Honestly a good walk has this affect on me. Generally the walk starts with my mind racing and thoughts going everywhere. By the end of the walk, my mind has slowed and things feel sorted and calm.
Being outside is crucial for me though. I can reproduce that on a treadmill or walking indoors somewhere. ☀️

Me too. I’m headed out for a walk around the lake today.

How do you unwind?
Watching TV, I know probably not the best thing to do 😑

What strategies do you have to handle stress?
The gym has become my place to relieve stress lately. Anything or anyone that causes me stress, I type it on my notes app on my phone. I will then look over it before working out and then after that workout, I delete it and start a new one.

Are you able to take your mind off of what is troubling you and relax?
No, not really. This is something I often struggle with and really need to work on.

Honestly I can default to this sometimes too. I don’t really feel better after I do, though.

Without being super specific, what gym do you belong to? I’ve tried so many- Lifetime, planet fitness, 24 hour fitness..do you like your gym?

I do too. Especially hard to turn off work stress.

Nice on the lake walk! I went for a mountain bike ride today, took a spill and fell over, the stuff in my pocket gave me a deep tissue bruise mid thigh, hurts like crap and leg is stiff LOL. Ice and compression are the order for the rest of the day.

Oh man. Get some rest and heal up. That’s never fun getting hurt while trying to exercise.

It’s Monday morning - time to get those steps in.

Here is this week’s calendar. It’s back to the grind for me today so let me give a rundown of the activities this week.

august-5.jpeg

Monday: Meme Day
Drop your best wellness-related memes here! They can be funny or serious, found online or homemade. I guess everyday is meme day on Lit but now it’s official!

Tuesday: Arms Day
It’s all about those guns! Suns out, guns out! What’s your arm routine like? Do you alternate days—is your workout that organized? Are you an organized person in other areas of your life?

Wednesday: Walking Lunges
These hurt so good. Do you do them? Give ‘em a try!

Thursday: Picture Perfect
Share a wellness related picture! It could be of yourself in workout clothes, somewhere you went for a workout, a pic of your pet you take with you, a meme…anything. We are visual learners here ;-)

Friday: Mystery VIP Day!!
Fridays are going to be Mystery VIP day. A secret Litster will create the workout and provide a couple hints as to his/her identity and we have to try the workout and then guess who the Litster is! (If you would like to be Mystery VIP, pm me.)

So there you have it, this weeks activities. They’re meant to just keep you coming back and checking in with the group. Hopefully it’s fun and can perk you up a little this week. Keep inviting people you think would like to play with us and have a great week!

Just catching up...

This is one of my favourite things about riding my bike to work, it's a great way to move your body and get out all the stress from the day. Movement is likely the best way, my body needs to release that energy and movement of any sorts helps me so that. I'm not perfect at doing that if I work from home, though.

(I'm no psychologist, but the above is real for all. It doesn't have to be high intensity exercise, but it's scientifically proven that your stress energy needs a place to go and sitting watching television doesn't help... even though I do that sometimes.)

As for taking my mind off things... Sometimes. But often I feel that I don't need to lose the thought, whatever I'm feeling is probably real. So recognize it, try not to judge it, and reframe it. Also far easier said than done!

Popping in late... but my short term goals are to keep up with a lifting program until its a routine and get in cardio 3 times a week. Also make better food decisions. Ive been super lazy for almost a month but did weights finally yesterday and rode the stationary bike today.
