I still have days. A lot of days. Where that hurts or it feels like my innards are coming out. But the fresh incision to now is a tremendous difference.

I know it was a long road, but it’s looking good. You’re one tough cookie.

That was definitely gnarly healing. But in all honesty that was a big part of what I was so nervous about with surgery in general. Being a diabetic means that you're healing is definitely a little more challenging.

But as soon as they tried to remove the Staples and everything just split open I was feeling so incredibly helpless. Trying to clean this open wound every day was really hard on me. So I was really glad when they came across the opportunity to try the wound vacs on me.

Of course the long healing time did manage to delay my chemo a little bit too which also scared me. Another reason that I was so scared of what the outcome from the CT scans would be. I was officially diagnosed in May and didn't even get into surgery until august. Then I started chemo in October. It just felt like such a long road to get there.
