Day 28: A song that uses an unconventional time signature

J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 - Variatio 26 a 2 Clav - Performed by Lang Lang

I'm not going to pretend I can tell what key a song is in let alone the time signature but I figured there should be some classical on this list so I did a little digging and found this one.

This piano piece is in 3/4 time for the one hand and 18/16 for the other, and has the player switch hands.. that seems pretty complicated, I barely managed to get Für Elise figured out as a kid taking piano lessons 😁

Can't say I like listening to this song though, feels chaotic πŸ˜…

Day 29: A song for a nature walk

My wife and I are big hikers and walkers.

There is something about nature and being in the woods that I guess is β€œspiritual” for me.

My wife and I own a 26 acre wooded lot and we have a woodland management plan for it. Altho I have a day job, working on our land, building trails, splitting firewood, taking out invasives and planting new trees is pretty amazing.

When I’m in hw woods, I don’t want to listen to music. It has a music of its own: red tailed hawks, eagles, woodpeckers, blue jays, song birds, peepers, coyote, fox, crickets, cicadas…

And loud frogs… natures song for today.

Day 29: A song for a nature walk

I love to hike, to be out in the woods or along the ocean. It is probably why every time I move away, I end up back in the Pacific Northwest.

I have already posted my favorite song by The Paper Kites previously, and I do my best not to repeat, but almost any song by them, and especially off of Woodland, would fit. Light, sweet music with deep lyrics is a strong vibe for me. This song is quite an emotional punch, and perfect for quiet and contemplation.

"You fall through the trees
And you pray with your knees on the ground
For the things that you need
With your lust and your greed weighing down
And you weaken your love
And you hold it above your head
Success is a song of the heart, not a song of your bed"

"Willow Tree March," The Paper Kites
