Fuck this shit about washing wine glasses by hand! I broke another fucking wine glass right in my hand, not while washing it, but by fucking drying the damn thing. And, I don't even give a fuck about spots. I didn't get hurt, I'm just fucking pissed!

Use the wine glasses they give out at wineries except when you are "eating fancy." They survive well.

Why do you need a glass? I used to drink straight from the bottle, wrapped nicely in a paper bag. :D

Nice cool bubbly red Ripple! Mmmmmmm good. :D

Ripple and Thunderbird were usually a bit to pricey for me and my buddies. Mostly, we drank the cheap stuff - 65 cents a fifth.

Well, Box. I'm a classy lady! I prefer it out of the brown paper bag every once in awhile.:D

Funny, that you should say that. That was the glass I broke. From Whitehall vineyard and it wasn't free, but its a souvenier that I've had for awhile and it was good enough for an everyday glass of red. I was in California the first year they HAD to start charging for wine tastings (2005). They thought it would keep the drunks away (LOL). I'm not sure if the State got the money or the vineyard got to keep it. Some of the vineyards saw the five dollars as a way to advertise and gave you the glass, some wouldn't let you keep the glass. That would perhaps make it easier to drink in the car. I normally put the crystal ones in the dishwasher. I don't know why I washed this one by hand.

I've calmed down since my rant of yesterday.

Silver Satin with a packet of Cherry Kool-Aid sugar mix to make it palatable.

Wine Glass turned upside down on a clean kitchen towel to air dry.

Washing that wine glass.

Note: WE strongly advise being completely sober when carrying out this process. The Author will not accept any responsibility whatever for damage or accidents occurring as a result of using this process.

The guys who make a decent wine glass are more attentive to looks, delicacy and aesthetics than longevity, so a bit of thought is indicated when washing them.

Remember that glass is not a true solid. It’s actually a super-cooled liquid with an irregular atomic lattice. It is, therefore, FRAGILE.

You will need:

Two washing-up bowls
Washing-up liquid (Fairy liquid is good).
A soft washing cloth
Rinsing agent (as sometimes found in Dish-washing machine supplies).
Some clean soft towels (an old-fashioned Nappy (diaper) is excellent)
[option] An electric hair drier.

Method.
1. Place some warm water (hand-hot) with a little washing-up liquid in a clean bowl.
2. Place some warm water (hand-hot) with a little Rinsing agent in a second clean bowl.
3. On a close clean flat surface, place a clean dry towel.
4. Insert the glass to be cleaned and shake carefully in the water. Use the soft washing cloth with great care. (1)
5. Gently shake off the surplus washing-up fluid.
6. Repeat the process, but with the rinsing agent.
7. Place glass (inverted) on the dry towel (3)
8. Repeat for all glasses, making sure that the water stays warm and clean.

Option:
When all the glasses are washed, use the hair dryer to warm and drive off the surplus moisture. DO NOT USE HIGH SPEED or excessive heat.

When the glasses are thoroughly dry, store them in a clean safe place.

Very good, HP. I'll see how I do with the next bottle of wine. You mentioned nothing about being sober while doing this operation. Can I sue if I get hurt?:D

Ripple was a buck a quart. 99 cents really the same price as Schlitz Malt Liquor 8 oz can six pack. Could get either at he corner Walgreens back in the late sixties early seventies.

That was when I was drinking the cheap stuff. Old Chateau Tokay or Whiteport at 65 cents for a fifth. Thunderbird cost 85 cents then.

I liked Ripple or Boones Farm Strawberry Hill. Both were cheap and tasted good and I did like the bubbles as they were both sparkling wines.
