Does Halloween get celebrated there as it does here in North America Cat?

When I lived in Switzerland many many many years ago I do not remember anything for Halloween, but do remember Fasching

Finally resting under the duvet,
Warm, soft
Almost as if I was hugged
- while rolled like a fluffy spring roll.

Today was fun and cold!
Waking up, I could taste the chill in the air.



Going for a hike,
I saw the fruits of Autumn
Sprinkled like small deceitful gifts!



I do not trust my own abilities,
To choose the edible from the poisonous..​

But.. what do I trust?
My ability to be brave?
To fear the cold?

Or..
My recklessness?

Also, the world has gotten smaller, much smaller.. with the stores trying to tell us to celebrate Valentine's Day even!!

But, All Hallows Eve is still a thing.. Although.. it is becoming increasingly Americanised.. For better and worse.
- the Kids love it though!

Yes that makes sense. I remember my last time in Germany (10 years after I had studied there), I noticed many more malls, fast food stores etc. “Progress”

I do not know if you have ever seen the (excellent in my opinion) animated film called “A Nightmare Before Christmas”, directed by Tim Burton. This film was inspired by him noticing that in stores (especially in the warmer parts of the US) the Christmas decorations were being sold side by side with the Halloween decorations (before Halloween was even over). It is perhaps along the lines of what you described. He saw it as a fugue of the two holidays, a blend for ).

We are expecting a stormflod.. newest warning: the sea levels will rise 150 cm, and.. the waves are going to reach 5 meters.
- of course.. The storm will reach us first.

... Nature.. pretty.. and relentless.

The classic expression, "The calm before the storm" then? Lots of time spent under the duvets?
That storm will hit us too sometime tomorror and last over Friday. I think I'll take the car to work....

Oh most definitely The Calm Before The Storm, the city hall is making sure that there will be sandbags available for people, from tomorrow at 08:00.

The storm will reach us at 15:00, but.. The stormflod is obviously starting later.. And lasting until Saturday.
If we were in the city, I would never have given the stormflod any second thoughts, well.. I would have felt awful for the people in the affected areas..
But being in one of those areas right now. Ugh.. it does kinda suck.

I think, it will be lots of: reading books, hopefully.. If the power does not get affected , making æblegrød and baking some kvæde tærter. Or making kvæde syltetøj.

.... There is something oddly calming about cooking, when the weather is rough.

Taking the car to work, sounds like a pretty good idea!!

Get some batteries and a head lamp so you can read in the dark. And charge phone, tablets and all other stuff as long as you have power. Do you have a power bank to your phone?

Yes, the roof of the car can take a falling branch, my helmet can't.

Our house is on the highest ground. So.. yeah.. It might be just a slightly scary, but thrilling experience.. for us.. Not the neighbours or the villagers.

My plan, To make sure the kids does not get scared.

And crossing my fingers.. no falling trees, no other unforeseen events.

It sounds like it can be rough. But those areas are use to storms so they are prepared.

Yeah, people here are oddly organised and prepared.
- there will be a lot of oversvømmelser of the more serious kind.

But, I have already gotten the first 3 emails, asking if anyone needs help to transport the sandbags.

We are, the best case scenario.. we will be able to leave the forest on Sunday..
- The water levels are no joke, the roads will be gone.

We have drinking water, blankets, well.. down comforter. Wood stove to keep the warmth.. And cook in.

Headlamps and food.

I like the best case scenario a lot.
- the kids needs to go back to the city and to school.
