In NYC therre are, in addition to the state taxes on cigarettes, city taxes on cigarettes. The last increase will push the price of a pack to $9 to $10. Not all that far down I-95 are tobacco growing states where the taxes are very low. All an enterprising individual needs to do is drive down I-95, buy some cigarettes and then drive back to NYC and sell them below the heavily taxed price and get rich. Well, actually there is one other thing the enterprising individual needs to do. The enterprising individual needs to first figure out a way to deal with the MAFIA, who control the illegal cigarette sales in NYC. This last is a major stumbling block. [The MAFIA are really not all that bad. They offer free cement swimsuits and free night swimming lessons in the East River.]
