He promised mass deportation. Not that he would build prisons for those illegals. Need the excess pet population flown there for them to eat, even if they are not Haitians, at this point. Solve the spay/neuter issues at the pounds at the same time. In the first 100 days, he only managed a few flights that caught some attention. Not enough to keep his promises to Americans, you know? He could easily ID anyone with tattoos and try them first as obvious MS-13 or other gangs. There must be 15 million of them by his count, so that would be a 'no-brainer' decision. What's holding him up?

Now, what to do with the space those millions of illegals occupied when they were in America? Who is going to rent those spaces? 30 million vacancies are a lot of revenue that has to be replenished. Not to mention a lot of farmers' crops to harvest by someone. Ah, the Florida governor may have that covered. He's lowering the age of teen workers and increasing their ability to skip school and work if needed in that vital trade.

I would say, we need a better screening system to see who among them has that gift dangled before them. Clearly there were enough contacts for Armpit to get pissed over and jaded because of it. Yet, the efforts were not in vain. There were/are successes and those we should study and replicate.

While prison for life for others is obvious, it isn't obvious that it applies to everyone sent there for less than evil deeds.

I just don't see why it has to be any more uncomfortable and unpleasant than is strictly necessary to keep the inmates locked up.

As for studying and replicating successes, there are countries in Europe that have had good success with a system much less harsh. There are some prisons so minimum security that the inmates are not locked up -- but they don't just walk away.

What that means is that Europe doesn't incarcerate criminals and instead prefers fines and social programs while criminals walk free to offend again and again and again. Even when they do put someone in prison, it's a last resort and for shorter periods.

Compared to the US which imposes jail sentences for criminals and grants parole or probation for minor offenders.

One is a jail as a last resort mindset, while the other is punish first then grant leniency society. The difference can be seen in the disparate incarceration rates. It has nothing to do with whether counseling inmates or social programs is the better program model over incarceration.

From this post it seems you are saying those countries are okay with release and catch again and again. And only prison for the most severe or repeat offenders. What types of crimes are these persons being released on? I suspect they aren't the violent offenders. Right? or are you just winging it again?

Which system seems to be the better solution? Or is there no better one, as we have too many different philosophical approaches to criminal prosecution and incarceration?
