A Thread for our **Florida Friends**....

HUGS to all who post on this thread. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

I live near St. Augustine, so I'm going to my mother's house, yet again. If no one hears from me for a while, ~Elizabeth~ (formerly P3) will be getting a cell call from me should there be no way to communicate with all of you lovely people via the web.

Even though this is the internet, and some who don't fully understand would roll their eyes, I just want you all to know that the friendships I've formed here and are still forming are quite meaningful to me. I'm grateful for my extended family of Litizens. Thank you all for your care and concern.:rose:

Much love and HUGS~
Ashleigh (Raindear816)

BTW, 69Forever, you're right, Frances is the size of TX. Florida is only a sliver!

Since the west side of the storm is weakening, it important to point out to those of you who don't know the impact of a hurricane this size-- there's still the EAST side to contend with. I live on the EAST side of the storm, which is where the storm hasn't lost strength.

Keeping you and all of the others facing the rest of the storm in my prayers.

Yes we all do worry about our friends from here.

Heard from my Mother today... Thank god my family is safe. She had no lights but was able to get on the phone.

babydoll2u is safe

I don't know which thread our friend Peggy (babydoll2u) posts on, so i figured i'll post this on all of them. She and her family came through Frances okay, but her electricity will be off almost until the weekend, so myself and my fiancee Karen will be on the phone with her a bit. I know she'd want us to extend our love and hugs to all that are concerned about her.

Peace, love and happiness to all.......

Sigh

Keep those thoughts and prayers coming. With Ivan on his way, I wonder where the fuck we're gonna put more rain.

HUGS and :kiss:es to everyone, I'm still praying for all who are in the path of Ivan, and those recovering from the aftermath of Frances.

I'm pleased to report that My family is safe, other than a few trees down, and a trampoline that was hurled like a flying saucer across the pasture, we sustained only minor damages.
My chickens, cows, horses, donkeys, cats, and dog are all well, present and accounted for. The kids are driving me nucking futs, but that's normal.

I am actually looking forward to the kids to go back to school tomorrow ( does happy dance :D ). I've got two exams, and my Daddy has a partial knee replacement sugery scheduled tomorrow. I'd like a vacation without any natural diasters in sight.

Holding you all close,

F**king Ivan....

Folks, this doesn't look good. My Sister is trying to talk my Mom into getting out now. God help you all. :rose:

ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada - Hurricane Ivan grew into the deadliest of storms overnight Thursday, packing winds of 160 mph as it made a beeline for Jamaica after pummeling Grenada, Barbados and other islands, causing at least 15 deaths.

As dazed survivors emerged from half-destroyed homes in Grenada — where at least 12 people were killed and 90 percent of the 100,000 islanders' homes were damaged — Jamaican leader P.J. Patterson urged his people to pray.

"We have to prepare for the worst case scenario. Let us pray for God's care," Patterson said Wednesday night. "This is a time that we must demonstrate that we are indeed our brothers' and sisters' keeper."

The most dangerous storm to hit the Caribbean in years already pummeled Barbados and other islands Tuesday before setting its deadly winds and rains, blamed for three other fatalities in Barbados, Tobago and Venezuela, on a course projected to take it directly over Jamaica, Cuba and into the heart of the hurricane-weary southern United States.

The storm strengthened early Thursday to become a Category 5 on a scale of 5. It packed sustained winds of 160 mph with higher gusts as it passed north of the Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

Officials told tourists and residents to evacuate the Florida Keys because Ivan could hit the island chain by Sunday. It was the third evacuation ordered there in a month, following Hurricane Charley and hard on the heels of Hurricane Frances.

The southwest coast of Haiti and Dominican Republic were under hurricane and tropical storm watch. Cayman Islands posted a hurricane watch. A hurricane warning remained in effect for Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Colombia's northeastern Guajira peninsula and Venezuela's north coast were under hurricane watch and tropical storm warning.

At 8 a.m. EDT, Ivan was centered about 455 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica. Hurricane-force winds extended up to 60 miles and tropical storm-force winds another 160 miles. Ivan was moving west-northwest at 17 mph.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center (news - web sites) in Miami warned it was riling large and dangerous battering waves and rain that could cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides.

Ivan became the fourth major hurricane of a busy Atlantic season Sunday.

:rose: Thank you kayte.

69-- I pray that your Mom will heed your advice.

pj, my dad's surgery was postponed due to the hospital being over capaity and in Flagler county! He will have to wait until after Ivan passes.

I'm stocking up on beer and Jose' this time, I've got all the other essentials;)

What bothers me about this hurricane crap is that it's so unpredictable! They say "it's going this way...then oops it's turning and we aren't sure about the fluctuations in pressure causing it to move toward your areas !!!!"

OMG, the new update just shows it's going to be over my area by Wednesday! Sustained winds probably in the upward 80mph and over that on the east side of the storm once again. Friggin hurricane season blows! (no pun intended)

My love, prayers, and warm wishes for you all and your loved ones,
Ashleigh

Are'nt we having fun!

I wanted to thank all of you for your thoughts. It is delightful to come back to such warmth.

All the supermarkets have very little on the shelves here.....my god....where is butter! Just one little stick... Things arrive but disappear quickly..."Oh yes we had some butter yesterday morning but it was gone in an hour" Enough of my whining....

For those interested in Hurricane info in the Carribean I have a link which i also posted on the Ivan thread I started...

It is full of information and links.

I got this in an e-mail from my sister this morning:

Well, here we go again, and this one looks bad, so we're leaving for Tampa this afternoon, spending the night, then flying out tomorrow afternoon for Pittsburgh. Be back in Naples, hopefully, Wednesday. Couldn't get any other flights.

And Soron is in line for a direct hit on Tuesday... again... This hurricane business is like playing Russian Roulette, only worse... the bullets just keep on coming, and coming...

Fucking hurricanes!!! :(
