I really think it's just about the moderation, or lack thereof. The rules are the same, but I don't think they're enforced other places. Or maybe they're just not reported other places. Who knows.

WoB quoted the rules from the Sticky post at the top of the thread.

But I believe (believe being the operative word...I can't verify because they are gone) the removed posts were hotlinked from other sites and simply displayed in posts as such, not attached to Lit's servers...which means they fall under Option 2 for uploading images.

Which states that as long as the depicted are over 18, the image/gif does not have a listed URL or copyright, and it's not bestial or violent, it's not an issue with regards to the explicit depictions banned in options 1 and 3.

So...I don't understand it either. I know WoB is trying to the right thing, but in this case I think there's a forum-wide misunderstanding of how to apply a rule that's written and posted in a sticky clearly...but isn't applied in exactly the same fashion when we're trying to follow the site rules as posted.

Ultimately, it's her call, but I am confused.

I'm just not going to post any images from here on out because I don't understand the boundaries clearly, and I'm not sure anyone else does either.

The site rules as stated in Bard's post in BSDM and in LadyG's post Sticky'd at the top of this Forum (and quoted by WoB in her justification for removing all of the "offending" imagery, for the record) ARE THE SAME. Full stop.

Bard distilled it down to lay-speak (pardon the pun) but it's literally the same rule that Option 2 on this forum covers.

The inconsistent application of a rule that is explicitly-stated and clearly-defined is something that chaps my ass in any realm of life. I feel the same about Pass Interference in the NFL, for instance.

It's not a judgment call if the rules are black-and-white.

I have now spent far too long irritated at this to be healthy.

One of the things I've noticed, normal dismissive statements don't work here.
For example, if I were to say:

I know it is a tough job. But it comes down to interpretation. And when a justification arrives...there is always a comment about preventing the site from getting shut down. That the govt is watching. But there are threads dedicated to a cock very clearly stretching a pussy, a mouth, an ass, or female masturbation (male is not allowed)...there are very questionable underaged pics...there are gifs where there is no doubt there is active sex occurring...there are threads threatening members...threatening democrats...threatening latinos... threatening muslims...even as far as line them up and shoot them...and all this occurs multiple times on the GB daily and is ok, because I know people complain and nothing is done because "freedom of speech". And those decisions, I am told, are made by laurel herself. So the argument of not wanting the site shut down simply doesnt fly in my small mind. Unless the GB really isnt part of the rest of the site? My issue is not pics were removed...my issue is the justification. Rules are rules...what happens in one forum should be no different than any other forum. And since the GB is moderated by the owner...that is the standard that should be used in the rest of the forums.

I'd really like to do an AudioPhiles on the subject. It's not exactly that I disagree (I do) but there is just a complete disconnect. I want to understand the process, why are we waiting for 'infractions' to be reported instead of being proactive, why certain Litsters are targeted, the impartiality of our mods, etc.

If anyone has any experience or knowledge in this area with other sights, let me know?

My thread was deleted 4 or 5 times which is why I now try to adhere very strictly to the forum rules and hyperlink to the pics that go over the line and attach/display the ones that are within guidelines. I've asked people who post pics that don't conform to either hyperlink them or delete them. It has pissed a few people off (which I don't get) but whatever. I like bantering in my thread and don't want it deleted.

I do think WoB was trying to be proactive as opposed to reactive with her post earlier today. Most of the time, reported threads are just nuked without the notice that she posted. It appears that she was trying to save this thread because so many people do like it.

And I agree that the rules only seem to be applied when a thread is reported. But I also understand that moderating thousands of threads (just in the PG) is very difficult.

I hope you don't move this thread to a different forum - it would be missed here.

If it is because you were reported, it is because you are cool and they aren't. Piles of shit will always be piles of shit no matter how cool they try to be. I find it sad...when I can identify 42 pics in THIS FORUM in under 3 minutes that violate the "rules" and they aren't messed with. They ain't hard to find. Ignore the fluff add a letter/magic word threads and look anywhere else.

Listen Friends it’s pretty simple. PLP has the arrogance to come to Lit and entertain us. She makes threads that make us think, make us more sexually informed, make us laugh and generally make our days better. She is always kind, engaged, welcoming and funny. I fully support Moderators who ignore stupid rules that don’t matter until one friendless fuckbag complains and then threatens her (and our) fun. It makes perfect sense to delete a thread filled with many people who are too stupid to moderate their own Lit experience and who could leave if things get too graphic for them (while still being legal).

We should always cater to one individual over the majority because that makes sense, that’s fair and the right thing to do.

In summary, if we don’t destroy PLP now she may make another thread that brings us joy. So let’s kick PLP out of Lit forever so we can all go back to being petty, whiny, miserable fucks, just like Laurel intended.

Or, I guess we could just change the rules to something like: Illegal images will get deleted and get you deleted, arguing and causing unnecessary drama will get you deleted, otherwise have fun!

Second thought, Nah, let’s just drive all the good people away. That’s how we get to a better world.

I'm glad we have an active mod in the PG. Removing toxic posters has made the place an easier, friendlier, more active and more interesting space. Drama and snark are a big turn off for many, although some clearly enjoy them.

I'm sorry that the moderation of the rest of the site is so uneven, as this leads to confusion and unfairness for both mods and posters. If the pics here do break site rules, and a complaint is made to a mod, that mod has to act. Even if they know it's ridiculous, because another part of the site with a lazier mod has dozens of pic threads with hundreds of far more explicit pics on each. Even if they think the report may be personally motivated. Even if they know they'll be roasted for acting, never mind that they have tried to be as lenient as possible.

So absolutely everyone loses. Mod, thread poster, and Lit as a whole. Well, everyone except whoever made the complaint, and whose enthusiasm for finding pics which break site rules somehow didn't lead them to look at...pic threads. I wonder why that was? And who?

This isn't working. Can we try to find something better, please?
