🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

Hey Sweaters!

I've had a ridiculously rough week at work so far. Big changes are going to happen. My stress level is through the roof. I was excited last night because we started learning how to hip-check at derby practice. Knocking hips and pushing people over was satisfying, not gonna lie lol. Coach is becoming more of a hard ass and that is motivating to me to push it into high gear. We also worked on pace lines, where we followed a leader in a line and worked on keeping pace with the skater in front of you, and changing skate lanes. My thighs are on fire!! Love the burn. Have a happy hump day everyone.

Protein Questions:

Protein consumption is not something I typically worry about, but lately I've been upping my weight workouts. Muscle building seems to require a lot of protein. Far more than I consume. Based on what I've seen, 65-87 grams daily is my target.

No way I can eat that much meat. I do a protein drink, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a 25gram or so hit without meat?

Also curious - how much variance is there in the range?

Based on body type and such. I am tallish, but very small boned. I firm up rather than bulk up. Do I really need that much protein?

Thank you!!!

1,2-1,6 gram per kilogramme, yup.. I actually struggle with the same issue.

My go-to, when I am free to eat as I like 😆: beans!!
They are so versatile, some kidney/butter/pinto/black beans in my salad, soup, warm, in sauce, as a dip..

They also make me feel full for a longer time.

And chickpeas!! Gosh, they are delicious.
- Not to forget peanutbutter.

My stomach do not really agree with protein shakes, and I do not really like meat either.. nope, I am not making it easier for myself, I know.

But, luckily it is possible to get enough protein through food.. even snacking some almonds will give you some extra grams.

Also, too much protein is really, really bad for your kidneys.

Yep. Just not a big meat eater.

Plus, my body thrives under a nice, long, intermittent fast. I really prefer to eat only twice a day. 🤷‍♀️

Curious, Cat. If you're getting most of your protein sans meat, do you worry about protein combining? Complete plant-based protein is such a rarity. Do you make it a point to garner all the amino acids in a day's eating, or are you not too concerned?

Also, @sallysparrow23 turned me on the is protein powder. Much more tolerable in taste and it upsets my stomach less. I do it on weight days.

I'm really glad it's working out for you. I've never tried the unflavored/unsweetened powder that I see in the link. I think I might try that one next.

Intermittent fast is always the best for my body as well, it is only when I get into silly/bad habits, that my balance gets messed up.

Curious Cats is a lovely thing! And to let the Cat out of the bag; I am just not that concerned.

I used to be!! Oh my gosh, searching high and low, trying absolutely every protein powder (and every diet) I could get my hands on, thinking I needed a ton of supplements.

Well, as one of the many unexpected and kinda fun side effects of having a mildly challenging health, I am stupidly quantified!! 🤣 And always able to talk with my hospital(s).
So I learnt to relax, not to stress it and believe that as long as I do not overdo it (as one of my doctors once said: "Cat, unless you decide to live only from fruit that has fallen off the trees.. then I am not really concerned about your eating habits, just use some common sense" -
I have taken this to heart, and are now also eating fruits that I have to pick from the trees!) Then I am going to be just fine.

So, I eat my beans, I like lean fish from time to time, never too proud to sit and share a huge pot of moules et frites with the small humans. 🤩

But on the daily basis, nah.. I do not spend much, or any time at all, thinking about supplements. 😁

Oh!! That looks like some interesting protein powder. ✨

What kinds of fish do you make? I want to incorporate more fish into my mealtimes but I haven’t branched out more than broiled salmon or tuna steaks.

Do you all have some interesting recipes for fish that you can share?
I particularly enjoy sea bass, simply fried in a little butter, delicious. Also I often make vegetable soup and will just add some white fish, cod/hake/whiting to it for extra protein. Even though they are fairly tasteless, cooking them in the soup gives them flavour and provides a low calorie, nutritious meal.

Had leg day today. Between fighting a long sinus infection stemming from a mild flu or COVID, being on leave and travel it’s been a while since I did legs. Only put up maybe 80% of my normal load,
Boy did I give that 80% a solid 100% effort. I was breathing hard 20+ minutes and a shower after my last set.
