Well I had chemo on Monday which went fine. My cold sensitivity is definitely ramping up so my hands are usually pretty sore. I got the little hand warmers to wear under my gloves and we'll see if that helps.
I go home with the chemo bag which I call my little chemo baby. And the first night it didn't dispense any chemo so I had to go back to the hospital the next day. They flushed everything and they were able to draw back. So we basically just came to the conclusion that it was a bad bag. So I had to get a new bag and then that means I have to wear it an extra day.
Mostly right now it is stomach ache and the cold sensitivity. I went to a movie last night and couldn't even drink the soda because it hurt too much. The steroid definitely messes with my blood sugar so I'm trying my best to keep that under control. I haven't really needed any of my nausea medicine which is good.
But round three is done. Well technically it'll be done tomorrow I guess since I still have to wear the bag for another day.

Thank you. Yes. I anticipate a long winter of gloves and hand warmers.
We went to watch The Marvels. It was good.
Thank you. I've finally gotten used to the short hair. It's thinning now. But no chunks or bald spots yet.

So damn cute. Has the weight loss stabilized your blood sugar at all?

Sadly no. To many things working against it. Steroids mostly. All my chemo has glucose. One of the anti-nausea pills also makes my blood sugar go up. The chemo days themselves are the worst for my blood sugar. It takes about 48 hours for the steroid to get out of my system so the first week is usually the most trouble. My off week I can usually get it fairly stable.

This is interesting. My guess is the glucose is used as a stabilizer. Seems to me we could have chemo cocktails that were glucose free for diabetics. Once you are better...you could be the new face of fight for glucose free chemo cocktails. This is long overdue

Yes. It is basically a binder. They try to give me a little as possible, but it still needs some.
But yes. You'd think they'd have other options.

Sometimes...the most obvious needs are overlooked. You know....the forest and the trees conundrum. I do not see this being a difficult fix...it is just been overlooked. One that needs fixed.

Edit: just read 2 papers on this. The drug companies are looking at this as (and this a direct quote) "We understand the problem...but we have bigger fish to fry". I bet...if they had a loved one going through this...they would look at it differently. A cancer patient has enough on their plate. A diabetic cancer patient ...this is kinda fucked

99% of the medical system is the same. They always overlook things that don't apply to them. I don't have a lot of trust in big Pharma.
I wish more doctors cared about cures and fixes. Keeping patients sick earns them all more money. The costs of all my treatments this year has been insane. πŸ˜ͺ

Next chemo tomorrow. Been a very unpredictable couple weeks. I was kind of hoping there would be some kind of pattern to when I didn't feel good and when I did. But it was pretty much day by day. I have two appointments while I am at Chemo tomorrow. One with my diabetic nurse who is still trying to help me get my blood sugar under control while I get the steroids. And then one with my palliative care doctor.
My brother came by today to visit which was very nice. He lives about an hour or so away from me so these days I don't get to see him as often as I used to. But he was kind enough to bring me flowers.
It has been pretty cold this last week but we've seen glimpses of sun which has been nice. I can see snow in the mountains.
Still gorgeous as ever. Thanks for the updates

So, as I saw my first Doctor yesterday- An internalist. Apparently, she was my follow up after coming home from the hospital.
We went over everything I was feeling since release, and she went through to make sure all my referrals were in place.

Because I was intubated while there, my throat has still been really sore and I'm still eating soft food like a little old lady. She gave me Lidocaine.
My first thought :

Wow. Imagine the sizes of dicks I can take on now!!! :ROFLMAO: :nana: Trekka's thread. Here I come!!!

When I think of Lidocaine, I think of piercings. I know, weird, o_O

Chemo again on Monday. I'm doing pretty well still. I've lost hair, but not in chunks or anything noticeable. My cold sensitivity is pretty much always there. I'm wearing gloves 90% of the time.
I have a Lit friend in town for 2 weeks. He's been here a few times now. My family just loves him. He got to experience a traditional American Thanksgiving finally. Then I took him black Friday shopping yesterday. :devilish: Cyber Monday I'll be at Chemo. So. I will get some more shopping done while I sit there for 5 hours or so.
I got a cold, so this last week has been a little blah. Trying to get myself better before Monday. My grandson is in Day care and therefor he is a walking cootie. (or technically a crawling one) and pretty much everyone in the house (or around) has gotten sick except for my husband and now @AWonkyDonkey

Chemo was a little tough this week. It doesn't help that I've been sick and now both the men are sick. We're a lively bunch this week. I get to remove my little chemo baby this afternoon. It's nice getting to walk around without the tubes and fanny pack.

We're going this weekend to pick out our Christmas tree and then to Leavenworth for our yearly Christmas decoration and some Bavarian cheer.

I've felt decently okay this week despite everyone being sick. We went and did all our snow fun this weekend. Christmas tree in the mountains. Then the little Bavarian town of Leavenworth on Sunday. My grandsons first snow. He did well Christmas tree shopping. He was not at all amused on Sunday in Leavenworth. He was still sick too, so crying a lot. We kept our trip short-ish. I got too hot in one of the stores and almost passed out. The family stripped me of all my outerwear, and I literally sat on the floor while someone brought me water and fanned me. I felt the urge to throw up, so my family stood around with hats ready to catch it lol.

@AWonkyDonkey got an email for a flight delay. So, he was supposed to go home today and is now delayed until tomorrow. Hopefully despite being sick this last week, it was still eventful enough. I know he enjoyed the snow and going shooting. I know Thanksgiving was great. I'm glad he got to experience more this trip. My family just loves him. It's so sweet.
When guests come. I always try to let them sit up front in the cars. I had made a comment about letting guests sit up front and my daughter said "He's not a guest though. He's family" I wish I had taken a pic of his face at that moment. It was so sweet.

I'm looking forward to Christmas this year. My grandsons firsts.
