Story went up just a little under 72 hours ago and it's showing a little over 7,900 views.

I know the rate drops off after the 'New' tag goes away, but just curious what others see those first few days.

Too category dependant to answer that without more information. Just looked up which of your stories has the New tag, and it's I/T. That's actually a little slow for the category, and I can tell you exactly why. Nowhere in the title/description do you call out the coupling. Readers are far more likely to bite in that category when they know at a glance who's fucking who. Some are there for everything, but some only like Bro/Sis, or Mom/Son, or Dad/Daughter, etc.

My last non-contest story in I/T did not do as well as yours. It had under 3600 views in 72 hours. I blame it on the title and short description, which hardly gave a clue what the story was about.

Most of my relatively recent stories in I/T have been contest stories, and they do far better. The most recent had 24K views in 72 hours.

There's no average. So much of it depends on the category and the type and description of the story. My last story, a mom-son incest tale, had 40,000 or so views in the first 24 hours. Another story I published last August in the Humor and Satire category has a total of 3,300 views after 5+ months and is getting about 8 views per day, or 1/3 of a view per hour.

If you are curious, you can check out the new story hub list for stories in the category of your interest and monitor what they are getting over a 24 hour period. The numbers refresh about every half hour, I think.

This may be unrepresentative. I'll give you an example, since I track my story stats fairly closely.

Last November I published a story in the Exhibitionist category. It did well and was one of the better performing Exhibitionist stories that month in terms of score and favorites.

Where I live stories get published around 11 p.m. local time. By 5 am the story had over 1600 views. 24 hours later it had 9332 views, a gain of 7700. It gained another 1610 views in the next 24 hours, and another 930 views the day after that. Although the numbers vary a lot from story to story and category to category, that pattern is pretty common for my stories, and for others, too, I think. Views are highest by far in the first 24 hours and then they drop off very quickly, day to day, until they stabilize. That story, a little over 2 months since publication, is getting around 40 views per day now. It has a score of 4.79, which helps.

6 hours.

124 votes.

That's very good.

My experience is that after 6 hours I see views per hour increase for several hours, then dip some, and pick up again in the evening, after around 18 hours from publication. After hitting the 24 hour mark, hourly views drop dramatically.

OK, I'll stop now. Might do one at 24 hours.

From what little I can see publicly of todays new stories, some have higher ratings, but one one other has more than 12 Favorites.
