry list reasons why I wanted to spork them.... yet I still forget. As for others opinions on other parties, I don't give them much weight, I will totally listen to the stories, but I prefer to form my own opinions and make my own mistakes. My approach in life is about the same, though I don't have a just no list in life.

I think as a community, the majority of the users of the Lit Forums ignores, forgives, forgets, and/or simply doesn't care. The "warring states" are small and easily identifiable/avoidable. Just ignore them, either with the tools or with your mind. The challenge is some of the people who are in the "warring states" run all through the forums and seek battle wherever they can find it, so it appears far more widespread than it is. Some peoples posts are either flat out transgressive, or constantly passive-aggressive. They have thorns. They want to use them.

On the topic of "warning about behavior" - I'm actually a firm believer in the practice and, on the few times I've run into it, I've sent I think, a total of three "warning" messages, as in the "Just FYI - this screen name does X, so be on your guard". I've never sent them in regards to the pure Lit battles - that's just the way any online forum is - someone always wants to play an asshole - but I have sent them when I knew someone took the transgressions into real life.

On a personal level - I believe in "forgive, but don't forget" and I always hope for growth, which is the same approach I have IRL. I don't really care about what "the community" thinks about me or anyone else for that matter. I form my opinions on people based personal experience and personal observation. Carry Lit lightly. Don't take this place too seriously. Be cautious but open. Think of it like a prison term - never stand close enough to get shanked.

But remember, and make no mistake about it, the Lit forums is like any other social group - it has it's norms, mores, and folkways. If you violate them you will get people who are trying to sanction you. So, if you're going to be a person who violates the norms, mores, or folkways expect it and deal with. Just like your work environment. Your school environment. Your temple environment. There's always going to be an asshole sent as a Dharma Gate (an event in life that helps you decide who YOU are in accordance with the Dharma).

Well, I managed to get both my college education (sociology) and my spiritual path (Dharma) into that one. My work here is done. Back to wrestling with my favorite demon, lust!

Well, shit! Who would have possibly warned you about me FOUR years ago?

Yes.

Are you someone who remembers mistakes and remains wary? Or do you forgive and forget bad behavior and hope for growth?
I forgive but I do not forget. However, I always give a second chance. But actions should do the talking. I have no patience nor the taste for useless Lit bla bla bla.

Is your Lit approach different than real life?
No.

Do you care about the opinions of your community?

I have come to the realisation that, ultimately, I do not give a damn. I do not try to antagonise them on purpose. I do not seek arguing as a sport and I do not like fighting. But I am not willing to toe the line and conform, just for the sake of somebody else's opinions or "feelings". Even if it is my family or friends. As far as strangers are concerned? I couldn't care less.
