🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

Wake up! It’s Walking Wednesday!
giphy.gif

According to our calendar, it’s Walking Wednesday! In addition to your base goal that you set yesterday, your challenge today, if you choose to accept it, is to add a little walking to your daily routine today.

Now, lots of us already have walking as part of our base goal anyway, so this is like when it’s double points day at Nordstrom Rack, and we all know that’s a very good day!

So, to make it a little more interesting, I’ve put together some discussion questions, a word of the day, and a BONUS activity. (No googling on the Bonus activity or else you’ll get sent to the principals office!)View attachment 2256985

I’m off for my walk! Good luck today!

My step goal: Reaching 10.000 daily. When I am here in the forest, 15.000+ daily steps is nothing out of the ordinary, but in the city.. I seem to plateau on 7.000-8.000. I would like 10.000 to be the norm.

Where do I walk - How often: Down here in the forest, to the beach, around the marsh, the forest, in the garden.. Kinda everywhere.
In the city, to the gym.. I am thinking of making a route around some lakes as well.
How often.. daily.

Where is the most memorable place I have taken a walk? : .... Weird question to me 🙈 on top of having no sense of direction, I am.. "Place blind" so, I get the privilege of always being impressed of the beauty of the places I go...
Mostly, it is the company, or the state of my mind that makes it a memorable event to me. ❤️

What kind of doors shoes do I wear: ASICS Gel Kayano. They have been my favourites for years now.

... Now, time to finish my tea.. And get dressed for that walk!

☀️Good Morning, Sweaters! ☀️
How did you do yesterday? Did you make progress toward the goals that you set on Day 1? Did you change up your routine? Eat healthier? Hit your step goal?

Today is “Thighday” - it’s all about those legs!
So, if you are looking to add something else to your workout today, consider these toning exercises.

On a side-note, did anyone here ever try a Thigh Master? I feel like we have had so many exercise fad gadgets over the years. Which ones do you remember? Do you use any? Is there something that you’d recommend?

Did I change my routine?
Not yet.. Come next week, when I am back in the city.. That is where I have to be steadfast and keep up the walking.

Gadgets.. I have never really been big on those.. well, except for my watch.. But that probably falls into my electronic gadget thingy.. 🤣

Still, I do really like my elastic bands.. they are terrific for the thighs. ✨

And, after my tendon injury: the Bosu ball made an appearance in my life, I even have one here in the forest!
It helps me stabilise and train all those small, but ohh so important muscles in ankles and knees.

So, beside my speed ropes, dumbbells, training mat.. The elastic bands and Bosu ball are my favourites.

But none as important as good shoes! They are my Alfa and Omega. Without them, no training.

I never tried the Thigh Master.. I think I looked too intimidating to me 🙈

I stuck to my plan yesterday, so I'm happy about that.

I hit the ground running this morning, but at a shorter distance and slower pace than normal (which was very much intended), so I'm happy about that. A little discipline, how about that? I'm interested to see how that goes, no pain during, but I've noticed it is something that pops up the day after, so we will see.

Exercise gadgets... I don't think I've ever used one. I remember the thigh master, but all the comes to mind for me when thinking about exercise gadgets is...

Good morning! I made it to 9100 steps yesterday, so not bad! I rollerbladed 9.5 miles in the evening which felt great, and I ate pretty well. Tonight I'm doing two 20 minute workouts from a 21 day toning challenge through Asana Rebel. Low back and core, then an easy flow yoga series.

I've never tried a thigh master but I do love resistance bands, like @Cat mentioned. Those are my favorite pieces of equipment aside from yoga blocks and straps.

I never used one, but remember shake weights? 🤣

Ok so maybe my experience differs from people here 😬

We have a ton of these weird exercise gadgets. Now, I will say that it’s not usually me who gets them but I have used all of these weird things. Well, not the ab shocker - that thing makes me nervous.

IMG_6605.jpeg

My husband has been known to wear this ab shocker while sitting in the recliner with a beer and the remote. I told him that might not be how it was intended to be used but what do I know. He’s pretty fit so I’ll keep my mouth shut.

Then there’s this thing- a vibrating platform. It’s supposed to work stabilizing muscles in your legs but you can also use it by putting your forearms on it while you do a plank. IMG_6604.jpeg
Then there this thing called a Bull worker- idk how it got its name and I used this thing once or twice. It’s fine. 🤷🏼‍♀️

IMG_6608.jpeg

Then there are these dumbbells. They’re nice bc they take up less space but I never use them. I don’t know why. I just don’t. My husband likes them.

IMG_6609.jpeg

And an ab roller. This is a torture device.
IMG_6606.jpeg
And then finally a Bowflex. I use this on occasion. It’s ok. It’s not as good as the gym but is a nice way to change things up a bit. IMG_6610.jpeg

I've had these chirp wheels in mind for months now. I think they've been discussed before but has anyone ever used them? Right now I'll foam roll down my back but these look like they would feel so good on either side of the spine. I have a moderate scoliosis in my lumbar spine so I try to roll and stretch these muscles especially.

I totally remember using the electric stimulation ab shocker thing when I was in college. Not sure it every really did anything but it was a bizarre sensation so you figured it couldn’t hurt trying. 😆

Got all my steps in yesterday and a bike ride plus a little bonus cardio at soccer practice.

Yes! I had a personal trainer who used those with me. They were — fine? They were similar to foam rollers which means they were also torturous.

So I managed to walking up and down 5 floors in the building again today, with a short rest in-between. I'm really going to have to stick to this for now as it's really taking it out of me.

My steps are low compared to what I used to do but little by little they'll creep back up 😊

I have those exact same dumbbells. Damn things helped me get through COVID while the gym was shut down.

I relied on my treadmill. I would have gone crazy without it.

Those dumbbells are really nice. A whole set and they’re stored in a small space. Very convenient.

Good morning, and happy Friday!

Do you have a workout partner? Do you like to go to group classes? Or do you prefer to workout alone?

Today’s challenge is an easy one - message a friend who may not usually participate in this thread and let them know about the August Challenge. The more the merrier, right?

Have a great Friday! 🙂

well, My lovely wife @sallysparrow23 didn't link the thread, instead sent me a marco polo request to join this crazy group of fitness peoples.
So here I am.
now what do I do?
Well so far we’ve set a fitness goal- that can be whatever you want it to be. Then we came up with a playlist of songs with the word “walk” in the title or lyrics, then we talked about weird exercise gadgets like the thighmaster, and now we are recruiting people.

So glad you are here!
