And so it begins.

Trump diverted border guards from the overworked crossing points and told them to stand in the desert. Returns of illegal immigrants dropped during his term, which is what he wanted to force a lowering of wages for the unskilled (particularly in Florida golf courses). While all the time ranting about a southern invasion that just riled up his home-schooled base of Breitbart viewers.

This had the added benefit of lowering the cost of cocaine for Don Jr.

Since he's gone the situation has improved, returns have risen back to the pre-Stinko era.

You'll have to ask Paul Ryan why it wasn't addressed.

Yes, the invasion started damn near before the ink on the amnesty bill had dried. It caught the public's attention during the Obama administration.
So we get to the truth, it caught the attention of the public during the Obama administration, not because it was so much worse than before. And why should that be? Because the Republicans were using it for "dog whistle" as I said. They were more concerned with appearances than reality or getting anything done. Thank you for clarifying that.

Telling the Biden administration to go fuck themselves is normal. States and the Feds get into this all the time. And it's a good thing because it gives the court a chance to weigh in and settle the matter.

The problem I have is when a state decides the rule of law no longer applies, when they can just ignore the Supreme Court and decide their decision on the disagreement supersedes the decision of the highest court in the land. If we are to stay one nation, then we MUST abide by the laws WE passed. We MUST abide by the decision of the Supreme Court no matter what we think of the ruling. To do otherwise is arrogant, obtuse and just plain stupid.

There are those like the OP that cheer such behavior on without any real concept or understanding of what kind of harm it does. Yeah, we could have a civil war and the country could be broken up into them and us factions, but what then? We would have a lot of independent counties that would be vulnerable to conquest by stronger countries. North Korea, China, Russia, to name a few who would be happy with and take advantage of the dissolution of our nation. It may take a few years, but it would happen.

We need to choose wisely. I don't expect shortsighted and biased individuals like Ish to do so. It takes intelligence coupled with wisdom hitched to concern for something other than yourself to choose wisely. I know Ish and company hate the movie "The American President" because the main character is liberal. But there is one quote from it that has nothing to do with that left/right political line. It's just good advice and WE need to pay attention to it: "We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them."

What we don't need is a state ignoring the rule of law because they don't agree with it. What we don't need is a faction in Congress, or State level politicians, with the "my way or the highway, all or nothing, I will not compromise" mindset.

After all that, let me sum up: Texas and those in the US Congress need to get their head out of their ass and do what is lawfull. It's extremely stupid to scream that the administration is ignoring the law, then turn around and do the same thing you are blaming the other side for.

Actually we don't. Didn't read the fine print did you? ICE changed the way they reported in 2019 for whatever reason. Illegal contacts were reported separately, border crossing attempt vs. refuse entry/removal, now it is all lumped together as 'encounters' so you can't winnow the chaff.

I see you're still a moron spouting shit.

In other words you are telling me that the (Trump) numbers for 2019 are well below today's because they added a bunch that wasn't calculated then? So the numbers today aren't as bad as you make them out to be? Again, thanks for clarifying that.

Kinda like trump Covid numbers. Don’t let that ship dock!

Trump probably didn't have a damn thing to do with that change. He might not have known it took place.

No, the obverse would be true. The numbers would appear worse.

First of all it was a bean counting change, not policy or regulation so no entry in the Federal Register required. The head of ICE could have done that on their own. No president micro-manages to that level and any that did would totally ineffective.

Further, we don't know how many were turned back, even today under the Biden admin. What we do know is how many were paroled and that number is astonishingly high.

Some dildo mentioned that Trump dispersed Border Patrol agents to more remote areas of the border, and that is true although Trump didn't make that decision, Border Patrol did.

For the past 10 years DEA was making approx. 900 arrests/yr in this sector for 2014-2017 inclusive. Those numbers dropped to approx. 600-700/yr for the years 2018 through 2020. Now the arrests are up to approx. 1000/yr.

What's the difference. During those high number years the agents were concentrated at the crossings to deal with the illegals. In that there's only a finite number of agents that meant that remote sectors were NOT being patrolled. During the low number years more of the drugs were being interdicted by Border Patrol so they got credit for the arrests.

Out of all of those arrests for those years in this sector only a little over 400 were citizens, all the rest were illegals. As the drugs move further into the interior the ratios change and more citizens are arrested, those representing the lower levels of the distribution chain.

The drugs being picked up are primarily Fentanyl, Heroin, and Meth. There is little profit in Pot anymore so very little is being smuggled. Further, local policy is that any amount of Pot less than 600 lbs is confiscated and the individual is free to go their merry way. (That policy may vary from sector to sector.)

The point, in case you missed it, is that the Border Patrol is now concentrated at Port of Entry to process the hoards and vast sections of the border are being left unpatrolled. It's axiomatic that criminals (smugglers) DON'T go where the law is so those drugs are coming in through the unpatrolled/under patrolled sections of the border.

And another point, in case you missed it, is that drug smuggling depends on demand in the USA. Responsible citizens don't need to ban poisons to avoid ingesting them.

Invoking a poison control nanny state and bowing to Yabbut's threat of a civil war are piss-poor reasons for postponing bipartisan border legislation until after the election.

Have you mobilized your Confederate militia group yet? Made reservations for them in Texas motels? Don't forget to pack plenty of Metamucil.

The debate on drugs crossing the border is old and tired.

Drugs have always crossed the border, regardless of policy and President in charge. Fentanyl is the latest and greatest. 45 didn't stop them...46 didn't either. Even as record amounts of being seized both at the border and in local areas.

Drugs don't kill people. People ingesting them kills people.

Big pharma makes and distributes the drugs. Why aren't you blaming them? And then there's China which manufactures the chems needed to make fentanyl? Why are they getting a pass?

Or are these people different from gun makers? If so, why?

It's parody, Doofus, not parity.

"Texans put Civil War plan on hold until determination made as to whether they will continue to receive Social Security benefits in the event of secession"

When it comes to guns or illicit drugs, comedy is unwarranted. Those who think it's funny to joke about either need counseling and social awareness training.

Basically, joking about people dying because of either drugs or guns only shows how FUCKED UP you are.
